“This charming soul food and vegan restaurant has creative cuisine to satisfy carnivores like me as well as my vegan daughter. (Can't wait to bring her.) The decor is nice, the sound system is perfect, and the whole place, including the restroom, is wonderfully clean. They are open for breakfast from 8 till noon, and have modestly priced, tasty lunch specials. Dinners are delicious and reasonable, too.“

“Everything is cooked FRESH!! Talk About a whole in the wall treasure. The service was amazing. The smell and taste were phenomenal. I had the 10 wing plate with half Lemon Pep and Cajun Ranch. Absolutely delicious. David was great in the kitchen.“

“Never been to soul food express before. But they came and showed senior citizens, and security some love thank you about to tear this up. Not sure what I'm eating buts it's delicious and I'm definitely gonna have to pay a visit soon.“

“Third time is a charm. I didn't enjoy my first 2 visits to Sweet Mamas but I wanted soul food and didn't want to cook Sunday, and Soul Food Bistro was too busy. I loved my entire meal this go round. Considering it's cloer to my house, I'll definitely be back.“

“I went to the one on Edgewood once, but when they wanted like $4-$6 for 2 chicken legs, I didn’t think I’d ever see myself coming back. I came to the new building on Soutel and I like the price of the chitterlings and tried them, and really enjoyed.“
“If I could they would get 10☆!!!! Purchased the rib and wing combo with the sweet heat sauce.... MAGNIFICENT! I didn't even make it in the door before my wife was eating wings out of my plate. Portion was enough to make me full and have enough for lunch the next day..... only complaint is..... I wanted more mac and cheese!!“

“Sunrise Caribbean Gourmet on Commonwealth absolutely delivered! I grabbed a small veggie plate with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains topped with stew beef gravy—and wow 😋. The flavors were rich, comforting, and perfectly seasoned, just like a home-cooked Caribbean meal. The rice and peas were spot-on, the cabbage was tender and flavorful, and the plantains were sweet and cooked just right. That stew beef gravy tied everything together beautifully. Great portions, great taste, and a satisfying meal all around. Definitely coming back for more!“
