“Locally owned and operated family restaurant. Fair prices, healthy portions, properly cooked food, good service, and clean environment. I would definitely recommend to anyone. I had the Loco Moco plate and my family had the breakfast plates plus a cheeseburger. Bacon was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly over medium. Burgers cooked through and not burnt. I wanted to add a little salt and hot sauce to my plate but it was good without as well.“

“Okay I was very skeptical when this was suggested in my group. As tourists, it seemed like a weird hang. I was proved wrong. Go to the left side of the building, away from the bowling alley, and it was quieter and more diner like.The teriyaki and the pork and cabbage plates was delicious. Lots of food given! “We just love L&L. It’s just a no frills grab a plate and go kind of place. Sometimes that’s perfect. A lot of times that’s perfect. The food is always quick, reliable, tasty, consistent, and priced to make it easy to return frequently when you don’t feel like cooking. The staff are always nice and welcoming to us.

Parking: Never had an issue parking in the huge lot.

Kid-friendliness: Always kids inside.

“I need to start out by acknowledging how incredible the staff was. Engaged with our daughter, great about being patient while we ordered and taking time to make us feel like we were regular customers. That right there, is how you build loyalty. Nothing but love from this Canadian. Everyone working December 5th 2024, is who you want always representative of your business.

Now, the secondary qualities: the coffee is perfect. Not even a hint of bitterness or lqcking any substantial flavor. Just get a 12 of black coffee and appreciate what quality coffee does as a consumer.

The frozen Ube coffee was awesome, full flavor, not overly sweet, and really just hit all the spots for us.

The music wasn't overly loud, the atmosphere was so much easier to take in and appreciate, and the vibe they've worked on establishing is already there and balanced for any customer. We'll be back, and will make a point to support HiCo moving forward.

Update: went back and ordered the loaded spam musubi, the food is absolutely also a valid reason to visit. The strawberry gin is incredible as well. Cant recommend enough.“

“Located in a local, non touristy food court. Food was fine but we carried the food back to the car to eat as the tables and chairs were full of bird poop (open air setting). Bathrooms facilities require a code to enter but was not very clean.“

“This was the best meal I had on the island. I had a bento box with the Kalua Pork and spicy jungle sauce. Great flavor and the serving size was large. Dragonfruit lemonade was also a good treat! Highly recommend.“

“I have always loved the smell of coffee, but unfortunately could not get past the acidic taste. Kona coffee café introduced me to Peaberry Kona coffee. This is the first time that I have ever been able to drink coffee let alone really enjoy it. The friendly staff explained how the volcanic soil and the timing of picking the bean changed the acidity in the coffee. Since being home, I’ve already placed an order and I am enjoying my coffee every morning. Thank you so much for introducing me to this amazing drink!“

“I can’t say enough good things about 808 Grindz Cafe. We ate here TWICE during our vacation because the food was absolutely amazing, and the flavors were spot on. Everything tasted so fresh and well-prepared. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a great meal with family or friends.

The prices were very affordable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. It’s rare to find such a gem that delivers so much without breaking the bank. “I went to the Hilo location with my mother last night and was treated in a very racist and disgusting manner by the FOH staff. There were many empty tables yet the host avoided talking to us for a half hour. Then when I asked one of the waiters if we can sit at one of the open tables he said, "He cant let us do that" Then when I finally was able to talk to the host. He said it would be a 40 min wait for food. Ok I get it, the kitchen is swamped. So I say can we just sit right there pointing at the table he just cleaned. He says "no". Keep in mind there were at least four more empty tables. So we decided to leave. On the way out the thought comes into my mind, that he is going to seat the people who walked in behind us. So I tell my mother to wait a second and I go back in to look and there goes the host immediately seating these people bringing them water and menus. So I head back in and ask him "Whats going on here? Can I talk to a manager?" He tells me there are no managers. Then the waiter at the bar who said he couldnt do anything to let us sit down, says "I am the manager" So they lied to my face. Then I go to the bartender she barely bothers to tall to me and says "we are all managers" and that then tries to defend this discriminatory behavior by saying they are not being prejudiced against us. Yet the people behind us are chilling and going over their menus. and here we are not able to even talk to a manager never the less receive service at this racist establishment. We were systemically blocked from sitting. Then some manager esque fellow comes out trying to do damage control after all of this ongoing nonsense. To little to late. Im not going to eat spit burger with some bigot lougies in it. Mind you both my 76 year old mother have hosted various business meet ups there over the yeara bringing them business supporting Ola Brew and they treat us like this. Do not support businesses like this in Hilo. black people of Hilo be aware. This place will treat you second class. Over priced too, for the worst kind of service. dont do it, dont eat there.“

“Incredible fresh ahi!!! My friend and I visited on a Sunday night around 6:30. We sat at the bar because there was a line and it was the perfect spot for us. We both got the poke flight with rice and a mai tai (not the ordinary Mai tai but HUGHKY recommend! Very boozy so beware if you do not like that but I love it). You get to choose 4 of their house pokes which are all incredible! I will be here every time I visit the island 🤙🏻 Aloha!

Parking: Gets busy right by the restaurant as there are a ton of places in the Sam spot, but there is a parking lot right over the fence (have to walk around) that always has open spots.
