“We found this place on another online platform after going to the Dole Plantation. It is located in a strip mall that looks old and run down so we were skeptical. We located the restaurant in the corner of the lot (next to the Goodwill). We sent a scout in take a look prior lol. The scout gave us the all clear so we entered the restaurant, which was clean and had open tables. We were greeted by a nice man who took the time to get to know us and give us some island history. Ok to the food: There were 4 of us. Each ordered a different entree. 1. Spam hand roll and a tempura hand roll - deliciousness 2. Energy roll- this tasted very fresh and was a roll with eel and avocado on top with eel sauce- deliciousness 3. Ahi poke bento box- came out looking just like the picture on the menu( how many times does that happen!) lots of fresh fish and rolls- deliciousness 4. Tempura shrimp bowl with spicy sauce on top. Tempura shrimp Packed in a bowl on a bed of rice. - deliciousness 5. Spicy ahi poke bowl- came out with tons of fresh ahi covered in spicy mayo and sriracha sauce. - delicious if you like spicy fresh fish. This mom and pop shop deserves your business. The food (all of it) tasted fresh and made with care. I would not write it if it wasn’t true. They will serve you a complimentary miso soup to start ( no spoons here, sip out of cup!) All in all great grub. We will be back!“
“The place is nicely decorated and the staff were really nice. It's a buffet style so they give you the soup st start with and you pick things to put in your soup from the fridge. I think its about $35-38 a person. Not exactly sure, but they do military discount only on the person with an ID not the whole partyParking: It's a small parking lot in the front and a small lot in the back“
“First time at this restaurant. The inside was quite plain, but when the food hit the table, I understood what the fuss about this place was. My wife got the chicken Pho and I got the BBQ chicken/ spring roll vermicelli. Super fresh and delicious. Pricing was fair.“
“Food is exceptional. Showed up as a picky eater. No fish. Food here is so damn good I've started eating new foods and have been at this sushi spot well over 50 times in the past 4 yearsGo to's are-Calvin's choice-SOS-Red Dragon-Spicy AhiBut holy S#!T the food here is fire a must whether tourist or live here best damn sushi on the island, always playing fire kpop music going goblin mode and great vibes. This place is a MUST puts dorakus to shame plus, fraction of the price. Get you some good a$$ sushi and stop by.“
“Excellent food and vibes! Cute little outdoor patio under umbrellas and a big tree. Mini poke with spicy garlic tuna was hands down some of the best poke I’ve ever had! Takoyaki was delicious too ? workers were super friendly and nice. Ingredients were fresh and you could tell.Parking: There’s no parkingKid-friendliness: Environment very kid friendly :)“
“Must try the pisco sour if you haven't had this Peruvian white alcohol. A lot like Tequila. The drink has a nutmeg flavour. Also tried the Pasha Mama. A vegetarian dish with a Japanese influence and quinoi. I chose to add Marlin - freshly caught. Loved the Japanese fusion of flavours.“
“Small but very friendly restaurant tucked away in Mililani mauka. The girl up front was very nice and friendly. The food was very good I didn’t know what to expect. The shoyu pork was amazing definitely would get again. My wife got the ahi cakes and she enjoyed them too. My son got the teriyaki chicken it was a little dry, but he did enjoy the hotdog. Would definitely go back and try other dishes.“
“Great place to get authentic local Hawaiian food, and it's away from the tourism. Service was awesome and the prices are reasonable. I will go back 100%!Parking: There were a lot of cars in the lot but the place was pretty empty when we were there. I'm guessing people use it for commuter parking or something else.“
“Some much to say about this place. High quality sushi is the most important. The service was great. The staff is quick and attentive. We choose to eat at the traditional sit down Japanese seating and it was a great experience. I can't rave enough about the qauilty of the sushi. I would rate this place higher if possible they are doing everything right. Don't miss a chance to eat here!“
“Old school, as in decades old turning out two menu items: 1. Small Bento - $9 (1 hand formed unseasoned musubi, 1 piece maki sushi with seasoned tuna and dried shrimp, 1 plain sushi, 1/3 boiled hotdog, seasoned tofu, and 3 boneless pieces of sweet chili pepper chicken thigh). The seasoning for the sushi rice is very light, not vinegar and slightly sweet. 2. Large Bento $11 (Add an well seasoned inari sushi, slice of luncheon meat and boiled shrimp). Items have changed over the years and there was a momentary dip in quality when the matriarch passed and the next generation found its footing but it's back. Warning: All the food is premade and is at room temp. If it bothers you, it's called a microwave. Will you like it? That depends. When it comes to old school okazuya flavors, what you grew up with is what you think is good. This is the food I grew up with. Fourth generation Japanese American whose family originally immigrated from Fukushima and raised subsequent generations around the Waipahu plantation that was largely Japanese. Sugar, light soy, ginger, sake. Sweet and light flavors. To me, good eats.“
“Rock n' Sushi is my FAVORITE sushi spot on Oahu. I love visiting for birthdays, big celebrations, or just when I want a fancier dinner. Rock n' Sushi's rolls are my favorite things to order and I recommend sitting at the bar if your party is on the smaller end. Their rolls have a great mix of flavors and always HIT! I also recommend the miso eggplant, something so simple is SO good! Don't underestimate their desserts either, I always get the tempura ice cream and sometimes they have seasonal flavors from Lapperts. Service is normally good, love the man behind the sushi bar! Reserve ahead of time so you don't have to wait outside.“
“I had very high hopes for this place.A few weeks ago, I stopped by for the first time and got beef curry and gyoza to go. It was spectacular! Decided to go for the ramen next visit. And I did.I wanted to get the thickest, most robust flavored soup, so I got the "Special" tonkotsu black garlic ramen.I really liked the visual presentation. Very vibrant, neat and appetizing. As with most ramen takeouts, the soup and noodles were packaged in separate containers. Before pouring the soup into the ramen bowl, I took a little sip.It was a tad disappointing, as I had such high hopes for this shop. The soup was a bit on the bland side. I guess the fried garlic chips are supposed to carry the flavor but there's nothing else. What I did notice was a slight slimy texture and a hint of odor. This probably indicates that inferior pork bones were used to draw the soup stock. For those of you who don't know how tonkotsu soup is made, ignorance is bliss. If you knew exactly what's in it, you may be traumatized! So, I'll spare you the details. What I will say is that hours of boiling the pork bones is needed to extract the umami, but other ingredients are crucial too. Grated ginger, garlic cloves, salt and pepper are some of the common items that are used. Despite the shortcomings of the tonkotsu soup, I have high hopes that Rakumen could be a top contender in the ramen world if they tweaked their soup just a little bit. Use better quality pork bones would be one. Adding a bit more flavor would be the other. *I had some leftover soup, so I added a little grated ginger and garlic with a few drops of la-yu to it and already, it was about as good as the other ramen shops in town. I give them 4 stars despite the seemingly harsh critique of their tonkotsu, because of their prompt and courteous service. But most of all, I believe that they will only get better.Looking forward to visiting again to up them to 5 stars!“
“This place is fantastic! I was on my way to swap meet on Wednesday morning where my cousin suggested we eat here. I had never been and since I was visiting back home, I went with her suggestion. The food, perfect. The service, perfect. The atmosphere for just enjoying your food, perfect.I had the #58 where the guy put it likea little bit of breakfast, lunch and dinnerand that was spot on.Highly recommend trying it here“
“I've tried this place several times and finally got a chance to write a review. I've always ordered the 2-choice(combination) Teishoku and tried different kinds of items. After every visit, I must say, everything was good! The quality and presentation is top notch. This time, I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki and Mini Chirashi combination. The chicken was excellent. It was soft, and the teriyaki sauce was very flavorful, not overwhelming. The mini Chirashi (which was an extra charge of $4) came with ahi, salmon, shrimp, tako, and ika. Everything was fresh and tasty, especially when slightly dipped in wasabi/shoyu sauce. Tan ordered the combination salmon and spicy ahi. I had a piece of salmon, and it was cooked to perfection. The Spicy Ahi(another extra charge of $3) was also flavorful. It was more on the creamy side than on a chunky side. Both combinations were served with miso soup and a bowl of greens. Hot tea was also included. The only downside of all my visits was that they always ran out of Ahi Tempura. We came in 15 minutes after opening at 5:15 pm, and it was sold out 5 minutes prior. Hot item!! I would have given them a 4 star, but the food quality and customer service were superior. It made up for that star. It was so good we made a salmon takeout order for tomorrows lunch.“
“This place never fails. Butterfish is ono and the sushi bar is an experience all of itself. I always recommend Tadashi to visitors who want good sushi.Service is always pleasant and swift.Parking: Ample parking but can get full fast during dinner hour's“
“Yet another great place to take out sushi. Many options for nigiri, rolls, bowls, and bento. The salmon nigiri was particularly soft and everything was well made. Would visit again. Easy to find in the small foodcourt of Pearl Highlands with lots of parking.“
“One of the absolute best tonkatsu spots I've ever been. We went for lunch at noon on a Sunday and only had to wait around 30min for a table. I ordered the ebi and pork filet combo and it came out really quickly. The ebi was super flavorful, and the pork was supremely tender. Both were fried perfectly golden brown. The katsu sauce is a little on the sweet side, but definitely good. I loved the garlic miso dressing so much I bought a bottle to take home. I will absolutely be coming here again!“
“We had avoided dining here because of the health department finding them about 5 years ago. OUR LOSS! We tried it and was blown away by the food quality and taste! The restaurant is very clean, and so is the kitchen (visible through a large window behind the cashier). I've had the Japanese teshoku shrimp and the ramen set (tried the white broth which is boiled overnight and so impressed by its taste, that I ordered it again the next time we went there). Both were excellent. They also offerbrown rice which helps my diet restrictions. They are generous with the servings. The service is friendly and professional. It's become our new "go to" restaurant.Dietary restrictions: They offer brown rice.“
“It's ok for shabu shabu however the service could be better. Not only they keep reminding us we only have 1.30 min even before we seat they also forget to bring our protein. They have 2 choice standard all you can eat or for extra $5 premium. I guess it's ok. Also the stove is way too high so it's become Inconvenience.Vegetarian options: It's okDietary restrictions: HorribleParking: Free parkingKid-friendliness: NopeWheelchair accessibility: Nope“
“I pick up food for my mom a couple of times per month. I use their online ordering system ... It makes the process efficient and painless. The points card works too; spend $100 and get a $10 bento free. I love their unagi and garlic chicken bentos with the multi grain rice option ... delicious! Their salads are also great!“
“Love the environment of this place! It’s got great vibes and seems very family friendly. Portions are big which is a win! Friendly staff and chefs.Vegetarian options: There is vegetarian sushi rolls and taken into consideration. For hibachi, you can get just the veggies with rice/noodles. Butter is used for cooking but they will make it without/tell you ingredients. Separate parts of the girl are used for restrictions.Dietary restrictions: Staff always asks when ordering if there is any allergies or notes for the chef. This could be dietary or making sure meat is cooked well done due to pregnancies. Great at checking before cooking. Separate parts of the grill is used for dietary restrictions.Parking: Depending how busy, parking may be further away but it still close and within the shopping center parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Chefs put on a show catering towards children and family environments! Great staff that is super understanding.“
“Went to celebrate my wife's birthday this past Saturday at Kunis. The last time we went was last year when we celebrated my birthday. I called in the reservation but probably should have made it through Yelp since you can get a free birthday meal. Though it would probably need to be your actual birthday. The day of the dinner they called me to ask me a couple of questions like if we needed a high chair (got my 2 grandkids) and if we were celebrating anything. I told them it was for my wife's birthday, they asked if it was on that day and I honestly said no. Someone near us celebrated a birthday and they turned off the lights and sang happy birthday to her. I'd probably give the rating 4.5 if I could. I knocked off half a star as my Teri steak was cold. It was still ok, but I'm sure it would have been better hot/warm. I did really like the fried akule, that was good. Someone next to us got the family style dinner. They had a stand to place the multiple plates of food. That looked good, maybe next time. They have a fairly large parking lot but it is kind of dark. I'll definitely go back again to celebrate a special occassion.“
“Soooo deliciouso, I got on Uber eats, good price and good quality! Was ready very quick and they accommodated extra siracha and hoisin sauce for no extra fee which was very nice. Sooo give it a go, I only got the vegetable pho but rare beef on the side so idk about all the other things on the menu but the pho was very good!! I'll order again if I'm ever wanting some pho again“
“There was a wonderful koi pond in this restaurant. It was not that busy. However, they seemed shorthanded because I kept looking for the waitress for a take out box. Finally, I had to stand up and ask for one from a man in a red shirt who appeared to be helping another table. The food was good. I especially liked the tempura of pumpkin, and string beans, the shrimp tempura was perfect. I ordered miso Butterfish. My husband liked it, but I did not like that it had a lot of black char on it. I read somewhere that the black Char is carcinogenic.“
“Amazing portions and priced ramen. Best value and meal we had on our vacation, especially with all the daily specials they offer. The UMI Ramen challenge is ridiculous, basically three portions of noodles with all the protein fixings. A must try for the food challenge enthusiastic.“
“Thursday 9/7/2023 8:00pmLike the last post, I have to start by saying that the service was A-MAZING! It's hard to find nice people, with a can do attitude. My boyfriend and I had just takled a long day of shopping when we felt the urge to go eat dinner. From the moment we walked in the door, the service was top notch! The host, the server and the busser we had were all very attentive! Our waiter/server was Jaron and we were very grateful to have him! He was attentive without being pushy, but also very warm, funny and approachable! Ichiriki is so lucky to have him on staff! The dude should get a raise for that 120% effort he put out! Secondly, the FOOD was also AMAZING! Its the broth. REALLY REALLY good broth. Like, please take my money kind of broth! You have to order the first two listed on the menu!! The food, accompanied by such wonderful service left quite an impression on us. Tonight's experience was one for the books that will definitely have us coming back again on a future trip to oahu! Thanks again!“
“Great food service atmosphere. We took our friends for their first time eating here and they were impressed. Great customer service and we got in quickly to have our ono party boat. We love this place and what a treat to come here with great friends and Ohana.“
“Solid Japanese meal. Sushi seemed a little overpressed. Wish they'd offered green tea with the meal rather than at the end. Busy tonight, but nice service. Shave ice size got smaller this year. Key lime pie was nice. Ice cream/sorbet kinda steep price.“
“We were so busy tonight running errands that we had little time or thought for dinner. My wife and I were hungry and I didn't have much cash on me. We were on H1 headed home and called ahead for an order of pork fried rice. It was very good. We also asked for a small to go cup of vinegar to "kick it up a notch"! Lol. We also added a bit of Tabasco just to open the nasal passages. Lol. The response time was quick and the food hot and ready as soon as I got to the restaurant. We love the large healthy serving size for the money. My wife and I split it down the middle without argument, which was nice for a change. See the picture below and keep in mind this is one serving. Yup, well worth the visit. I'm stuffed!“
“Without a doubt, my very favorite fried noodles anywhere. Here I am back on the mainland reviewing this place because I am still thinking about them. I only found out about Sato's a couple years before they closed for good, so I was only able to eat there a few times during my trips back home. I went a few days before ther closure and had no idea they were closing. It was so sad when they did close. Fast forward to Hashi Okazuya opening in the same spot with what they said was the same fried noodle recipe as Satos. Could it be? Well, for me, the noodles have been just as good as I remember. The noodles have just the right amount of seasoning so you can actually taste the fried noodles themselves. Other places often have way too much salt or too much sweetness that you don't taste the noodles. Also, no kamaboko - which I do not like, so I don't have to pick the little pieces out. I always get a fried chicken with my noodles which is delicious. Nice that it's boneless but still skin on. The hash is pretty good too. The amount of food you get is a deal and the service has always been friendly.“
“My significant other and I came at 2pm on Saturday, 10/28/2023. The aunty working the counter was nothing less than kind, friendly, and amazing. Her service was GREAT! I wish I got her name but I hope she gets to hear/see this review because she went above and beyond. And overall, maybe our dining experience perfect.Total for everything was $45, which is great for 2 people who are looking for fast, tasty sushi. I've always loved ninja sushi waipio, and I truly believe they are one of few places who works constantly towards better quality and presentation. They've made so many improvements. 10/10“
“Our server Maika is amazing, first time ever here. I recommend this place he was amazing so professional and kind. Thanks so much for your hospitality, and excellent services. Now and days is hard to get this treatment and we were 5. Thanks great job.“
“Great Japanese food location in the mall! Its just like other Genki locations except that it does not serve alcohol and most of the seats are bar style seats facing the food delivery tracks. All the food was great and was delivered to the seat extremely fast. Price was more than fair. All in all, I was satisfied!“
“We are vegetarian and we’re very sad when they discontinued their vegan chicken. Today I tried their aloha mango passion salad which is basically fruits, nuts and cheese on lettuce. It was excellent!!! So refreshing and vegetarian friendly. We opted to eat in the Pearlridge food court which has a better atmosphere than the Aloha Salad Shop.Vegetarian options: Tofu or no added protein. Salads are still great!“
“Compared to the ninja sushi in mililani, this one gives bigger portions and she do not be rationing with the ahi and sauce. ITS SO GOOD. Super sweet and nice lady, always remembering her regulars. Also the pretty girl working the register is so nice and helpful! The vibes are really friendly and the place itself is welcoming.“
“Great take out place!Just come here when you are near by or just too lazy to cook . LolEverything is good but my fave is ontama beef bowl.M size is plenty with 2 eggs. I couldn't finish all.Bottle water was just $1. That's nice that they are not ripping you off like other restaurants... but I wish they have a pitcher of water for dine in customer.“
“After a medical procedure in Pearl City, we decided to grab lunch at Daiichi Ramen. The food here was really good and the service was great. My mom really enjoyed Shrimp curry. Generous portions- crispy light battered shrimp and curry with nice chunky well cooked veggie pieces. My Mochiko chicken was yummy. Lots of flavor with the spices. My husband had the Pork fried rice with a side order of Chicken Katsu which he liked and we all three shared croquettes and gyoza. The gyoza was full of flavor and very tasty. The croquettes were good- I prefer them more on the crispy side, but it’s a minor thing. Staff was very nice & helpful. Packed my order nicely in a box taped down well for the ride home in the truck and opened the door for me to leave. The Inside was small but clean and parking was decent- gets much busier during lunchtime of course, so come earlier if decide to check it out. Mahalo for reading and have a Beautiful Day! ??“
“Hands down, one of the best dinners I've had in a while! Gyu-Kaku in Mililani truly knows how to impress with their all-you-can-eat deal for $67. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny! First off, let's talk about those garlic noodles. Absolute perfection! The flavors melded together so beautifully, it was like a symphony in my mouth. If you're a garlic lover like me, these noodles are a must-try. Now, onto the stars of the show - the meats. We indulged in the bistro steak and the HARAMI steak, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The bistro steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy with just the right amount of seasoning. But oh, the HARAMI steak stole the show! Tender, flavorful, and simply irresistible. I can understand why it's a favorite among regulars. I'll definitely be coming back for more of that HARAMI goodness! But the experience wouldn't have been complete without mentioning our stellar server, Isabella. She was on top of her game from start to finish, providing top-notch service with a smile. One of the best servers we've encountered at Gyu-Kaku, hands down! Overall, Gyu-Kaku in Mililani exceeded all expectations. Delicious food, excellent service, and a cozy ambiance - what more could you ask for? Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, this place is a must-visit. Can't wait to come back for another round of gastronomic delight!“
“Omg I am so glad my hubby found this spot! The sushi is soooo yummy and FRESH!! I love that they give Romaine with every roll. And don't even get me started on their poke (I'm drooling just thinking about it and I'm so stuffed) it is by the far the BEST poke I've ever had, just melts in your mouth! And the service is very friendly, warm and lots of aloha. They definitely show their love and aloha through every roll!Very quick service! It's such a cute little spot! Very welcoming, comfortable, and intimate.I wish we had time to take pictures but it was just THAT good!Much mahalos and we will definitely be back!“
“One of the best and most original ramen I have ever had! It is not a traditional Japanese ramen restaurant but more an Asian fusion one. The menu offers several options out of the ramen and some original ones such as the mapo tofu ramen. It was an amazing combo of two delicious Asian specialties. It was generous, not too spicy and fulfilling. The service was very fast after we ordered, we did not have to wait long to eat. Must to try if you want to enjoy some unique ramen“
“Excellent noodle restaurant with an incredible bakery. The Ramen meal we had was delicious and plentiful. Full flavored, plenty of good noodles all added to a delightful experience.Service was great, they could not have been more helpful and pleasant.Their bakery items are delicious, the apple turnover tasted like apple not overly sweet, with one of the flakest crusts ever.“
“The best noodles in Honolulu ever. The broth was light but at the same time super delicious. It was not complex and just dreamy. I was craving for more after eating this. Aside from the highlight, the runner up dishes that I tried included the beef stick, small but mighty beef on a stick. The musubi was also very good, perfect size. Overall, service was speedy, humorous, and nice. The waiter we had was just hilarious and welcoming. This place is literally in the middle of nowhere, but this isn't your creepy restaurant, this is a cozy, sanctuary for your noodle cravings . Coming back on my next voyage to Honolulu.“
