“Absolutely one of the best middle eastern restaurants in Chicago. The mezas dish, exceptional. The lamb stew on egg plant, among. The specialty drinks, creative. The desserts, light custard, delicious. The service, friendly, helpful, interesting, delightful. Value, worthwhile. Go out to Turqoise for the meal and experience.“

“Well this is my 2nd time trying Somali cuisine. I went to a different restaurant for Somali a long time ago and I found their food confusing. I would assume they right next to Ethiopia they would eat someone of the same cuisine despite being predominantly Muslim but it's somewhat the same? It's particular restaurant feels more of a hole in the wall for East African Somali. It was like that with the other restaurant I went to long ago. Most people would consider this dirty ambience for it being a hole in the wall. But I decided to give this one up north a try. The menu had very limited selection I ordered one dish which is served with pasta which I thought was weird. I don't know if it's bad authentic? Other than that I'm just waiting for them to cook and I had a pomegranate drink that's halal. Do Note it looks like they don't have air conditioning. So I can't imagine coming here in the summertime to eat with just a fan well. I just learned Mussolini also invaded Somalia also which is why they had assimilated to some dishes especially pasta. The food was actually pretty decent especially using angel hair pasta I was surprised that they had spices to it. Which made it spicy hot. The owner gave a complimentary tea served hot which was good sweet. It has a spicy aftertaste to fight the sweetness. I would have to come here again for the breakfast time to try their version of Somalia injera since they only eat it for breakfast unlike Ethiopia they eat inejera every day when I was there. The only the owner said that Somalian injera taste different. I wonder if they use the same ingredients such as tef grain? Despite their limited dishes do give it a try especially the pasta surprisingly I will come back for goat dish or breakfast Somalian injera“

“I had an outstanding experience with Day’s Hot Chicken in Chicago. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top notch. We ordered through DoorDash, and when we called the restaurant, they were incredibly generous. Since we loved the food so much, they went above and beyond by adding extra items like mac and cheese and additional fries. It was a thoughtful gesture that truly enhanced the experience. I highly recommend Day’s Hot Chicken for anyone craving delicious food and exceptional service.“

“Absolutely phenomenal south Indian food. We came in to dine in but had to get it to-go due to an emergency. The staff was super accommodating and the Veg Thali (sampler platter) was absolutely divine. My friends got the Mutton Thali and Chicken Thali and said it is some of the best food they've had in Chicago. Spice level is definitely on the hotter side of restaurants I've been to but that made for a great meal. Incredibly affordable too. At ~$15 per person and plenty of tasty leftovers that keep well, I'll definitely be making a point to return soon.“

“I usually LOVE this place. But the food has been very inconsistent lately at the Troy, MI location. I get the same thing every week. And every week it’s a little different. I get the mixed platter. Last week there was no sauce, and I always order extra on the side, but the little cup was only half full. So, no sauce on the platter, and barely any on the side. This week there were more onions than gyro/chicken. Barely any meat; very meager portion. And still, side of sauce only half full. Super disappointed. I’ll give them one more chance, then I’ll have to stop giving them my business.“

“Mandi k rice ka level alag hi hai. 😋
But they need to work on these
I would ask them to garnish mandi with fresh fried onion instead of ready-made fried onion.
Rotisserie chicken is not well cooked, only the upper layer is crispy and rest inside is taste less and chicken is chewy/tough.
Lamb shank they serve is tasty but its not not easy to cut (tendered)
In picture its a MANDI platter.“

“Great no fuss late night spot where Uzbeks and Kryrgs and others can come and have tea and chat and enjoy a familiar meal. Various products for sale or to take home. You won't get many words from them. Service is a bit slow but the Food is amazing. Restaurant space is chill and accommodating, plenty of room to sit. Food comes out piping hot. Hours are loose. Show up and see whether they're open. Sometimes they'll hang out past 12 and let people sit in and relax and enjoy their meal. Great spot, glad I found it. Instant favorite.“

“Their Kabuli Pulau is so good! The most tender and flavorful lamb leg in the chicago area. And their rice! Moist and perfectly seasoned.
Better than Kabobi, better than Kabul.
Service is good and they are attentive.
Atmosphere is calm, nice vibes to enjoy their cardamom tea after your meal.
Lamb kabob, beef shami, and chicken shami also delicious.“

“Leaving 49 E Division Location As I Type this review Went to the location on Wabash closer to downtown and IDK WHY I went there because It’s always a disappointment The meat is never fresh and the beef it’s always burnt But Because I love Halal Guys I ended up having to come back north to the division location where I usually go and as always, I’m never disappointed should’ve came here from the beginning. OSO took very good care of me now I’m happy BIG SHOUT OUT TO OSO AND THE DIVISION Location for always standing on business.“

“Always delicious! Always accommodating…over the past five years I’ve experienced feeding from 3-30, and never disappointed! The service is always great! They take huge pride in their food and work. We just had a party for 30, and I should have just put out a banner so people would stop asking me where the food was from 💖. All were very impressed!“

“Ya Hala truly lives up to its name — a warm welcome from start to finish. The moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly grilled meats and spices wraps around you like a hug from home. The staff is attentive without hovering, and every dish feels prepared with real care. The hummus is creamy and rich, the shawarma tender and bursting with flavor, and the falafel has that perfect crispy shell with a soft, savory center.
What makes Ya Hala stand out, though, is its atmosphere — relaxed yet vibrant, perfect for both family dinners and casual nights out. Portions are generous, prices fair, and you leave both full and genuinely satisfied. Ya Hala isn’t just another Mediterranean restaurant; it’s a true gem that makes you want to come back again and again.“

“Zad by Pita Inn in Skokie, Illinois, offers a delightful four-star dive into Mediterranean cuisine with its fresh, flavorful dishes that blend authenticity and affordability, making it a go-to spot for quick yet satisfying meals in a casual setting. The steak shawarma wraps tender, spiced meat in warm pita with creamy hummus and crisp veggies that burst with Middle Eastern zest, while the lamb dishes impress with their juicy tenderness and aromatic spices, all served in generous portions that feel like a steal for the price. The clean, no-frills counter-service atmosphere hums with efficient staff who keep things moving smoothly, though occasional inconsistencies in seasoning or tougher cuts during busy rushes can slightly detract from the experience. Overall, it’s a reliable neighborhood gem for falafel lovers and shawarma enthusiasts alike, with gluten-friendly options adding to its appeal, even if it doesn’t quite reach the pinnacle of gourmet flair.“

“Not the best single slice place in the area, maybe it depends on the time of day because mine were not crispy and had probably been sitting on the warmer for too long. The other food looks good so would maybe go back to try another item but the slices are meh.“

“I went here to celebrate a birthday and I absolutely loved it. I got the chicken sandwich and my partner got the 8am burger with fries. They give you a mountain of fries. Both sandwiches were big and left me feeling full. The chicken is fried like a fish and I love the breading. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for varieties of burgers and a pretty chill restaurant environment. Parking was easy to find (street parking) and they have some games in the back while you wait for your food which is nice.“

“A true unknown gem of Chicago, this place makes hand down the best fried chicken—you would never guess. The staff is always friendly and the service is always fast, even though they fresh fry each order. Do yourself a favor and try it once and you’ll never visit the McDonald’s right across the street again.“

“I have enjoyed my experience at Slim’s. The food was jaw-droppingly delicious. I had one of my favorite Chicago style hotdogs EVER! My uncle completely ADORDED his Chili Dog. The food was five a out of five! The service was as good our food came quickly which showed us that the chefs really cared about their loyal customers. Our server was ok but she was a little monotone. Like, would it kill her to be a little more cheerful? Overall the service was ok. The atmosphere was what I really didn’t like. First of all it smelled like gasoline or something was burning. Plus, the video game was broken. Even though there was a few mishaps here and there it was ok and I would probably go again. Thank you!“
“clean, very fast. great hours!!“
“I visited the store first time and it was a great experience. Halal fresh food was too good specially Grill Chicken , Rotisserie Chicken . The raw meat is pure zabiha halal HMS approved. I recommend to visit for Indian & Pakistani taste and style . Peace !“
“Very nice central asian restaurant with cheap food and very generous portions, you can almost feed 3 people with 1 plate that's how big the portions are but you get to take more home which is good. My favorite dishes were the Mamti, which are steamed dumplings, and the fried laymgman which is pasta with vegetables and meat.“

“I like to say “good food makes a soul happy”. When I'm having a tough day, nothing satisfies like good food. I ordered a double smashburger through Uber Eats, and it arrived warm with crispy fries. Everything was packed neatly, which made me excited to dig in. The burger was fantastic!! soft, perfectly seasoned, and the smash sauce was great! Unlike other places that over-salt their burgers, this one was spot on. I’ve found my new go-to spot. The fries were also a good portion. I’ll definitely order from there again, as long as they keep the seasoning consistent bc too much salt can ruin a meal!“

“We tried Byrd’s Hot Chicken in Skokie and it was absolutely worth it! We ordered the Byrd Bomb (crispy tenders with cheese, slaw, 24 karat sauce, pickles on bread and hot toast) and it was packed with flavor. The hot chicken sandwich was juicy and had the perfect kick, while the crispy Byrd wrap was a great twist with amazing crunch. We also got a full order of wings, and they were cooked perfectly—crispy on the outside and tender inside.
The drinks selection is solid (Pepsi products) and paired perfectly with the heat. Service was great, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the place had plenty of space with lots of parking available.
If you’re looking for delicious hot halal chicken with great portions and excellent service, this is the spot. Definitely coming back! Also they are on uber eats and open super late“

“Stopped by this gem of a Desi American restaurant and was blown away! The Butter Chicken ($17.99) was rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced - exactly how it should be. The Aloo Keema ($17.99) was just as impressive, with tender potatoes and flavorful minced meat cooked to perfection. Portions were generous, and the service was warm and attentive without being pushy. You can really tell they put care into every dish. Definitely coming back - this place is a must-try if you're craving authentic flavors done right!“

“I love this place. Been going here for 2 and a half years now. My favorite go to spot to cheat on my diet. I always get the 8 piece whole wings and fries with a lot of lemon pepper always a 10 out of 10. I did try other things like the shawarma plate and chicken strips (both 5 out of 10) room for improvement. The burgers are 9 out of 10 great combination of flavors, note I tried the warrior burger and bacon cheeseburger. Today I tried the Philly beef cheese steak sandwich and OMG melt in your mouth gooey goodness definitely a 10 out of 10. They accomodated me on my mushroom allergy, so thankful for that. My only regret is that wish I tried it sooner.
The staff at Ali's Broast and Burgers are all super friendly and fast. And the smells are free!!!! It smells and tastes like they change their grease often and the place is always clean. Ali's Broast and Burgers is a million times better than tasty sub on Damen which I only went to once and could tell they don't change their grease. Never again tasty sub. I walked 2 blocks or so further to Ridge blvd and Ali's broast was a game changer from day one. Going to try their fish next. Will update. But overall 10 out of 10 definitely recommend again and again.“
