“My Fiancé and I discovered this restaurant after watching “Somebody Feed Fill” and were inspired and intrigued by Sarah’s restaurant and craftsmanship. We had our eye on getting reservations here for a very long time and we ended up landing lunch reservations for my Fiancés birthday (whom is also a Chef). We just happened to be seated by the expo line near the kitchen where we saw Sarah working. From start to finish our server Rose, and Sarah made sure our experience was personalized special. Sarah even signed the cookbook we bought and menu! Everything was on point from the food to the service. I can see why it’s so hard to get a reservation here! If we could rate our experience higher we would. We greatly appreciate the hospitality and dedication that this restaurant displays!“

“Truly an amazing experience. First off, extremely accommodating. My friends flight was delayed and I got stuck in pretty bizarre Chicago traffic and they accommodated us with our table still 2 hours after our original reservation. The bartender (I wish I got her name) was such a genuine good vibe, she had me laughing the moment I walked in. Alfredo was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing and full of personality. I hope when we come back, we have him. The valet man was an absolute gem too. Asked if I could leave my car there for a couple hours and instead, he moved it into a legal parking spot for me. This was seriously an above and beyond experience and we will definitely be back in the future!“

“We tried Gaia for the first time on Mother’s Day and were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the entire experience was. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The service was fantastic; the staff was attentive, never letting our drinks go empty, and every course was timed perfectly.

The food was incredible, and every bite was delicious. The bruschetta was perfectly prepared, the Alfredo sauce was rich, creamy, and cheesy, and the chocolate fudge cake drizzled with strawberry sauce was absolutely to die for.

Since opening in 1927, this beloved spot has carried the spirit of old-world Italy straight into the heartbeat of the city. I started the evening with a humble house Chianti, deep and ruby and exactly what a classic Italian dinner calls for. Dustin ordered their famous martini—he thought it was just okay—but the night still felt beautifully cinematic, like we’d stepped into a vintage film. They brought out the table bread with olive oil, simple and familiar, setting the stage without trying to steal the spotlight. I opened with a bowl of minestrone, and wow—every sip was perfection. The broth was rich and comforting, the vegetables tender and full of flavor. Meanwhile, Dustin had a starter salad—straightforward, nothing extravagant, but fresh and crisp. Then came the moment I’m still thinking about: Their handmade gnocchi covered in a spicy arrabbiata sauce. The sauce had that perfect, subtle kick—just enough heat to make every bite feel alive. Paired with my Chianti, the two brightened each other in the most dreamy, effortless way. Truly unforgettable. Dustin ordered the chicken parm, which he said was very, very good, and the meatballs that looked absolutely divine—but he was too full to try them (a sign of a solid entrée, if you ask me). We ended with a cannoli, breaking through the crisp shell with a spoon and savoring the sweet ricotta kissed with lemon zest. It was the kind of dessert you slow down for. Service was pleasant—our server was kind and steady. The hostess, though, felt a bit overwhelmed and came off a little rude. Understandable on a busy night, but still surprising for a place with nearly a century of history and such a loyal following.
