“Nicky’s Hot Dog is a must-visit spot if you’re in the Hotel Central area for a business trip. I arrived around 11:00 am, and while foot traffic was light, parking was still scarce, possibly due to sharing with a neighboring business. The place is tiny and old, with no updates to the exterior or interior, but that’s not why you’re there. I skipped the namesake hot dog and went straight for the Italian beef sandwich.
They used to be cash-only, but now they accept major cards, which was a relief since I don’t carry cash. The workers are packed into the minuscule kitchen like sardines, but ordering is straightforward. Just tell the guy at the counter what you want, and he writes it down on paper. A couple of minutes later, your order is ready.
There’s nothing fancy about Nicky’s, so if that’s what you’re after, head to a major chain. I ordered a beef sandwich with fries and an RC Cola for around $14. The sandwich came wrapped in foil and paper, with the bottom half soaked in beef juice. The beef was perfect, the bread was soft, and the hot peppers were just right. The sandwich was delicious and paired perfectly with the golden fries and cola. I’m so glad these places still exist, and I have much respect for the workers who move at warp speed to handle the orders, especially as it got jam-packed as soon as I left.“

“I would have to agree with the positive reviews that this Italian beef is the real deal. Someone said this was salty but I’m pretty sure she just made up stuff. The bread was not stale, it was fresh. They gave me a lot of sweet peppers and meat. I had it dipped. The meat was juicy and tender. I could have eaten two of these but I wasn’t sure how big it was. I also got a chili cheese dog. It was good but not as memorable as the beef. I would have to come back and try the cheesy Italian beef and Italian sausage. They have one single person restroom and a good amount of seats. I came at night so most of the orders were takeout. The staff was friendly.“

“When I'm in Chicago I always have to have an Italian beef. This time I wanted something that wasn't a big chain and I stumbled on Bob O's. Man this place was awesome. The Italian beef was tremendous as well as the meatball sub and char dog. Even the fries were great. The portions for the price were tremendous. Absolutely killer place!!!“

“I stopped by J's Corner for lunch break, ordered a polish with everything, comes with free fries. THE best polish I've had in a long time. Been trying other restaurants, but nothing compares to this. 5/5 in my book, classic menu selection with good prices, will try the bulgogi that everyone raves about next time“

“Stopped by for a quick lunch after grocery shopping. My friend ordered the Saturday special—the Super Burger, a massive ½‑lb burger served with fries. I wasn’t as hungry, so I went with the patty melt instead.
The Super Burger lived up to its name and was topped with grilled onions and mozzarella cheese. My patty melt was spot on: crispy bread and a perfect burger‑to‑grilled‑onions ratio. I also grabbed a large fountain drink, and refills were $1.
The interior has been recently updated, and they’re clearly making good use of the space, including a half‑booth facing the window. The booths were comfortable, making it an easy place to sit and enjoy lunch.“

“Went for a late weekday lunch. Just ordered the Chicago dog, fries and soda. Hit the spot! More of a takeaway place for locals. No real parking, only paid street parking. A small counter to stand and eat if you'd like (I did). Nice owner.“

“Don't let the overall look of this place fool you It might seem like an out of place small almost empty restaurant right next to the sidewalk, But the food is delicious, Very friendly staff of 2 at the moment. It was my First time going I had a hot dog meal with fries and a drink Hot dog was delicious. Fries surprised me VERY delicious home made fries, food was good The price was great. Service was very fast in and out within about a minute well worth a stop, I am looking forward to trying out some of their other menu items 🤤 my one and only complaint if I had one is that there is no porking available for them at the moment 😭“

“So I was googling where can I get a good pizza puff near bensenville and this place came up. I seen they had fresh cut fries and there's nothing like a good fresh cut fry so I figured I'd give them a shot! Man I was not disappointed at all, I ordered 2 hot dogs and fries and I gotta say the but dogs are better than portillo's and the fries are off the charts! It cost me about 12.00 for 2 hot dogs and 2 fries the price is as good as the food! My first time here and will definitely not be my last. I don't know how I've missed this place I'm looking forward to trying other things here!“

Their gyros are especially impressive - big in size, juicy, and full of flavor 😋🥙 The shoestring fries are always perfectly crispy and fresh, just the way we like them 🍟🔥 It’s hard to stop eating them once you start!

“Gpay didn't work and I had no physical card. After trying the Gpay several times, I gave up. The manager asked for the drink I was drinking back, lol. I got in the car, saw my wallet in the seat and decided not to go back in. I drove out of my way to try this food, but this experience with being asked for the drink back was shocking. #theapartmentlady“

“Passing through ORD, of course I'm going to get a Chicago dog. But even the best laid plans get sidetracked!
There are terminals you can order from, and while I was putting in my order, a staffer suggested their Maxwell Street hot dog (prepped by the amazing Oumar) - their only grilled offering! - and I couldn't resist. She was friendly and I went along with it.
Worth a visit if you're craving a hot dog and have a layover.

The chicago hotdogs have changed though, they no longer steam a poppy seed bun... tastes like something my mom would make with ingredients from Jewel, or you'd find in a high school cafeteria.
