“I play for pool league out of this location, so I have to be here, but the tater tots are really what keeps me coming back! They are the best around, if you ask for them extra crispy they are very accommodating and do it with no issue! I’ve slowly started to explore the menu because you can never miss with the tots! If you’re a potato enthusiast, I highly recommend checking this place out! You’ll want to eat every last one and maybe ask for more!“

Our Kudos to the chef. We had two appetizers, the crab cake and the grilled octopus; then tried the rack of lamb as well as the seafood risotto for the entree. Then, our dessert was scrumptious...a combination of flavors we admittedly have never experienced. We will definitely return, again.“

Sports oriented. Did not check out the menu. We just ordered a beverage. Wait staff was kind, cheerful, and attentive. They have a nice patio as well. A great place to relax as you wait for a train or a great place to unwind after a day downtown and long train ride.“

“The staff have been really rude to me ever since I pointed out that my tab was wrong and I was overcharged. I wasn't upset about the double charges, I just wanted them corrected. I've barely been waited on since then it seems. I tried to step in a help once when a patron had been over served. It wasn't welcomed at all. I was given the same look as I get when I walk up to the bar to get a drink. Too bad, it's really close to home to me. I haven't been in over a year and have no plans on returning.“

“We went here for a Friday night fish fry. We did carry out but they are open to the public. Fried cod, baked potato and coleslaw. Myhusband liked the fish alot but said it needed a little lemon or something to spice it up. I had fried shrimp which were very large with a baked potato and coleslaw. The coleslaw was not that great, but we enjoyed the rest of the meal alot. I would recommend this place for a good inexpensive fish fry.“

“Poor service and horrible beer. I ordered a brew dog hazy IPA and the waitress brought me some kind of red ale which is clearly not a hazy IPA. See attachment for what the beer should look like and what they brought me. Waitress does nothing to remediate the situation. Never seen such a poorly run business. Staff have bad attitudes and beer was definitely not right. Maybe it was spoiled or they substituted a cheaper product. Do not go here.“

Hearing the change to a breakfast place made me laugh. How unoriginal can you get? Those are a dime a dozen and none truly last long in the restaurant world. Why, it’s hard to get original with breakfast offerings. The biggest piece for success is the people. They are the main reason we would go to there.

“Not only have I loved Hawthornes from when I was a kid growing up in West Chicago! It was the PERFECT place to have my wedding. Lou, Heidi and Kelly did fantastic and helped make my dream come alive! Every question I had they answered and were able to accommodate so much! Heidi was in CONSTANT communication with me and was able to give advice and help me through the whole process. Her suggestions were so helpful and she helped during the ceremony and reception. I could not have done it without them. This place treats you like family and has amazing service! When my husband and I went to pick up our things the next morning we were planning on taking 2 trips and Lou let us borrow his truck that is how amazing and friendly they are! WE LOVE YOU HAWTHORNES! Thanks for making our wedding the best day of our lives(: not to mention EVERY guest couldn’t stop talking about how fun the venue was and there was something for everyone to do, wiffleball, volleyball, giant beer pong, bags, dancing, and more! Bingo is Wednesday night and a lot of fun, plus the wings are half off that day. Burgers are excellent. Jackie is fun and is always lively. Good people there too. “Was passing through West Chicago yesterday from out of the city and stopped in for the first time. The minute I walked in the door, a very warm, positive vibe hit me. I'm a Veteran so when I saw the Marine Corp memorabilia, I knew I was in the right place. The service from behind the bar was outstanding! All class and personality. The food was fantastic! Burger was fresh, flavorful, aromatic and well-crafted. Ball game on the screens with the sound up (ya don't get that at other pubs, they keep it muted). The place was cozy, comfy, warm and smelled like Heaven.......I will definitely be back!! I'm also gonna tell all my friends about it here on the North side. lol (3 thumbs up......oh wait, where's my third thumb?? 😁👍👍👍)“
