“Spontaneous dinner out to Consuelo's on the Gainesville Square. Second visit there. (I now regret not visiting more often....) Atmosphere is very chill and relaxing. Comments from my family: It feels like you're transported away, like a upscale restaurant in Manhattan with authentic food from Mexico. Nothing in Gainesville looks and feels like this.

Decor is well-thought out from the blue tile on the bar to the blue mural on the wall and the casual sitting area up front by the window. Seats are very comfortable. Straw light fixtures, modern wooden wall panels, real wood tables. Even the water glasses feel authentically curated. The front during the day is open and airy; the back is a little bit more subdued. My designer daughter would've liked a little more of the blue placed in the back as well for balance but she felt transported as well.

Service was spectacular--thank you very much Andres (our waiter)! The other staff members were full of welcoming smiles as well. Andres was very well-informed on the background of the restaurant and the menu choices. The shrimp empanadas were a definite treat as was the guacamole with homemade chips. You'll not get a tasteless mush here!

Cocktails were just as memorable the second time as they were on the first go around. My usual rule is that if I can't see the beach, I won't order a mojito. That rule no longer holds true. The cucumber mojito tastes fresh and delicious and almost healthy! The spicy paloma was my favorite; the in-house serrano infused tequila makes it extra special.

Can't go wrong with any of the entree choices (although the steak could've been thicker, just for presentation's sake). Tacos, huarache, enchiladas--all delicious! We even got our waiter's favorite--tacos with bacon and chorizo and cheese! He didn't steer us wrong there.

The cheesecake and charcoal ice cream with raspberry sauce were a perfect finish to a delightful dinner out.

We especially appreciate the menu with vegan and vegetarian designations and the drink menu with non-alcoholic options since eating out with friends who may not eat/drink as we do can be very challenging in Gainesville. We now have a place where everyone can find what they need in a warm and inviting way.

If you're in the Oakwood area and craving some Birria Tacos, TIO LOCO is worth a visit! This nice little spot is tucked off to the side of the BP gas station on Hwy 53 (beside the COOKOUT), right off 985. The address might say Gainesville, but for me, this is Oakwood.

The Birria Tacos here are solid—juicy, flavorful, and sure to satisfy your taco cravings. They of course have your other menu items that you may want to check out, but I've been on a birria kick for a while now ? It's definitely a spot to check out if you’re nearby!

“I was told this restaurant had good tacos. My sister and I stopped by for lunch. We ordered Tacos, and nachos. They were really good. I was talking to the daughter of the owner about the enchiladas and she made me one to try. The tortillas are all freshly made. This is a great family run restaurant. Not fancy but clean and the ladies are very nice. You order at the counter and pick your food up when ready. We will definitely return! Please support family run businesses. “Quaint authentic Mexican restaurant. Having lived 6 years in Mexico, I know authentic! I ordered the Torta Regia. LOADED with refried beans, pineapple, country fried thin steak, lettuce, tomato, avacado, jalapeño, and panela cheese. SO GOOD!Very friendly staff. Google says they're open until 9pm. We showed up just before 8. We realized they were closing after we ordered, but they were super friendly and not annoyed at us. All the staff wore masks, and wore them PROPERLY. Very happy about that. We don't live in Gainesville, but we will come back!!“

“I love the food here. Only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of customer service and the chairs. Each time I’ve been I don’t feel welcomed. Employees will literally look at you and not say anything while you wait for them to come and take your order. At least say hello and I’ll be with you in a minute. Also, the tables and chairs are uncomfortable. Other than that I love the food and come here very often. Especially late evening on the weekends.“
