Old Captiva House Reviews
Outstanding from start to finish. I would recommend this place to anyone. I'm definitely coming back.
The restaurant was lovely decorated and we were warmly greeted by the host. Although we had reservations we were told we may chose wherever we wanted to sit. The waitress was a pleasure and the food was delicious. We had lump crab/shrimp cocktail, caprese salad and fillets with mushrooms. The whole night was perfect and we even caught the sunset. A bit pricey but worth the experience.
This was my 3rd time eating here and the experience is always fantastic. Love the food. Service is great. I loved every minute of it.

The Old Captiva House is a renowned restaurant on Captiva Island, known for its excellent food and beautiful atmosphere. Although the main entree may take a while to be served, the manager is apologetic about any delays. The restaurant is currently undergoing refurbishment, with the temporary dining room, called Canoe and Kayak, located in a historic building on the bay at the rear of the property.
Despite the smaller kitchen, the food remains top-notch, with guests enjoying dishes such as Lobster Bisque, Cedar Plank Salmon, short ribs, and a daily special of scallops with crab cakes. The warm rolls served with oil have also been a hit. The food is often described as first-class, with delicious old fashioneds, appetizers like escargot and caprese salad, and entrees such as the Sea Bass special and grouper.
The atmosphere in the new location is quiet and welcoming, though the venue is small enough that conversations can be easily heard. Customers have enjoyed their meals and cocktails, and many appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Despite the higher prices, Old Captiva House continues to hold sentimental value for many, making it a place for special occasions and reminiscing.
