“We were able able to make a reservation via Google, and when we arrived they were expecting us. The staff is really nice, took our drink order right away (coffee and waters) and then our food order soon after. I loved my endless cup of coffee and banana crepes. One person ordered chiquillas, which looked great. We added meat sides later, which came right away. The bill was totally reasonable (no separate checks tho, FYI), and everyone left full and happy.“

“I have nothing but compliments for this wonderful establishment! My fiancé and I went out to dinner last night and had a taste for authentic Italian. I found this place online and read nothing but wonderful reviews about the food, and service. Located in downtown Westmont. Parking was so easy (right across the street), and from the moment we walked in we were treated like royalty. The manager Sergio greeted us with a huge smile, sat us, and told us a little about the restaurant. Our server Alysa was nothing short of amazing, knowledgeable, and gave us wonderful recommendations. We felt like family! All of the food is made in house, pastas, sauces, and even the wine and desserts! You can taste the quality of the ingredients, and tell that every single person puts so much care into making sure every customer is happy. The whole experience was wonderful, and it’s so nice to see small (not chain restaurants) are thriving. It’s been a long time since we had an experience like this at a restaurant and we appreciate their hospitality! I think we found our new date night spot! We will be back!! OFTEN! “Yesterday I took the Sourdough Breadmaking Class with Chef George at The Ancestral Oven and I just pulled an amazing loaf of bread out of my home oven 24 hours later! Chef George provided all the necessary instruction and supplies - including a lively starter - for students to start their own sourdough journey at home. The class included hands-on experience feeding the starter, as well as folding and shaping the dough. I had a great time at the class and can't wait to return to try out the breakfast and lunch menu at The Ancestral Oven Bakery and Cafe.“

“This is a really nice place for special occasions, a date, or getting together with friends. The menu is varied, everything I've ever had has been excellent from the Beef Bourguignon Crepe to the French Onion soup. The atmosphere is lovely. The down side to me has been the wait staff is almost always a bit pretentious. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to see if it was the same waitress that seemed that way. I shall in the future.“

My meal was so good, I couldn't wait to get at my leftovers (and my wife's leftovers when she wasn't looking). They are not close to where we live, but we'd definitely go back next time we're in the area!!“

Loved the stuffed cabbage, don't miss out on this. Get a little bit of everything. This place is unbelievable price you can't beat it for that too. The little tarts for dessert are so soft and crisp. They must make almost everything from scratch. I don't like Chicago area but I'd drive up for just this place alone.“
