“Went to Panera in FRG with my 2 kiddos today, and despite my goofy 4 year old acting up, it was one of the best Panera experiences I’ve ever had. The manager on duty (which I regretfully didn’t catch his name) greeted us right when we walked in and asked my son what he felt like eating. He then made sure the cashier gave us complimentary treats. When our food was ready, he walked the food over to our table so I didn’t have to bring both kids up to the counter. One of the other employees cleared our table for us as well. It was full-service amazingness! Thank you!“

I recently hosted a birthday celebration at Medieval Times Schaumburg, and it was nothing short of magical! From the moment we walked in, we were transported to another world—a medieval kingdom filled with knights, royalty, and excitement. This was the perfect venue for a group birthday celebration, and here’s why:

Immersive Experience

The atmosphere at Medieval Times is truly immersive. The castle entrance, the banners, the sounds of trumpets—it all makes you feel like you’re stepping into a living, breathing medieval story. We were greeted by the knights and staff as we entered, setting the stage for an epic evening. Even the décor and costumes added to the authenticity, making it easy to forget you were in suburban Schaumburg and not in a faraway kingdom.

Amazing Group Dining

The four-course feast was one of the highlights of the night! It’s served without silverware (a fun, authentic touch) and features hearty, delicious dishes like roast chicken, BBQ ribs, potato wedges, and corn on the cob. The food was fantastic and more than enough to satisfy even the biggest appetites. Everyone at our table had a great time sharing the experience, laughing, and enjoying the meal together.

It was especially fun to dig into our meal while watching the action unfold right in front of us. Everyone was so engaged, cheering on our knight (we were on the Red team!) and getting caught up in the excitement of the jousting and sword fighting. The food was served promptly, and there was plenty of time to savor it while soaking in the show.

The show itself is a thrilling combination of jousting, sword fights, and medieval drama. Our group was on the edge of our seats the entire time—cheering, gasping, and even groaning at the tense moments. It’s a high-energy, action-packed performance that’s perfect for a group to enjoy together, especially if you’re looking to get involved. The knights really put on a show, and you could feel the competition in the air.

What made it even better was that the birthday guest of honor was recognized during the show, and they even received a birthday shout-out from the queen and the knights! It was such a fun touch that made the birthday celebration feel extra special. They also received a crown, which was a great keepsake and photo op.

Exceptional Service

The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. They were friendly, attentive, and really made us feel like we were part of the medieval court. They even brought out a special birthday dessert (apple pie) to the guest of honor, complete with a small celebration. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday,” which made the moment feel even more magical. The entire staff was incredibly professional and made the night run smoothly, which was especially important for a large group.

One of the best things about Medieval Times is how it caters to all ages. We had kids, teens, and adults in our group, and everyone had a fantastic time. Not overcooked and tough or soggy as they can get .The oyakodon was similarly scrumptious. Staff pleasant but the server seemed to be working the kitchen also but attentive to us. In strip mall with other businesses. I could see the parking may get tight if all are busy.“

The place has been renovated and looks very nice and very clean (including the very nice restroom). The food and service were, both, wonderful with nice selections on the menu. We went on a weekend, so they had a piano player who was very good. Even the prices weren't the usual "painful" experience of most restaurants. We will, definitely, return. “My waiter was good and friendly. I sat in covered patio. I ordered a spring salad with shrimp. blackberries, grapefruit, candied pecans, arugula and berry vinaigrette and a side of Mac n cheese. The salad was missing the pecans but I forgot until I left, I thought something was missing. However, the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The ratio of shrimp to half portion was good. Mac N Cheese was ok. Noodles were undercooked and some still hard/crunchy edges and cheese sauce was just average and a bit gritty/thick. However, I was not expecting my meal to be served with plastic wrapped plastic utensils. a take home box for salad and a take home container for dining in. That was disappointing. the table of eight next to me was a bit shocked too to get their meals in to go cardboard containers.“

The burger is good and I have ended up getting a kid's meal last time so that I can try to eat less meat. I am more of a light weight person anyway. The inside of the restaurant could be renovated. They are still in the real old Kooker's building with the same old tile floor that Kooker's restaurant had when I was in high school. It is over 20 years later now. I have been willing to go back to Happy Burger to get meals. The people at the front desk are nice. I do admit, though, sometimes I end up getting a burger for $3 at fast food drive-throughs. Happy Burger (HB) burger tastes more like a fresh made juicy burger when compared to the McDonald's on the other side of the street. HB fries are not bad but could be better because when the HB fries come up and go into a bag, I have found they were a bit wet.Wet fries is a common imperfection with Chicago-style grills.“
