“My sister and I had the most delightful visit! We grabbed some mocktails and a ginormous soft pretzel, and everything was just perfect. The scenery is gorgeous, the service is fast, and the staff are super friendly — they checked on us regularly to make sure we were enjoying everything.

I had the Pineapple Don Key and my sister had the Salty Sunrise, and both were delicious! I loved that each drink came with a little garnish — my drink had a slice of lime and a tiny flower, and my sister’s had a slice of lemon with a flower. Such a cute, thoughtful touch!

Everything about this spot made our afternoon feel special — we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great drinks, a fun pūpū, and a welcoming atmosphere!”

“We stumbled across Sugar Skull while on vacation. The carrot cake is the best I have ever had. We just had 12 packs of macaroons shipped to us for my son’s 14th birthday. He is in heaven!”

“I frequently stop by the food truck row for a quick business lunch, but most places have a 15-minute wait. I tried Thai Elephant last Tuesday and was impressed by how quickly they moved without the food feeling rushed.' I got the Pad See Ew, and the noodles had that wonderful burned flavor that you generally only find in sit-down restaurants!”

“We stopped to get some dessert to go with the dinner we were going to make after a rainy day of sightseeing. I picked the sweet potato haupia pie, my husband had the lilikoi chiffon with cream cheese, and my nephew had the 4 pc Ube Mochi. We each tried a taste of each other’s desserts and I liked the lilikoi dessert the best. I forgot to take pics of the desserts but we also bought a dozen of taro rolls which we used for breakfasts egg sandwiches for 2 of the days. Ruth was so helpful and friendly in answering all my questions about the desserts in helping my selection. My mom grew up in Hawaii and used to make haupia and delicious rolls so it brought back some sweet memories and was especially fitting since part of our reason for our trip was to scatter some of her ashes.”

“Our family very recently vacationed in Kauai to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. I had reached out to Ko Bakery several weeks before our trip to have a cake made to surprise my parents. We chose the Haupia with Lime buttercream and also got a dozen cupcakes (yellow cake with chocolate buttercream) for the kiddos. The cake and cupcakes were AMAZING!!!! Their customer service is incredible (especially since we were communicating through email) and pick up was a breeze. I highly recommend Ko Bakery!!!”

“Both times we had JoJo’s shaved ice while visiting Kauai the shaved ice was great! However I do have to say, the employees working the Kapa’a location was much more welcoming and friendlier than the Hanalei location.”

“We found JPs via google reviews and wow, the pizza was simply outstanding. We live in the Chicagoland area and we’ve had some great pizza. JP’s is some of the very best pizza we’ve ever had. Super fresh ingredients and outstanding flavors. We enjoyed it so much we went back a second time on the last day of our trip. JP’s Dad was working the counter and he was so nice to us and to every customer. JP knows pizza so don’t miss out on something amazing.”

Because our server, Joy made the whole dining experience enjoyable. She's been here more than 20 years and still had a smile for us every time she visited the table, which was just often enough but not too often.
Because Jaime (and his trainee) did a great job with all the little things like water and clearing dishes.
Because the food was absolutely delicious. The coconut scallops were cooked to perfection, the lamb chops tender, juicy and very nicely seasoned. The Hawaiian seafood platter was perfect and the mahi mahi was also delicious. We topped it off with the molten chocolate lava cake with ice cream.
The host also did a great job, seating us at our reserved time.
Everything was flawless, bravo Tidepools, it's hard to orchestrate everything so well, but you did it.
Did I mention Joy? What a delightful person.
Finally, the restaurant is beautiful with views of the ocean, koi pools all around with lots of colorful fish, open to the outside (but fully indoors too!), easy to get around and enough distance between tables to have a peaceful conversation.”

“I was a little worried when I got there and they didn't have much left in their show case but it turns out there was a reason for that. This place is great. We tried a couple sandwiches and some donuts and every single thing was amazing. I was sad that we found it so for to the end of our trip. Will definitely be stopping there tomorrow before our flight leaves. They still limit it to four guests inside which I enjoyed with as many people that we saw on our trip that were sick.”
