“This little gem is in my neighborhood and it’s been at least 16-17 years since I first walked in the door. The food is excellent, it’s a family owned and operated business, you can tell they care and they’re very real people. The mom’s demeanor when dealing with trouble customers reminds me a lot of the tattoo shops I’ve worked in, they are not a chain so they don’t have to suffer stupidity. I don’t think anything there is cooked off site, bread nor pastries. I’ve never had a less than perfect meal there. The daughter, who is only there part time now is charming, welcoming and among the most beautiful people I’ve ever laid eyes on. Oh! The prices. Not bad at all. Not dirt cheap as Cuban food goes, but definitely affordable. Places like this don’t seem to exist much outside of Little Havana, the Caribbean and Central America. This kind of restaurant/diner is part of the reason I fell in love with South Florida.“

“WOW! This was our second time at Candela. This time, we had my husband's birthday dinner there with about 7 people. The appetizers/tapas were beyond delicious. Would highly recommend the octopus, the yuca, the potatoes - the list goes on! Some advice - do not leave there without trying the paella - the best you've ever had! The chef/owner kept coming over to us and talking to us about the food - the servers, the staff, everyone was just wonderful. What an incredible, personal experience... cannot wait to go back.“

Awkward ambiance for the first five+/- minutes because there was no music playing and the TVs were off. Finally, the music came on and the dining experience improved ten-fold. Meanwhile, the TVs were never turned on. Not a big deal, in fact... might even be cool to have a place with no TVs, where people are forced to interact with one another. But I digress, if you choose to have televisions in your establishment, keep them on; there's a lot you can do with them, not just have it on TV programming. Anyways, this place is absolutely fantastic and has the potential to be one of the area's best restaurants. I'll definitely be back!“

“Got the “Famous Cubano” and was excited to try this one in the side of a gas station. Since my last experience in FL at an expensive restaurant yielded the worst Cubano I’ve ever had, I figured this would be a good place to try next.

From the pictures it looked awesome and from the experience, it’s was equal! The bread was on point, buttered, crispy and chewy, the roast pork was juicy and tender. The ham was also good and there was a perfect amount of pickles and mustard with melty Swiss! All of the textures and flavors were balanced which was exactly what you want in a good Cubano! And you could taste the individual components as well! Fantastic sandwich!!“
