“Would have came here for the third time within 5 days if I could! I tried the basil pesto, arugula and shrimp burger. I'd rate them as follows: 9/10, 8.5/10 and 11/10. The basil pesto burger can get soggy if not eaten right away and the arugula burger could have used more balsamic and arugula flavor profile. However, the shrimp burger with wasabi aioli was perfect. It's genuinely the best seafood burger I have ever tried.

Disclaimer: the patties are thick and they are more of an gourmet burger spot, so you will have to wait some time for them to prepare you food. Otherwise, I wish they open a spot in LA at some point!“

“I was visiting Honolulu from Wisconsin, and this food truck ended up being one of the best surprises of the whole trip. I’ll be honest the walk to it looks a little sketchy at first since you head down this small alley, but don’t let that fool you. Once you get back there, it’s a whole different story. The customer service was awesome super friendly, super welcoming. And the food? Straight-up 10/10. The loaded barbecue fries were insane, packed with flavor and totally worth every bite. “Operating out of a yakiniku restaurant, this place is a gem! Amazing smash burger. I’ve gone three times in the past couple of weeks and each time did not disappoint. I’m a creature of habit so I got the Double OG3 Deluxe and OG3 Fries. One friend got the Waygu, one the plain cheeseburger, and another the same as me and all loved it. Fries are nice and crispy with the special OG3 sauce. Reminiscent of In-n-out animal style fries, but fries are crinkle cut and much better than In-n-out. Highly recommend if you like a good smash burger!“

They are in the same neighborhood as my shop (in Kaimuki) so I get to go way more often than before but I still have to drive there so it is usually a once a week special treat for myself and the crew. He was so adamant that I had to get something from this smash burger truck. I grabbed a double smash burger with grilled onions and a mango lemonade.

Everything was bussing. Especially for the price… you can’t beat it.

I definitely recommend everyone to try it yourself. The bun was grilled, the patty was well seasoned and the bacon bits that were on there definitely made this burger a 9.5/10.

“Originally recommended to me by my former boss, Island Sub is a classic, no-nonsense spot. I have to confess: in my opinion, they have the absolute best onion rings in Hawaii. They don't make them from scratch—they are pre-cooked, frozen, and shipped—but whatever they do in the kitchen to fry them makes them unbeatable. Hands down, the best.

While I've tried a few different items over the years, my absolute go-to is the Meatball Sub. I usually order the half size, but this time I treated myself to the full. It’s a beautifully simple combination of tomato sauce, melted cheese, and meatballs, and I’ve never had a single complaint about it.

It’s a wonderful family-owned business where the husband holds down the kitchen and the wife manages the front of the house. They’ve been running it this way since well before COVID. The restaurant itself hasn't changed at all in the ten years I've been visiting, even though the surrounding strip mall has undergone some modern renovations. The interior does look a little run-down and dated, but that's alright—I usually take my food back to the office rather than dining in anyway.

“The food was so good! Ok, there's no indoor dining and the outdoor dining is really rough but during our meal there the locals seemed to love it and for good reason. This is what I imagine authentic Hawaiian BBQ for the working man is like. When you go to a BBQ place and see the orange construction either shirts, is probably going to be good and it was. The girl at the register recommend the beef short ribs and they were amazing. My wife had the teriyaki chicken and it had amazing flavor, though a bit overcooked, I still finished it if for her gladly. My only warning: one dish is plenty for two hungry people! We were getting ready to head to the airport and didn't want any to go to waste, so we have half to a mother with four teenage boys. They were 😊. Definitely will return next time we visit the island.“
