“Stopped in for a bite after snorkeling yesterday. The service was great, the place was really clean and the food came out in less than 10 minutes. We got the Katsu Mac n cheese balls and the Kaluha pork quesadilla. Both were cooked perfectly, not greasy and nice size portions. A great little find!”

“This place is a must visit! Took my pup here for their free tractor tour ride and we had such an amazing time. Their cafes are run completely from everything grown and made at their farm. We had the açaí bowl and it was deeeelish! The farm is super cute and has a nice lawn with ample seating so you can enjoy your goodies. Totally worth the long trek from town.”

“This is a place that you need to plan accordingly the wait for our order was 50 minutes and they have no seating so we called ahead and planned a beach day where we could enjoy our lunch. On the website they do caution you that it’s not fast food and normally takes 40-50 minutes so don’t expect great food to be ready in 5 minutes. It’s definitely worth the wait since everything we ordered was excellent! I can’t imagine how good it would be if we ate it after being freshly made.They make their noodles so everything is cooked fresh and made to order. You can even see the noodles being made in the shop. We ordered the Garlic Ulu Portabello, Lechon Malunggay, Adobong Lechon Kawali and then made our own pasta where you pick the noodles, sauce and protein. Servings size are huge so we all shared and got to try a lot of food. My fav was definitely the Lechon Malunggay. Lechon was so crispy and the noodles so tasty. But everything was sooo deliciousThe lady at the counter was so friendly.”

“Wow! I actually couldn’t stop eating and I was full. It was amazing! We also had the pepper jack cheese bomb that’s battered. It was so crispy on the outside, and still so soft and moist. It was perfectly done! My husband and I both left so happy with what we had ordered. The atmosphere was perfect, easy to get in and out. The staff was super friendly. “It was a cold day on the beach but warm more inland and found this spot while looking for a bite to eat and had to stop after seeing the cane juice sign. It was super refreshing and served with the island hospitality which is my favorite thing about HI...oh and the sunsets.”

“I've been a Kaya's Store customer for over 70 years, from back when it was a small general store providing Punalu'u families everything from hardware, ropes and wire, screen, fishing tackle and glass boxes and spears, plumbing parts, cook- & table-ware, groceries, local fruits and vegetables, kerosene, paper kites and string, Duncan yo-yos, gasoline & oil, cold drinks in a iced cooler and treats for kids like popsicles, li hing mui, red ginger, rock candy and candy bars. Kaya's was always a warm and welcoming place, run by a wonderful family. Family members knew their local customers by name and offered helpful advice and tips on home repairs, fishing, gardening and recipes for local-style dishes. Today, they offer an array of superbly-prepared dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My recommendations are too plentiful to list - one should order with confidence, you won't be disappointed. My advice is to keep coming back and try them all! Kaya's also offers a helpful array of well-chosen foods, drinks and staples for weekly sustainment or for those quick, last minute items to complete a meal preparation. “In planning to relive a memorable dining experience and coming from Waikiki, I did not want to come up to Hauula just to get a plate of food. I did a Yelp search and this was one of two businesses that had a 4+ star rating so I bookmarked it as another stop. Using Google maps on my phone, we reached here a little after 11 am on a Monday morning. A gentleman was seated at one of the tables under the tent who we later learned is part of the business. As we walked up to the truck, we read the menu posted on the truck ( After reading it, I asked the lady who manned the truck for her recommendation and she answered without hesitation. A few minutes later, we both were under the tent and eating our spicy garlic lemon shrimp plate ( At first glance, I was surprised by the size of the shrimp which I would almost categorize as prawns. Need proof of how much I like it... burp ( The sauce was delicious and not overly spicy. My experience with shrimp truck plates is limited as I've only dined at that famous Haleiwa one across from the McD's as you enter town. I liked this more and the accompaniments were certainly more interesting... I enjoy canned corn and don't start me about pineapples. The sweetness of both contrasted well with the tangy, spicy, garlicky sauce on the shrimp and my rice. Before leaving, I was curious and asked the lady's nationality and name. Big thanks to Ms. Zhao or Zhou (sp) for steering us to an enjoyable lunch (she's from a Northeastern province in China). Every time we come to eat here and pickup food we are treated like family and feel like the owners are offering their love and passion into their community and delicious food. “Here you meet the most lovely people in Oahu. The servers are sweet and kind. We are sipping shaved ice mano passion fruit and drinking coconut milk from the coconut, and listening to music and Israel's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and a Wonderful World. I became immediately sentimental with this beautiful rendition of such a lovely song, bringing a gentle tear to my eye, as I remember thankfully, the beautiful moments, bountiful and joyful days of my life. “A nice place to stop on the way to the North Shore. In addition to the restaurant, inside there is a gift shop and jewelry counters. We ordered the half chicken plate and the shell-on garlic shrimp plate, which were each $18. Chicken was cooked well and had a subtle sweet smoky flavour. I recommend the shrimp too, which were buttery, garlicky, fresh, and plentiful. The mac salad was the best I've had on this trip so far. Loved that they have lots of seating inside and big bathrooms to wash your hands before/after your meal. Will definitely come back.”

“big j's combo (4.8/5): comes with rice with pulehu ribs and garlic shrimp. the ribs were AMAZING! they are thick and grilled/charred perfectly, i would come back just for these ribs alone. the garlic shrimp was too mayo-y(?) for my liking, but the actual shrimp were a good size and so good! great option to get if you want surf & turf, but the ribs are where it's at. when i came here in august 2023, the restaurant was to-go only. they had a table blocking the entrance to the restaurant, where a staff member would take orders and payment. the woman who took my order was so so friendly! since you couldn't enter the restaurant, there was only 2-3 tables outside where everyone shared seating. i highly recommend this place if you're used to eating the standard thin galbi ribs, this will change your life!”

“New favorite restaurant. Seriously. This experience could not have been better. Right away the shrimp shack staff were kind, welcoming and friendly, it'd be hard not to be happy in such a beautiful location, right across from the beach with the breeze coming off the water. This spot has a fantastic menu, the three of us went with two plates to share but we could've downed four plates easy. Their coconut shrimp is one of the best bites of my life, served with a mango honey sauce that it SO GOOD and they're being SO CHILL about selling it, they could put up a sign or something to let people driving by know they have maybe the best sauce I've ever had. Their garlic shrimp was great as well, the Mahi Mahi with grilled onions was the other star of the day, I suggest loading up on coconut shrimp and the mango sauce, as much of the mango sauce as you can get away with, and Mahi Mahi and enjoying it all as we did at their tables by the sea. A beautiful experience. This place is a must stop.”
