“I Recently moved to North Augusta. A friend from Savannah called to tell me about McNeelys Place. What a treat my first visit was. Homemade Chicken Pie, collard greens, wonderful Mac and cheese and good cornbread. Even the tea was great. I felt like I had stepped back in time and was eating at my Mothers table. The dining rooms were attractive and spotlessly clean. The staff was friendly and efficient. We met the cook who was delightful in addition to being talented. I brought home a box of delicious vegetables. Already planning my next visit.“

“I remember hearing about the Boll Weevil cafe from classmates when I was a student at Augusta University but didn’t have the chance or time to go. While visiting the Augusta a few days ago with my mother, we decided to have lunch at the cafe. We were quite impressed with the restaurant being located near the waterfront. We both ordered the Salmon Meridian which was a grilled salmon placed on top of fried green tomatoes. We then had the option of a soup or salad with the course. I chose the Tomato apple soup and my mother the corn chowder. The tomato soup was a quite the surprise with the Fuji apples giving a sweet aftertaste along with the savory taste of the tomatoes. My mom’s corn chowder was creamy and as it said on the menu had a little kick to it! As for our main course, the salmon was tender with the fried green tomatoes adding some extra flavor to the dish. We also had excellent service from the staff who were kind enough to let us know what soups/salads were available for lunch. With excellent food, service and a welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant gets a big recommendation from me!“

“Classic dive bar and eatery experience, but with way more space and far better food. The skillets are delicious, though a little too much for a weak stomach given the combination of foods.

Pork sliders were great, wings were great, and the tendies were great. Beer selection looked good, though we didn't drink while in town for an event.“

But the biggest impression -- the reason we'll continue to come back, and more frequently -- is because of Ariana Warner. She made our evening fantastic with her warm charm, professionalism and knowledge, and attention to detail and comfort. It's rare to find such Five-Star/Five-Diamond wait-staff in a family restaurant. Adriana proved that perspective wrong. And my grandson gave her a big smile and goodbye when we left...he too thought she was wonderful. Now, this is where I have a problem. Ive eaten at restaurants all over the world, I have adhered to many dress codes. A 600.00 Cowboy hat is part of a look that is acceptable in many fine dining restaurants all over the Country. To embarrass someone and tell someone to remove a hat, due to a poorly posted " No hat Policy " is ridiculous. Its not like a ratty, sweat band crusted Masters Baseball cap or similar. This is why I'll take our 300.00 + dollar dining elsewhere, not for lack of food but character.“

“Had a 10/10 experience for dinner. We didn’t have a reservation, which we can see why it is preferred, but the staff was still able to find us a table since we got there shortly after opening hours. “THE BEST DFAC ON FT GORDON. I say again, the best DFAC on Ft. Gordon. I’ve been coming to DFAC 13 for a couple months now, and It’s always the first thing I look forward to when starting my day. Omelets, cereal, smoothies, salad bar, desserts, drinks, etc. What more could you ask for? Most if not all the staff is super friendly and helpful, and you really grow close to them after a while. The portion sizes are really good and as hinted at above, there’s plenty of things to help supplement your meal. The omelette line is also a major plus, although sometimes it can take a while. There’s plenty of seating and the lines during lunch are at most 25 minutes.“

I'm from the south so when you somewhere you expect the cheese grits to be blah... BUT NO.. Their cheese grits had so much flavor they were amazing. “This course is sooooo much better than any of these previous reviews would leave you to believe. The greens are mint the fairways are plush. I honestly wish I could have see what everyone else has been seeing. I will say some of the cart path areas are rough but a far cry from back breaking everywhere. Most the time you can just drive around the areas. Also there are water areas through out as well to refill your water which is also a nice upgrade. All in all I loved it I will def play again if in the area.“
