“I have gone to Andros Taverna for many years now where I am never disappointed and always impressed with the service, the quality of food and ingredients, the atmosphere and the passion in general. Chef Doug Psaltis is a true expert and artist performing at the highest levels. The gyros are the best, best gyros in Chicago by far, the seafood world class, the homemade bread and pita are incredible. The foods and meats are cooked over wood fire, wood fire grilled. We had our daughters baptism catered from here which was excellent assortment of Greek food - this is a Greek restaurant you will go to for many years to come.“

He was prompt with our service, so no complaints with that. I think I prefer the Chicago location over the Lombard, but the food is the same both places.

We also enjoyed the youvertsi, wood oven octopus, village salad, all the different spreads and of course desserts! You also must order a fish- I believe we had the lavraki but I don't think you can go wrong with any fish because they're all shipped in daily so it tastes very fresh.“

“Taverna 1821 provided an atmosphere truly comparable to being in Greece. It’s a beautifully decorated space with kind staff and great cooking to fill it. The drinks were unique and every dish had a wonderful twist to it, offering a distinctive meal! “Always enjoy coming here for the great food & service! This time though, my one and only qualm, is about the lamb chops. The dish is only supposed to come with two (2) chops but when we received our order, we were given three (3) chops and told that since the first two were a bit underweight, the chef just added a third chop to our plate. Sounds nice, right? Not really. Because we got charged for the third chop even though we never asked for it! It's only $8 for that additional chop but please don't make it sound like you're doing us a favor when in reality, you did it to upcharge us and pad the 20% gratuity that's already included in the check. I'll be coming back because the food is just that good, but I'll be sure to only state that we only want 2 chops next time.“

“I just had the best gyro of my life at Gyro Guys! From the first bite, I knew I was in for something special. The gyro was completely full of meat and the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. This gyro was a real nuke it was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The pita was soft and fresh, and the tzatziki sauce was creamy and tangy, complementing the gyro perfectly. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who is known as Chef Zuzu, he told me they recently opened up and seems like a great, honest, and hardworking business owner. “BEST GREEK SALADS ! I always order from here and I’m never disappointed! I’ve never had a better Greek salad than Mr. Zee’s. Their Greek salad dressing ….. I mean I wish I had a gallon of it at home so I can put it on everything. I think they should start selling it or maybe give me the recipe ?? All our holiday needs were easily available for us. Unfortunately, we moved out to Poplar Grove, Illinois near Belvedere and have missed them greatly. “did you know salonica is open at 7 AM? i found out today, and im so happy to share it. when you get here early enough, there are window seats galore (and so we snagged one), from which you can watch all of the finance bros walk to the metra and professors going in the opposite direction, from the station to campus. kids and parents too, biking on the way to daycare.. it’s an endless flow of morning traffic. we each ordered a side of hasbrowns (only vegan option.. sorry y’all) and they were FANTASTIC. with all the works, seasoned into oblivion (there was literally every condiment you can imagine on the table). with some freshly squeezed OJ? you already know… something about being up so early and eating such a simple but happy meal reminds me of being a kid. i think i valued time more, but in a different way—not in the adult way, full of order and ideally to structure and optimize the day (and feeling anxious and awful if things don’t go to plan). more so with excitement and anticipation, wanting to do and see everything! even seconds felt longer, fuller. i was with a friend who was leaving, so with this in mind i tried to soak up all the time i could. i wish people never left, but there they were in front of me and far away, walking through the window frame without casting a second look. what a place for a goodbye, hm?“

“Oasis Fresh is a hidden gem. The food is great. They stay open late, usually closing at 4am. Fast service. Not to mention, the food is ALWAYS fresh. I’ve ordered close the closing time and the food is just as good as opening and midday, which is rare and hard to find. They have great vegan options: Vegetable and falafel salads, bowls, and wraps. They really do have the best falafels in the Chicago. I’ve taken plenty of my friends and family here and they all love the food. Oh and Everything is Halal.“
