“This is the best bar on the southside. Manny is the best bartender in my opinion. He always acknowledges you when you come in and makes sure you have a good time. Nick and a few other staff also are good about stepping in to help out it make's your experience great. This bar gives you that home away from home vibe most of us in our 30s look for.“

I called Big Daddy's Soul Food to let them know and Big Daddy himself made sure that I got my food fresh and hot as he had one of his employees deliver it to me. “Barrio ATL is an entire VIBEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I ended up here on a Thursday. I was in the Cascade area and in the mood for tacos. After a search on Yelp Barrio ATL popped up and was where we headed for the night. As a heads up, Barrio ATL sits in the corner of the strip plaza. As such, the parking can be a bit tight so be sure to choose a space accordingly. Upon walking in, the ambiance puts you in the mindset of a trendy hookah lounge. Wall seating, chairs, and tables are to the left, and a VIP area style is to the right. The DJ is directly to the left of the VIP area and the bar area is to the left of the DJ. The building is medium-sized and build rectangular so there is ample length as compared to the width. There was no one at the Hostess booth when I walked in, however, the young lady got up from one of the tables in the back, greeted me, and quickly took us to our table. Once seated, the waitress assigned to our table came over and was super nice and welcoming. She introduced herself as Shay and went over the specials for the night. As the ambiance is more than just a casual bar, Shay’s service was superior. Her personality shined and she enhanced the overall experience of the night. Thank you, Shay! Based on the specials for the night I decided to go with the 3 Chicken Birriia Tacos for $9 (this was a great deal as they are usually $20) and a side of fries. As they didn’t have Sweet Tea on the menu I ordered a bottle of water. Shout out to Barrio ATL for serving Fiji. Ha. Babeeeeeeeeee… Here me when I tell you… I don’t know what kind of potatoes these fries were made with but they were the BOMBBBBBBBB. They were thick, perfectly fried, golden to perfection, and well seasoned. For the record, I would go back for the fries alone. LoL! The birria tacos were good as well. As this was my first time having them I don’t have anything to compare them to, however, I enjoyed the experience. The crunchiness of the taco shell with the well-seasoned chicken. The birria consomé was well seasoned and definitely enhanced the flavor of the taco, as such, for my first birria experience I enjoyed it. Furthermore, if the chicken was this good, I can’t wait to try the beef. Overall Barrio ATL is def one to add to the checklist when you are looking for a vibe. The DJ was on point, the ambiance was hittin like it needed to be, and the overall flow of the environment was ideal for a kick it/unwind/grab a drink type of vibe.“

She did an amazing job by explaining each item on the menu. I Gave Her The Opportunity Of Ordering My Food and Beer. Oh Boy She Did Not Disappoint. I had the Blackened Catfish with rice and beans and an Orange Still Diva Beer To Drink. It was her two favorite items and I had no complaints! “I've eaten here a lot over the years. The food is sadly not what it used to be. The mac & cheese had zero seasoning when I went this weekend. I do understand that with home-cooked food, there will be variations in the flavor from time to time. So I can forgive that.

However, the one thing that is not so forgivable is that they added a 25% restaurant fee at some point. I didn't realize it until I got home and looked at the receipt. Between the 25% restaurant fee plus a 15% tip, I ended up paying 40% extra for to-go food. That felt shady. I have always liked supporting this place but if you are going to add a 25% fee, you need to be more up front about it.“

“My first visit to this little Gem. Very popular with Airport employees. I ordered Jambalaya, Mac n cheese and coco bread. I requested some brown gravy over the Jambalaya. The flavor was absolutely amazing. That dish needs to be family size. The Mac was perfectly cheesy and the bread was Hot and Fresh. It was also nice chatting with the cook or owner. “The food taste amazing. The YouTube video I saw about the food served at this restaurant was not lying about how the food taste. I had a whiting fish plate and chicken wings were delicious and so were the sides. I had green beans, mashed potatoes, candies yams, and red beans and rice. All were flavorful, uniquely spiced, and tasted home made.

“So I just left from up here and I typically stop here maybe once a week or a very frequent enough to know exactly what I want. I only come this way to order the fried green tomatoes in the past I’ve had issues but whoever the owner is has always made it right. I respect them as a business. I do enjoy their food, but whoever the chef is up there today and the cashier I just ordered a large order of fried green tomatoes. I paid $10.26. I open my container and it’s only five slices of tomatoes and they are tiny. I get it whatever tomato is on hand depending on if they’re in season or not it is the summer. They are definitely in season and it’s just no excuse for this sorry excuse for a large order $10 worth of fried green tomatoes. Whoever chef James is he is the reason single-handedly that I will not be returning. I just called up there and try to double check and make sure that he knew it was a large order and not a small order and he decided to double down on these small soggy worthless tomatoes $10 for five slices of green tomatoes and I come up there enough to know this is a small order and typically a large order contain 7 to 8 slices and they are much bigger. This is bull crap if I pay it with my card, I would have disputed it.“
