“Super ice cream treats and a cut above your usual seasonal dairy stop! Soft serve and hard packed scoops with real flavor creativity (black raspberry pomegranate sorbet was on offer today). We only ate outside, but the restaurant looked cute!“
“We tried it after seeing mixed reviews online about service and quality of food. The food was actually better than expected. I got the Truffle Mac and Cheese pizza and it was a hit and filling. Everything turned out as we hoped and the service for takeout was very kind. Seems like the bar has plenty of space and activities to keep yourself busy. Would recommend and be back when we are in the area.“
“Joseph's is all about the experience. Each table is made private by sheer curtains that make the meal much more private than a typical restaurant. The servers are knowledgeable and happy to recommend a special or guide your food selection. Though the meals are a touch on the pricy side, this restaurant seems to be mostly reserved for a special occasion. Food options are typical for a high end steakhouse and many steaks follow a market price rather than described price. The French onion soup was some of the best I've had with a great ratio of broth to onion to cheese. It was a bit salty but certainly warmed up a cold march night. Originally I ordered the ribeye filet but was given a full ribeye at no additional charge. The steak was cooked to perfection and was delicious. With dessert options so board, everyone at the table will want to share a bite. The bread pudding was warm and flavorful. It came with a side of vanilla ice cream which helped to add moisture to the affair. Over all, great experience and I will definitely be back soon“
“I had the fruit salad and brisket sandwich. Both were delicious! The fruit was ripe and fresh cut. We also shared a piece of the chocolate cake between three of us and still had leftovers! It was a super generous helping and very decadent. The atmosphere is quaint and fun, with beautiful light fixtures. The gals serving us were friendly and helpful great job and thank you!Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp entrance in the back. I recommend bringing help or calling ahead, as you'll need to maneuver the gift shop area. Totally doable with care, just be aware.“
“First time trying Orchard Green and the food was delicious! They have a nice ambience upstairs as others have mentioned. We were a party of 4 and ordered the focaccia, walleye fish, halibut, roasted bison and the filet. I was debating between the scallops and bison and decided on the bison which was so good! It was a lot of food and I was so stuffed. The server we had was good. He was an older gentleman and he was attentive. It can get busy here but you can also make a reservation online. There is free valet parking where you drive to the back entrance and park right in front of the door and someone will come out. Apparently, they park your car where they can find a spot as well. We ended up doing street parking so you have to pay for meter unless you find free parking a few blocks away. Free parking in downtown Iowa City is harder to come by these days for those folks who are used to free parking in the outskirts of Iowa City.“
“Chloe provided good service. The food was excellent with generous portions provided. I ate a Cobb Salad with honey mustard dressing. Also pictured is a black bean burger. Others in our party ordered 7 Layer Dip and the burger basket (Monday's special). We were back to our car in 1 hour, all the time we were allowed to pay for at the parking meter.Parking: Current construction on Dubuque Street (see photo for descriprion) further complicates parking near Mickey's through Sunner 2024.Wheelchair accessibility: There are two stairs in the front entrance to Mickey's.“
“When I was pregnant with our first child in 1967, I would wake my husband James up in the middle of the night. He was a grad student at Iowa at the time. He would walk all the way from our house at 16 W. Bloomington to the Mill Restaurant to buy me one of their delicious grilled egg sandwiches. I know there was quite an array of them. That's when I knew I had married a true gem. He passed the "Mill Test." Walking to get an order at 2 in the morning. "A" for James and "A" for The Mill!“
“This place has been a staple in the iowa city area as long as I can remember. It's the kind of bar where, if you're local you'll know someone there. Juke box, pool, arcade games. The staff is always friendly and fast. Always a good time!Kid-friendliness: Tables and a kids menu“
“Was taken out to dinner to celebrate graduating graduate school, so I don't know how much the bill was, but I absolutely loved the Rib Eye steak. They did it rare just the way I like it on the first try. Bison meatball app was killer, totally a vibe. Also, both their Manhattan and Old Fashioned were well made drinks that paired well with the rustic food. I chose Mac and cheese for my side and liked it, but ended up taking most of it home in a box. Other guest with me ordered salmon and said it was perfectly cooked so I included pictures as well.Definitely recommend for a date or a celebration of some kind, even if you're going alone I imagine the vibe could work well.“
“We stopped here for lunch on a very busy Saturday. We were told it'd be about 30 minutes before we got seated, and we agreed to wait. I'm so glad we did, because it was absolutely worth it in the end! We were seated at the bar, which we didn't mind, as the seats were comfy. Our food came quickly, tasted delicious, and we had the most wonderful server, who made our visit there even better, with her friendly positive attitude. As for parking, we found a spot on the nearby street (with a parking meter, so bring some quarters). We'll definitely be back!“
“This place is a staple for me. Huge tap selection and great menu selection. Great place for a group that can't decide on a specific restaurant. Good for meal or just drinks. They have a decent amount of tvs too in case you need to watch the game.“
“Really nice food, pizza is amazing.Just wanted to make a note that when I ordered from Door Dash the food was tampered with and one of the pieces of pizza was removed from the box before I received it.I doubt it left the restaurant this way.Door Dash is not much help.Drivers name is Simon.“
“I had the regular burger served on a brioche bun, homemade pickles and a special sauce. It was delicious. The French fries are the best I've had, with a crisp seasoned coating, I'm not a fry person, but loved these. Great atmosphere.“
“Food is delicious but be prepared for a long wait. This is of no fault of the workers because Nodo is so popular that they can't keep up with the orders. It does make me wonder whether they would benefit from more cooks/cashiers so it doesn't take around half an hour for a sandwich and fries, though. I would still highly recommend! It's worth the wait if you have time.“
“Ben & Maddie took care of us. Our party had a flight of espresso martinis and each one got better. I recommend the Caramel Espresso Martini, it’s the best i’ve had so far.I think i can feel my heart fluttering and that might be strictly from their personality and hospitality.it’s the granite counter tops.“
“Almost 30 craft beers on tap! Food was great, and it was a lot of food! Service was amazing! A really helpful server. The place was clean and fun too. Only bummer was they ran out of my beer and instead of a 10oz pour I got 5oz. But it was sooooo amazing. The highlight of my drinking day a boozy imperial stout“
“The food, service, and ambiance is absolutely what makes Webster a standout in Iowa city for impressing family/friends who are visiting. They have also done some personal stuff for our birthday events as well and you can truly tell the staff are passionate about the food there and know their stuff. If there’s one place that I would recommend as a staple; this is it. My recommended dish is always the tartare, chicken, and the potato salad“
“Ordered the Jumbo Breaded Tenderloin today. It came with Fries and Onion rings. Was a VERY GOOD tenderloin. Had very good breading on it and the Onion Rings were AWESOME!! I'D HIGHLY RECCOMEND EATING HERE!! Waitress was very courteous, and seen to our needs as a customer. I do believe this will be my new eating palce in Iowa City. AWESOME JOB MIDTOWN FAMILY RESTAURANT!!“
“Our family group picked this place for lunch after the little ones had some fun at the Children's museum. From the moment we walked in the door, all of the staff was cheery and friendly. They have a great outdoor area, but it was a little windy, so we ate inside. The menu selection was great from you normal 'brew pub' food. Our order ran from beet salad, lamb meatballs, chicken bacon rolls, to a Poke bowl. The littlest one wanted apple sauce (which we didn't see on the menu) and they were happy to accommodate. The atmosphere inside and out was great as was all of the food. Definitely a place to try if you want to sit outside and enjoy the weather or inside of the weather conditions aren't great. Go check it out!“
“Got 1 dozen chocolate and birthday cake and 1 dozen of gluten free red velvet and got compliments on all! Wouldn’t even be able to tell that the gluten free were gluten free. Will definitely be coming back for more in the future! Also, great customer service to top it all off!!“
“Just got a coffee at the drive up window, was pleasantly surprised by the adult server, greeted me with a smile had my order out quickly with a nice pleasant little chat.Radically different than the slack-jawed teenage lobotomies that work at DD across the street!Keep up the good work guys!“
“To my suprise, it was quite good. I had their BLT, and their bacon was very high quality and crispy, I enjoyed their aoili on it as well. Fries were super crispy, salty and hot- the perfect combo. Only 4 stars because their hot cocoa was pretty sub par- it looked pretty but it was just hot milk with hersheys syrup, just not for me. Would visit again!Kid-friendliness: Many seating options and great coloring supplies for kiddos!“
“Had a NY Strip steak with broccoli and cheese mashed potatoes. The steak was pretty mediocre, tough and not seasoned at all even at medium rare, which it was cooked well. Not a great cut of a steak it seems, disappointing considering the $32 asking price. Veggie and potatoes were all great, broccoli was perfectly cooked but the potatoes were the star.Staff is great, friendly, receptive and made you feel welcomed. Overall enjoy the look and feel of the place.“
“The chicken lip extravaganza is awesome and usually turns into a meal plus a snack for later. The sauce on the chicken lips hits every time, the mac and cheese and dim sum green beans are excellent. Staff is always friendly and fast every time I go in. You can see right into the kitchen which looks super clean. They also have a free rewards program which means every 3 or 4 times I get takeout it's about half-price on my meal. I haven't explored their menu much, but everything I've had has been high quality.“
“I've been to Hudson's many times as it's on the way home but it not been here and probably almost a year. It was Friday afternoon but the place seemed more lively and upbeat. The menu is fairly expansive with quite a few options, some of them outside the normal fare. The prices had gone up a bit but the food was really quite good, I had the meatloaf sandwich and my wife had a salad that was much better than a far more expensive place a few nights earlier. The beer prices seem quite high to me, but I haven't been out drinking in quite a while. they do have an outdoor patio in the summer that borders a fairly quiet street, it is a great place to grab an afternoon sandwich. They have a huge diverse burger selection, as well as a good Reuben and Breaded PorkTenderloin, alll served with pretty good portions of Good fries!Several steps above fast food for a couple bucks more, definitely worth it“
“What a lovely little place to visit in town! I dropped in for the first time and was very impressed by both the service and atmosphere. And the food! Holy heck, it was delicious!I had the Cubano, which was one of the best sandwiches I've had in years. My husband enjoyed the meatball sub and fries and loved them both. I also got a chimichanga special to enjoy the next day, and it didn't disappoint.Definitely recommend stopping by. I'm so glad to have such a delicious place in town!“
“It's been a few years since I ate at 126 and decided it was time for a visit. I carefully checked the menus listed on their website and was excited to try the lamb osso bucco listed on their website at $26. When we sat down and I looked at the menu, I thought that there was a typo when the price listed for the lamb was $62!!! The food was delicious and, thanks to a generous friend who helped me celebrate my birthday, I had the lamb and it was amazing. Please update your on line menus so that people don't get sticker shock when they sit down.“
“The bartender Sam Donath provided me with one of the best experiences I have ever had at a bar in my entire life. He provided great conversation kept the drinks flowing and had a very positive and outgoing attitude altogether this was a great experience I highly recommend.“
“I flew in from Alabama for my boyfriend's fraternity formal and this is where we all had dinner. I had a great experience here and could not have picked a better place for the event! The food was fantastic and all of the servers did such a great job the whole night by providing our group with excellent service. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great and was located right by the river so we could take some nice pictures there. I would highly recommend Tin Roost to anyone for an event or even just for dinner. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town!“
“I would say the Union Jack is my favorite pizza in Iowa City. After saying this I like the hybrid not quite deep dish style. Their thin crust is good but doesn't compete with Pagliai's. Other than that good service and good atmosphere for a pizza place.“
“Been a few times now and had a nice time. Food and drinks were good. I do think the host forgot about us on the waitlist but first visit was on a holiday and these things happen, a waitress did collect my partner and i and got us service fast for our wait. Finally visited the downstairs but last night and was impressed with atmosphere and service :) you have good staff!“
“I was with a large party tonight. Reservations had been made, and we were granted our request to sit near a big screen tv. Love our Iowa Women's basketball! My meal was $16 and larger than I'd imagined (grilled pork loin sandwich). Hot, crisp fries. The pork was tender and not greasy. Fresh lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes.I can't have alcohol and ordered a virgin drink. The server suggested half piña colada, half strawberry daiquiri. I ordered 2 and should have asked if they would still charge $12 each. They did. Lesson learned. While at Tavern Blue, the owner came out and visited with us. He took a photo of our table ( with our permission, of course) in honor of it being International Women's Day. A very nice guy! What else? The women's restroom was very clean and well-stocked. I highly recommend Tavern Blue!Kid-friendliness: There is miniture golf, a giant Connect Four game, a jetski for kids to pose and play on... check out the photos!Wheelchair accessibility: Very spacious seating that allows for many different configurations of tables and chairs. The owner and servers were very friendly and I'm sure that would make accommodations.“
“Our drinks were crafted by a gentleman named Richard. He made a great old fashion. The late night menu was nice to see, however, the kitchen did subpar on delivery. We orderedrd the chip and dip trio type of thing and it looked like we got the end of the chip bag.“
“Great place for a rest from cruising the river. Nice playground for the kids, good hamburgers and salads to meet everyone's tastes. Very friendly staff and quick service. The burgers had just the right toppings.Kid-friendliness: Playground and sand toys entertained the kids while we rested.Parking: Free parking for boats with ample boat slips.“
“The food was amazing and the service was spectacular. This is a must stop if you are in the area. The owner/cook came out and was very friendly. We enjoyed our conversation and he made sure the food was to our liking. In addition the server was very helpful in making great choices for our burgers and the ice cream sandwich is a must have… save room!!“
“Love this place for a hotel-bar kinda spot this place has some of the best food in town. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good dining experience. Reasonable prices, great food and knowledgeable staff make for a great spot out of the college student main stream.“
“I definitely miss some of the old menu items, but thats maybe the worst thing i could say because the food Blue Bird has is really good currently. Love staff, they seem to handle the lots of people there so well every time, if they are stressed you'd never know. Love them! <3Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options! Yay!“
“Love the atmosphere. Server Joe was great. The Monte Cristo....probably wouldn't order that again. Maybe I didn't read the description fully. I wasn't expecting a deep fried 'sandwich.' Fries were good. My daughter ordered salmon, which came with 2 sides. She said it was good. Croissants were great.I would go back again.“
“Our food was delicious. Having a son who worked in a Texas Roadhouse helped me in choosing the right meat selection. Our greeter was courteous, and our waiter checked on us often. We come here on special occasions and it's always a special experience for us.“
“Ordered Ribeye and loaded potato.Cooked to my preference, loaded potato was really good, almost ordered one to go. Steak was very delicious, hardly ever do I clean my plate but it all tasted really good. Service was really good. Drinks kept full and had an awesome waitress. Defiantly above and beyond service!Parking: No fault of the restaurant but seemed a little winding finding the way into the lot. Went a round the hotel next door. Defiantly a city planning problem but is typical with modern developments.“
“The atmosphere is the exact 80s diner esthetic that they're going for. The employees were all super friendly though the kitchen looked like they were playing on their phones. The food itself wasn't anything special though, just typical fast food esq burgers and fries, though they did at least have a good burger variety. I'd just argue their meals aren't really worth the cost when I could go somewhere cheaper and get something similar just without the same atmosphere.“
“Lobster was good,I havent had lobster in so long i forgot how to eat it lol haha. The food was good tho the lobster and steak , it was a good place as well to go and get away from the struggles of the day.Thank you for your time. And a shout out to Pat for taking me there?Kid-friendliness: They got crayonsWheelchair accessibility: People in wheeelchairs can get in“
“My girlfriend and I love this place. Hole in the wall dive bar with darts and a pool table and decent beer selection. It's becoming a little more known to the college crowd but other than that it's always a good time. Bartenders are the best and that's what keeps us coming back every week. The two regular bartenders are our favorites in Iowa city. As long as you're respectful they treat their patrons well“
“This has become my favorite place to go when I'm in town. The menu is varied (good for a group), and everything is tasty. I especially love the Cajun selections, like jambalaya and Gumbo. The beer selections and flights are perfect. And I've always had warm, attentive service while here.“
“Getting older...just 2 of us....bake or use a skillet to cook a Naomi's tasty entree in about 30 min., make a salad, and dinner is served. The light meals for two are just right for us. Good variety, and did I say tasty? Convenient and cheaper than restaurants.“
“This is great food. You'd expect less from a grocery store grille but they're always made well and tasty options. And the weekend breakfast special made it affordable!Kid-friendliness: Definitely a good environment for taking kids out to eat. Doesn't feel like a stuffy restaurant.Parking: Typical, large grocery store parking lot.“
“We recently enjoyed dinner with friends at Vesta. Our wives chose to have the Mahi mahi which was fantastic. My friend had the pork tenderloin sandwich and was quite impressed. I elected to have a pizza from their brick oven. We were served by Jake, not from State Farm, and he was very knowledgeable of all of the dishes he handled our questions with ease. I enjoyed the Meat-za pizza, it was enough food for two people and I ended up takes half the pizza home. The crust was a thin light crispy crust much like naan. The pizza was sauced lightly with fresh tomatoes, onions and other herbs and spices. The meats were fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend the pizza. We are going to visit again in the near future to try more of their dishes, I want the beef tenderloin. Our only negative experience was the crème brûlée. My wife and I often chose to eat at restaurants that have cb, we are kind of cb snobs. I took one bite of my cb and couldn’t eat any more of it. It was bland at best with very little vanilla flavor and tasted like they forgot the sugar in the recipe. The girls took a bite of theirs and they too turned theirs back. Jake came by, we told him what we thought, he went directly to the kitchen to try it himself. He came back and verified our complaint saying that he thought the chef forgot the sugar when making it. Jake to the ramekins away and removed them from our bill. All in all a great experience less the crème brûlée mishap. We will definitely be back to try a new dish as well as the CB again.“
“Very unique, creative and very delicious food! When we were there, we tried the west coast wrap and it was full of greens and grilled chicken, goat cheese and pistachios.Fresh food, made to order. One goes up to the register to order and then you wait while they fix your food and then you take it and go sit down. They are multi-level, it's narrow and not excessively deep, but there is quite of bit of seating for two people or four people and even if you're just by yourself. There are larger tables up stairs, (they have two floors) The restrooms are on the second floor, as well. Stairs are used to access the second level. They also have very tasty drinks. We had the blueberry lemonade.Vegetarian options: I do believe that you could get any wrap adjusted to your dietary needs. One could turn a wrap vegetarian. One could add cheese or leave off cheese. I think that they would accommodate that.Kid-friendliness: I would say it was kid friendly. There is a big front window and it seems like a very fun place that children would like to be.Parking: Street parking at metered spots, or one could park in the car park(ramps) and walk.“
“We recently had an important family event at the Iowa Athletic Club. The management and staff went above and beyond to help us celebrate something very special. We truly appreciate the kind and courteous service we received and look forward to returning.“
“We were so impressed! There were 20-22 of us with a reservation. Two waitresses (Ashley and McKensy - I sure hope I got close on their names) were SO efficient, quick, and friendly. We got our food in a very short time, so the kitchen was efficient also. The food was delicious, the variety excellent, and the onion rings are worth the drive all by themselves. Very pleased and we will add this to our regular places!“
