Set the tone for the rest of the time there . Should hire someone who actually likes their job and wants to be there with a smile to greet .“

“This neighborhood restaurant is over 55 years old and has so much charm! The food was delicious, the service was fast, the price was really good and folks were very friendly.

I got the Eggs Benedict it was refreshing with a kiss of lemon. Eggs were perfect. I also got the multi grain pancakes 🥞 which were very good. And it was very clean. “When I first came in I was warmly greeted by two great staff members. One or both may have been the owner. I was given the rundown of a pretty great menu with two really great sounding avenues: breakfast meat options with home fries and eggs, or something like a double sausage on a roll for lunch. Boom. That's what I got. Really nice diced onions and green peppers which were sauteed then placed on the bottom of the bun first, then I had them add spicy mustard and the sausage links went on top of it all. I loved this technical approach because it makes the eating experience not-messy and very nice. We've all had hot dogs where the toppings are stacked on top and fall off with every bite. That's not how this was. Well considered! The sausage was really flavorful and wasn't dry or too salty. there was a great snap to the casing of the sausage and the ends/tips of the sausage were satisfyingly crunchy from a great cook. The whole experience was a good one and I absolutely will be going back. I think the price, portion, and quality was excellent, too, for less than $10 -- you can't find that these days. The only improvment: might be to grill/toast the inside of the bun a little more, but that's extremely nitpicky and not required. I can't wait to do their breakfast-y platters next. If they're scrapple and bacon is the same quality as the sausage, this place is going to be a no-brainer when I come to Newark, Delaware once or twice a month to go to Days of Knights Games or Captain Blue Hen Comics. I actually live in Maryland and the drive is about 25 or 30 minutes, but I'm telling you, it's worth it! Main Street, and Helen's, rules. 5/5“

“Wonderful service, fast, so attentive—and HOMEMADE FOOD. As a college student, this is the most affordable ($5-10/meal & $2-3/drink—total $60 for 5 people today) and best tasting. There are dishes here you can’t get anywhere else (or cook yourself). Also the best bacon!“

“I haven't been to a waffle house in years. Our server Tara was really nice. The food was ok. My son had a breakfast scramble, he daid it was good and it looked good. Ordered a blueberry waffle and instead of spreading it out only in the center. The seating is very cramped. All around eating with family was pretty good.“
