“I tried Mtn Magic because I saw that they were rated #1 shave ice on Ohau. I didn't know about it but we would go to the Leonard's truck for malasadas just next door for years. I would rate the shave ice amongst my top 4 with Shimazu, Ululani & Waiola. Although it is a shack and doesn't have a place to sit. The price is similar as well as the amount and the fineness of the ice as the other 3 places. Definitely the best in mid Oahu. We stay near Kapolei so we will definitely be back.“
“Another hidden gem on Oahu. Not your typical ice cream parlor. Limited flavors but they all sound delicious. You won’t be disappointed. server was great and helpful while she described each flavor. It’s close by Costco in a small shopping “
“Super delicious malasadas! Hands down the original and best on island. We used to like their original, plain malasadas a lot but once they came out with the ones with filling, I was definitely head over heels in love with those. My favorite is the custard or lilikoi filling. Even those the fillings are sweet, it somehow seems to almost balance out the sugariness of the pastry! A super yummy and awesome treat. Not too oily either, and their service is as fast as can be for making fresh malasadas!“
“Three reasons why I decided to try this place. First, the place was packed with customers either ordering or picking up their takeout orders. Two, the menu is huge! They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Three, the place looks as if it’s been here for awhile, meaning people come back.Hawaiian style plates. Various meats, rice, and noodles. Decent to good food. Very good price for the amount you get. Good parking. Located in an old neighborhood.“
“Cute little bubble tea cafe hidden in Waipahu. I love to go to Savers and grab myself a bubble drink afterwards. There is a good amount of seating available. There is only one guy working behind the counter, which can cause a lag in service if busy. The tea with cheese foam was yummy and not overly sweet or cheesy when mixed well. A lot of boba cafes have a heavy hand on the sugar, so I LOVE to find a bubble tea where you can taste the TEA.“
“I still love it here. Quality is still amazing and it's so deadly that I work near this area now because all my money goes here. As always, I get my super jumbo wintermelon milk tea. No changes here, no shortcuts, still amazing. I think this is the only place so far that I know of where the boba is still pretty soft and chewy the next day. Ideally I would like to finish my drinks in one day, but if need be, and I guess a good to know for y'all out there if you were wondering. Recently, I tried their version of the Tiger milk tea. I'm not too sure if it was on their menu, but I asked for it and they had it. I like it, not as much as my wintermelon but still good. If you like that immense flavor of brown sugar, you'll love it. A good to know: you can call ahead if you need to. They accept card only if you spend over $10. No seating area due to covid. They have some snacks too if you want a quick and easy bite. I've been going here for years and it's still wonderful. Highly recommend for the quality and will continue to do so.“
“My friend Toti has been at this location for years dishing out authentic Puerto Rican food. He always has a smile. This is pretty much a one-man operation, so if you don't want to wait call in ahead. NO CORNED BEEF IN THE PASTELES or empanadillas- which locals call panadillas! There are a few outside counters, but pretty much the best way to enjoy is take out and eat at home.“
“I was craving boba on my shopping trip so I decided to stop by. The cereal milk tea caught my eye and I knew I had to try it. The boba was sweet and chewy, the milk tea tasted like fruity pebbles, and it was really creamy. The women working were very friendly and my order didn't take long at all! It's just a small food truck, so they were out of some things but overall, really well and the price is average.“
“The food is great and the owners are even better. They have a lemon cream pasta that tastes like it should be served in a swanky fine dining rstaurant. The Kalbee is also really great. Never had a bad lunch from there. Highly recommend. Support Local!!!!“
“This review is loooooong overdue; I truly thought I had already written one being this is hands down my most favorite lunch plate! The kanaka plate has 2 scoops of rice, chicken glass noodles/long rice, lomi salmon, squid luau, kalua pork, and lau lau.Yeah, it's a very full plate! I'm not a big eater... I usually only finish a half burger or sandwich when I order one. So when I get the kanaka plate, it usually lasts me at least 4 enjoyable meals. Everything is absolutely amazing but here's in my personal order of preference. Squid luau ~ ummm food crack?? That may be the best way to describe it. I could seriously have this everyday and be so utterly content. Slightly sweet, slightly salty, creamy and rich. My only complaint is there isn't enough, but that's on me lol. I may have an unhealthy obsession with this dish. Lomi salmon ~ the balance of their lomi salmon is perfect. Generous portion of salmon to a zesty combo of diced fixings. Another dish I'd be content with having everyday. Lau lau and kalua pork ~ these are at a healthy tie with each other. I love enjoying them at the same time. Just doesn't feel complete having one without the other. Deliciously smoky and juicy; just hints of fat so it's not heart attack crazy. My least favorite is the long rice. Not because theirs isn't good. Don't get me wrong, it's gingery, sometimes heavier on the salt, but I still tear it up and empty my entire plate. But growing up on long rice, I guess it was one of those things I didn't reacquire a favor to (yet?). I continue to surprise myself by accepting flavors I thought I had dismissed after getting tired of it growing up. In any case, aside from the occasional heavy salty noodles, I can't get enough of this plate. It's held the spot as my favorite lunch plate for over a decade... others have tried, but this still comes out on top for me!Oh, and while I do enjoy the smoked meat, it's usually hubs' order. And when our daughter visits, she always picks up a plate to take back with her. They're the big meat eaters in our family. It's smoky tasty and generously portioned. This totally makes for a perfect dinner stop for our fam.“
“Located in back of the coach store in the upper waikele outlet stores parking lot, decided to buy food from this truck since I was buying from another truck read the reviews and the farmer's market was dwindling in food tents, but I wasn't too impressed. California beef burrito - 3.5 stars - for $17, it had ground beef, fries and other items. It was pretty big and loaded, and although a little bland, the fries added in gave it a special twist. Enchilada plate - 3.5 stars - for $16 I got 2 enchiladas that were made to order, and not liking a lot of salt, was flavored just right, but the beans were salty. The rice was ok. Service - 4 stars only because the wait is long because there were 4 people before us, and it took more than 15 minutes just to order, then another 15 minutes for the food to be ready for pick-up. The food truck cashier/server was very friendly, talkative and nice. Lots of parking since it is located at the waikele premium outlets upper parking area.“
“We found this place on our way to the north shore via costco (for food pickup, totally worth it since u get a fair bit of Hawaiian local stuff there)Had the heart attack loco loco and shared it with my partner. was delicious, the beef brisket was smoky and a tad bit better than the pork belly. the combination was excellent and just enough gravy to make it a potent combo. We also got caramelized onions with it, worth it, should have also added the sautéed mushrooms (bot are an additional $, but worth the add). It's a small hole in the wall, but so so worth it. Just had a plate from ted's, and this was 10x better if not more“
