“stopped in for lunch today. the food was decent, needed more flavor for me. the service was lack luster. waited over ten minutes from time being seated with menus until a server came over to bring us water and see if we wanted anything else. the server returned a couple times, but then at the end was too involved with her cellphone at the service station. even to the point of taking it over to 2 other employees to see before realizing that we were growing inpatient with waiting for the check. overall I give it a 7/10.“

“Happened across Scalawags after doing a quick Google search of the name while in Sarasota area. Came in about noon on a Wed, just a few mixed age locals there, friendly people, fun and good laughs! Mainly a pool tables and electronic games type bar, dimly lit. Kitchen opens about noon, had a beer on tap and ordered the Grouper Sub, which was great - would get it again. Had another beer. Cash only for Papa Ron's food menu. Bar service is Scalawags, pay separately from food - works for them and me - no problem. Will return!!BTW - The Scalawags name came to mind because of the recent Gasparilla fest in Tampa and also because there is a Scalawags Whiefish & Chips in Mackinaw City, MI that a good friend of mine created, owned and operated for 30 years - serves the BEST fresh-caught Great Lakes Whitefish anywhere! So if you ever go there - you won't be disappointed there either!“

“Anna Maria Oyster Bar - Ellenton, FL After spending the day at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, my fiancé and I decided to stop by Anna Maria Oyster Bar in Ellenton—and we’re so glad we did! We ordered fried oysters, French fries, and cheese grits, and everything was absolutely delicious. The oysters were fried to perfection, crispy on the outside yet tender and flavorful inside. The cheese grits were just the way I like them—nice and thick—and the fries were a great complement to the meal. Even better, our food arrived quickly and fresh. Our waitress, Lilly, was fantastic, providing friendly and attentive service. We also appreciated how the rest of the staff greeted us warmly as we walked through the restaurant. It’s little details like that that make a place feel extra welcoming. The restaurant itself was clean and well-kept, including the bathrooms, which is always a big plus. Anna Maria Oyster Bar now has four locations, and after this experience, I’d definitely visit again. “We celebrated my friends’ 50th birthday at the Chateau this evening. The ambience was amazing! This exceeded our expectations for a fine dining restaurant on the island. The concierge was very welcoming and seated us immediately. The restaurant was clean and the decor was lovely. Our table was ready and even had a Happy Birthday sign that they provided. The concierge accommodated my request to store her birthday cake for later. Our server was Camille P and from start to finish, she made us feel like the most important people there. She gave us great recommendations and brought everything out rather quickly. The food was hot, flavorful and delicious. We had the lobster bisque, charcuterie board, New York strips, truffle mashed potatoes and the snapper. The birthday girl loved the snow crab legs. Camille P and the concierge even brought out the cake and sang happy birthday with us as well. Price wise, I feel like the cost definitely matched the ambience, service and delicious food and drinks. We will definitely be coming back and recommending the Chateau to our friends! Thanks again for everything Camille P.!“
