“This is the best bar in downtown St. Pete. We are here at least one day every week. Food is unbelievable and drinks are the best of anywhere in the area. Rick and Tony are awesome. Highly recommend checking it out and grabbing a smoke stack and some amazing food.“

“Tonight was my first visit to Allelo on Beach Drive in St. Pete. We didn’t have a reservation but were lucky to get seats at the bar around 7 p.m. They mentioned they were fully booked, though we did notice a few tables open both when we arrived and when we left. Still, we ended up having a great time at the bar! The female bartender was pretty friendly and attentive, and the bar back (a male) was busy helping with table and silverware setup ~ both were good. We ordered the Baby Gem Salad, Mussels in a delicious tomato sauce, and the Cocktail Shrimp, which were all fantastic. The cocktails were unique and interestingly crafted. The espresso martini had an interesting twist ~ a subtle touch of amaro that gave it depth. The lemon drop martini was made with their house lemonade, which gave it a refreshing and slightly unexpected flavor. My friend ordered the Aperol Spritz and really enjoyed it too. It was a bit loud inside, so next time I’ll definitely ask to sit outside, especially in this beautiful weather. The restaurant has a charming patio right on Beach Drive, a cozy bar area, and another smaller dining room to the right as you walk in. The space is beautifully decorated, with a hand-painted mural of birds by a local artist. They even provided a list so guests can learn about each bird featured on the wall ~ a thoughtful touch! I’m surprised it took me this long to visit, especially since I consider myself quite the foodie. Allelo has been open for 5 years, and after tonight, I can definitely say I’ll be back soon!“

Yesterday, we finally got to hear some great tracks, danced without being in a crowd of sweaty kids, and had a fantastic time. After having a work dinner on the Pier, I recommended the group go for another drink at the Vinoy. I could not be more pleased with the service at the Veranda. I asked our bartender if he could prepare a Dublin Sour, and he delivered a delicious drink following what appeared a great deal of effort. I enjoyed the first one so much, I ordered a second. When the food arrived, the generous portions impressed us. Both of our meals were delicious. I mentioned to the server that it was my daughter's birthday. “We booked Hotel Zamora for one night over Labor Day weekend with what seemed like a fairly achievable goal: stay near St. Pete Beach and walk to the beach.

The hotel itself is genuinely nice. The lobby, rooms, and hallways have been tastefully renovated and feel modern and polished. There’s complimentary fruit-infused water in the lobby, plus drinks and snacks for sale.

Then we tried to go to the beach.

Despite being roughly a block from the sand, we learned at check-in that the nearby beach access is unavailable due to an HOA lawsuit. Public access is instead via 22nd Ave. There’s something uniquely frustrating about being able to practically see the beach while being told you cannot, in fact, just walk to it.

The hotel offers a golf cart shuttle from 9am–6pm, but there’s no schedule, making “shuttle service” more of a concept than a timetable. On a busy holiday weekend, we weren’t interested in waiting around for a golf cart to materialize.

So we drove five minutes and paid for parking.

Hotel Zamora is stylish and comfortable, but if you’re booking because the map suggests you can throw on your flip-flops and stroll to the beach, think again. The beach is close. Getting to it is another story.“
