“Tried this restaurant for the first time, Nate was our server & he was the best! He answered our questions on menu items & was very attentive. The mushroom squash pizza was amazing & the side salad that comes with it was a nice added freshness! We will definitely be back again to try more menu items!“

With a 7 mo old, two dogs and both of us working, we decided it was time to start outsourcing some things! We are 3 meals in and are SOLD! The meals are delicious, easy to heat and the staff is so kind. I can NOT recommend this service enough.“

“Thank you so much for being open on Thanksgiving and taking online orders! Iowa City businesses were all closed but thanks to this establishment, we were able to get two hot steak dinners for an affordable price and they were good. The temp requested for the steak was med-rare and they nailed it. I do wish they had called about being out of green beans before substituting corn since one of us does not eat corn, but this is Iowa. Iowa loves corn.

The good experience with our delivery has made us interested in visiting in person. Even though the food took longer to deliver due to our original dasher canceling, it was still warm too! Everything was packaged really well, portioned well, and they even sent wet naps.

“As an Uber Eats driver I can recall plenty of times that i have been met with unhappy and unhelpful employees, understandably, but Kaylee was quite the opposite. I came in today super stressed due to money issues and i was immediately met with a positive and cheerful smile which boosted my spirits in spite of the dreadful day ive had. She even gave me a water as well as an accurate time estimate of how long the food was going to take to make. To be honest, i wouldve never considered coming here if not for her attitude and spirit but now I am!

“I'm gluten intolerant so I ordered the tomato bisque rather than the chips with my sandwich. The waiter heard me tell my friend why I was ordering the soup and checked to make sure I would be able to eat both the sandwich and the soup. He went above and beyond to cater to my needs. Our lunch was good and his entire demeanor and attitude were very pleasant. Worth stopping here since we were only in town for a doctor's visit at the hospital.“

“My wife and I went to the Black Angel for a late lunch about 4 pm today. We split a beef brisket sandwich with each us having a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. The soup was lukewarm and had to be reheated which was promptly and courteously done, as was all service rendered. This was our only complaint. Everything was excellent. Best Chicken Tortilla soup (not too spicy) ever had, The sandwich was great too. Yum!“

Always great food, Always a friendly smile, the food & service is what ppl go to restaurants for and GREAT food & GREAT service is definitely what you will receive here! The managers make sure the atmosphere is welcoming along with all the staff. Great place for all sizes of parties whether its 1 ppl to a latge group, they are always willing to accommodate and make it happen. This new restaurant has been booming & Im sure its ranked at #1 in the area so far! Soo happy my daughter has found her calling to serve as she continues her nursing studies! The fish was a large portion and baked to perfection. Our waitress was friendly and took good care of us. All employees were friendly. The place appeared clean and there is ample parking. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu offers a nice variety of American dishes, and everything our table ordered was cooked perfectly.

It’s a great place but I was disappointed-I ordered the fish and chips since it was one of their specials, the French fries were COLD and the fish was a bit greasy, not a fan of the coleslaw in this case. Great Iowa City location just across from Kinnick Stadium in University Heights – the atmosphere is fantastic, the food is always fresh and top-notch, and the staff is outstanding. A consistently delightful experience, whether dining indoors or on the patio.“

“I am a celiac and was pleasantly surprised that they have a whole gluten-free menu with lots of options! One of the servers said that she is a celiac, too. That was cool.
The only thing that made me nervous was the wooden cutting boards they served my gluten free food on. Not sure how they clean them, or if they keep them separate from gluten serving boards, but I know we should mistrust all wooden utensils due to their absorbency. These had obvious cut marks on them and everything.
Happily though, I didn't feel and signs of being glutened. With major gluten ingestions I definitely feel symptoms, and I had none to report here. Hopefully that bodes well.

Dietary restrictions: Celiacs may want to be wary but I think that, pending confirmation about their serving boards, this should be safe. I did not experience symptoms of having gotten glutened, at least. The food was delicious.“
