30 Best Chinese Restaurants near Vernon

“We have ordered from Yang Zi Jiang many times, and it has been consistently good when it comes to taste, portion size, and quick turnaround. That opinion also comes after trying quite a few Chinese restaurants in the area.

On our latest visit, we ordered Szechuan Chicken and Crispy Tofu with Broccoli. Both were delicious. The Szechuan Chicken had plenty of well-cooked chicken along with peppers, baby corn, mushrooms, and snow peas. It was marked spicy, though for our taste it really was not.

The Crispy Tofu came with broccoli and fried tofu coated in a very good sweet and spicy sauce. Because of the sauce, the tofu was no longer particularly crispy by the time we ate it, and the pieces were a little too large for my liking. Other than broccoli, there were no additional vegetables, but the flavor more than made up for it.

Over our previous visits, we have also enjoyed their Vegetable Fried Rice, Veg Lo Mein, General Tso's Chicken, General Tso's Tofu, Orange Chicken, and Hot & Sour Soup. Thankfully, we have yet to come across a dish we disliked. The portions have always been generous and the food consistently flavorful.

One thing I especially appreciate is their surprisingly good and creative vegetarian selection, something I do not find at many Chinese restaurants. Their menu is quite large, and despite all our visits, we probably have not tried even half of it yet.

The only limitation is that this is essentially a takeout restaurant with no dine-in option. Posting this review only after eating here multiple times — and so far, Yang Zi Jiang has earned its consistency.“

We usually go to PokeDon in South Windsor but we split a spicy tuna bowl and not only was it absolutely delicious, but the customer service was great too. Give this place a chance, we will definitely be back ourselves.“

“The food was great! I got chicken chow mein, house rice, and an egg roll. The chicken chow mein vegetables were nice and crunchy. Plenty of chicken. The house rice was delightful with shrimp. “Best Chinese food in the Tolland County area!! Everything tastes so delicious and fresh. The beef teriyaki, crab Rangoon, pork egg roll, veggie lo mein, & broccoli chicken are our go-to items! I love how they make sure to drain the grease out of the fried items too before bagging them up. You can tell they take pride in flavorful food and pay attention to detail. They still have the best Chinese food around. If you haven't tried them I highly recommend. Also I couldn't believe the operation. They're so busy they have which appears to be a couple of college kids working the front taking orders. Excellent service all the way around! The only downfall I could see or actually feel. “My brother and I ordered general tso's chicken, the chicken itself was wonderful but the sauce didn't really stick to the chicken and was kinda light on flavor. However my Mom had Sweet & Sour Chicken with pork fried rice and my sister had a Pu Pu platter both of which were amazing.“

I hadn't ordered from them for a while, but having had them yesterday it's obvious that was a giant mistake and there was good reason I ordered it every week for years. Hot and sour soup is always excellent.The menu prices have gone up a little (about 50¢ more per entree type item) and the hours a different now too. They are only open on Tuesdays in December. Otherwise they are closed on Tuesday.Good Chinese, very friendly, very fast. The prices are reasonable and you get a good amount of food. I find it better than the other Chinese restaurant Hang's in Stafford.Be aware that there is no indoor seating. There's some picnic tables in the grass but appears to be mostly take out.“

“It’s a take-out only place. A great place with delicious food. Consistent and affordable. We go there at least twice a month and are never disappointed. Every time we go elsewhere for Chinese food we are comparing it to United China and it never compares. It’s a go-to for us!“

“Overall it's a good place , sometimes they use way to much oil in the fried rice ,or the egg rolls or chicken drips from oil, that's really the only time I have a problem with it, otherwise the workers have always been friendly , and they always get the food prepared fast.“
