Their credit card machine was down and I told him I only had $50 cash to buy food for my workers and I which I’m sure was going to be over that since the 40 wing deal was like $45 alone. He said not to worry about it and he’d make it happen. He gave us extra veggies and fries with cheese for free and just had an all around good attitude. Considering my shop is down the street from them, we’ll definitely be coming back here when we’re craving wings ??“

“Love that this place is dog friendly! My friend told me that it used to be a house but after it burned down they turned it into a bar. They have a heated indoor patio and outdoor patio in addition to the inside space. Our bartender was fabulous but I didn't catch her name. The drinks were all top-knotch, I wish they had food but they do allow you to bring in outdoor food. We ordered pizza and then a guy selling tamales came around. Overall a super fun night and can't wait to come back!“

“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this.One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. “We had a 1:45 reservation to Paradise Park because I felt like it would be a cool spot to take my sister since it’s her first time in town.After sitting around for 10 minutes, our friend Niko, takes our drink order. After another 10 minutes, we finally received our drinks (from someone else) and had to ask him to take our food order.We waited as our food trickled in, with no more appearances from Niko. He never came to refill our water pitcher that we had finished or ask if we wanted more beverages after we finished our first ones. After all our food had arrived (by other staff), we were able to catch him and order another beverage.After plenty of waisted time and being completely ignored, we asked for the check and two to go boxes. We waited 15 minutes for him to bring the check. And knowing his behavior, I placed the card in immediately, but he had already walked away. Then we had the pleasure of watching him talk to the front staff for 10 minutes while we waited to literally just leave.Safe to say at this point, I was absolutely disgruntled by the poor quality “service.” So I was not feeling generous when it came time to tip. Which is wild because I have literally never tipped below 25%. But it was genuinely that bad. We paid and at this point were just waiting for boxes, which we expected to take forever by this point as well. But after 10 minutes, and watching the table next to us ask for boxes, and receive them immediately, we get his attention and remind him we are waiting for those boxes.To which he says that he would, but we “only tipped 9% and he doesn’t work for free.” And then storms off to the back. I go to the bar and ask for boxes, which I honestly should have just done the entire time because it would have made things go ten times faster.It was a frustrating experience, but Tony was very on top of things and handled the situation promptly, generously, and with a lot of care. It very much feels they are concerned with the customer experience and they handled the situation quite well. I do believe this is an isolated incident and not a reflection on the establishment. So for that reason, I will be back, and have chosen to still recommend paradise park as a very fun place to get good food and great drinks.“

“I have enjoyed beer from Alarmist Brewing in the past, but on a recent sunny Saturday afternoon my love and I decided to finally visit Alarmist Brewing and Taproom. It is situated in Sauganash on Peterson, just about two blocks west of the Pulaski bus terminus. There is a free parking lot in case you are driving here. They have an outdoor patio, but we gladly grabbed seats in the taproom that faced out the "front window" for great people and dog watching. The menu lists two different flights, and we went with the Hoppy Flight with six 4-ounce pours. They don't serve food, but the staff was fine with us bringing in some sandwiches and chips to eat.“
“The batter is unbelievable! It is fluffy and tasty. The chicken is perfectly done. I just couldn't believe the batter. I don't think I've had batter on chicken like that before. Also, they accommodated my request of not wanting thighs in my 4 piece (I am not a fan of chicken thighs ( thighs are too gamey for my taste). So I very much appreciate that. Since trying it the first time, I have gone almost every week now.“

“Avondale coffee club is a great little spot in the neighborhood. The space is small, but full of character and coziness. There's a couch section in the middle and several tables/chairs along the walls of the space. Next to the register are several quality coffee brewers/items and coffee beans for sale. “Absolutely phenomenal!We started with chicharrones & cocktails - an espresso martini the firebird. Neither were overly sweet and very well balanced. The fried pork skin was super crispy, hard & crunchy in spots and was served with a spicy chalula sauce. So good!For entrees, we ordered the half chicken special and the steak dish. I am dreaming of the chicken dish, it was so perfectly seasoned and prepared. It sat on a warm bed of potato puree with cranberry that was slightly sweet and acidic and perfectly paired with the chicken. The steak was cooked well, thickly sliced and adorned with this light horseradish sauce that was delicious.Their red wine menu has some great old world selections that pair beautifully with the flavors presented.We sat at the bar and our server was attentive and awesome at explaining offerings with details.I am so happy they are here ! There will be some intriguing flavors that you are not likely to find elsewhere.The music venue in the back is a unique feature of this establishment. Arroz con gandules, best rice I’ve had and now I’m trying to revamp my own recipe. Tostones, nice and crispy with a side of mayo ketchup. Pinchos served with a nub of garlicy bread and bbq sauce. My mom visited from out of state and she said the sorullos here reminded her of my late great grandmother’s back in the island. Just an absolute treat - be careful and don’t get carried away like I did the first time and spend a whole paycheck!“

Not the crispy type of fries.Shepherd’s Pie: was hearty and the buttery toasted bread it was served with was delectable.Beef chili: was served with tortilla chips so I ate it more like a dip. “I hosted a party here last month and everything about the experience was above and beyond. Isaac and the full team were so welcoming to our party which spanned in age from 9mos to 76. The other patrons were also so friendly and we had a great time. The oldest and youngest among us were able to enjoy the atmosphere and celebrate but leave before the bar got too crowded and the rest of the party carried on while the bar filled.
