“Mikiya is my go-to all-you-can-eat shabu shabu spot in Honolulu.

Yes, it can be a little pricey, but if you’re someone who can really eat, it’s absolutely worth it. I highly recommend getting the membership. Not only do you get a discount for yourself, but you can also bring a friend and they receive the discount as well, which makes it a great value.

What really sets Mikiya apart is the service. A lot of all-you-can-eat restaurants tend to slow down service once you start ordering, but Mikiya is the complete opposite. The staff is incredibly fast, attentive, patient, and friendly. Refills and additional orders come out quickly, and we’ve always felt well taken care of.

The quality of the meat is excellent, and I love the sauce bar. Everything is always fresh, well-stocked, and there are so many options to customize your meal exactly how you like it.

If you’re thinking about trying Mikiya, definitely come hungry! Great food, great service, and consistently a great experience every time. It’s easily one of my favorite restaurants on the island.“

“This is a great place for grill, the meat served is high quality. It is a small place so get there early to beat the crowed. I highly recommend the cow tongue and the skirt steak. The tongue is sliced thing and is very tender. The sampler plater is a good choice to get several different cuts.

“Showed up for a late lunch on a Sunday and didn't realize it is open from 11-3PM then reopens at 5-9PM. So then I returned for dinner right at 5 when it opened for the evening. This restaurant is also on RESY and I wasn't able to get a reservation online for the night. Luckily we were able to be seated right away! And the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and prompt. There were not many people there, and the ambiance was nice but relaxed. Shared the Chicken Karaage, a spicy tuna roll, and Washugyu Yakinuku for two and it left us content but full!

I enjoyed the White Yuzu Ale with the meal. The chicken was crunchy and came with a nice side salad, and a small bowl of extra seasoning- which I definitely recommend using on the chicken.

The spicy tuna roll had 8 pieces, and came out fairly quick- within a few minutes of ordering. It tasted fresh as well.

The Washugyu Yakinuku comes with a plethora of small sides including tempura (shrimp and some vegetables), salad, pickled vegetables, and two slices of salmon and tuna each. The Beef is to be cooked by yourself over the flame, which lasts only 20 minutes so be sure to do this right when you get it. The beef tasted fresh and delicious but a bit fattier than expected- there also is a small bowl of sauce that comes on the tray and I recommend dipping each piece of meat in the sauce after you cook it to your liking.

There is a lot of free parking in the vicinity at the Whole Foods parking garage or the parking garage attached to the movie theater across the street.

To note- I have had their takeout here once as well and in my opinion I believe their food is better at dine in.“

“If you’re craving something warm and comforting, this is a great spot to check out. You can tell the ingredients are fresh. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for dinner with family or friends. The service was friendly, although it slowed down a bit once the restaurant got busy. It’s not the cheapest meal, but I think the quality makes it worth it.Overall, I had a really good experience and would definitely come back whenever I’m in the mood for a comforting hot pot meal.“

“It was so delicious and the waiter was so nice. Very cozy little spot. There was a mentally ill person that was being loud and well, saying I was nasty, but they took care of it very quickly. I wouldn't list that detour you and I 'm sure that doesn't happen often there and I would definitely go again! The #2 popular soup base I would definitely recommend!“
