I wanted to taste the sandwiches to make sure they would hit. I only got corned beef from Detroit and my favorites are from coney islands. We took one bite of this sandwich turned around and got 2 more. The corned beef melts like butter sandwiches are amazing“

Just not what I normally expect at an ice cream “shoppe” (shoppe with that spelling always has a quant vibe), with quotes on the walls about dead humans and such. Clearly a lot of love goes into the decor, and I’m not tucking anyone else’s yum- hence the five stars. But I did worry that the mannequins and paintings might give a young kid some nightmares. Fortunately he mostly looked at the ceiling, which is a super cool cloudscape. So, yeah. Amazing service, ice cream, and super friendly… just feels at odds with the decor.“

“I had to order quite a bit of  food for a lunch for my family and I before we were supposed to be going to a wedding. We stayed at a hotel nearby and knew that we would not eat dinner until much later and needed something to hold us over. This place was the perfect option.
Not only was I able to get the prices over the phone, the people who work here texted me pictures of food, sent prices and confirmed sizes with me and gave recommendations about how much to get for how many people, including telling me how long before I needed to order to make sure I got my order ready in time for pick up since I was ordering in advance.
The Afghani palaou was fantastic, as was the garlic and spicy green sauce.
I especially loved the mix kabobs and I wish they had this option at all afghan/ pakistani places. The option to get a mix tray of kabobs with the pieces cut up would be a game changer for parties!
I ordered a small tray of salad thinking not many people would like it (but I like salad so I figured I would have leftovers for later), but to my surprise that was gobbled up quick! Everyone loved it. I'm a fan of this place and plan on dining in when I come next!“

“Only complaint was that the dining room was noisy, so that it made conversation difficult. Most likely the result of a large crowd, with a 20 to 40 minute wait.

Vegetarian options: Depends on how strict a vegetarian. It is authentic Greek cuisine, so there are many seafood options. Strict vegetarians will be limited to roasted vegetables and hummus dishes, but they will try their best to accommodate.

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free dishes are labeled on the menu, but I don't think this is a totally gluten free kitchen with separate prep and cooking areas.

Parking: Large self parking lot that can overflow into other parking areas.

Kid-friendliness: Lots of families with children dine here. Many options on a children's menu.

Wheelchair accessibility: Large dining area with good access to move around, including the washrooms. Very little floor transitions (bumps or steps) unless one is going to back private dining rooms.“

“Incredible experience. Very cool interior, the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating, and the food was absolutely outstanding. We got the Kal Bi and Pork Kimchi Bokum. It was an absolute FEAST for 2 for about $65. Came with 5 sides (plus refills), rice, soup, lettuce for wraps, etc. and topped it off with a couple Haagen Dazs ice cream bars. “OMG WOW! Amazing bakery! I go to tons of bakeries & I think this is the best one in Oak Park & one of the best in Chicagoland! I LOVED everything I tried from the cookies, to muffins to scones. Super high quality & extremely fresh products. Some of the pastries were still warm from the oven as I got there right at 8 am when they open. Even then, there was a little line out the door. Many people got coffee drinks but I didn’t this time. They also have $2 wonky cookies (just weirdly shaped cookies) that are a great deal. I tried: chocolate chip cookie, banana bread, vegan chocolate muffin (extra delish), goat cheese chili scone (excellent) & the wonky birthday cookie (amazing & buttery - melts in your mouth). Can’t wait to go back & try other things! Please note the place is tiny with only a few tables & chairs & there’s metered street parking so I took my order to go.

The fried rice and the Mac n cheese and the jerk wings (even the vegan Mac n cheese, btw)? You don't even know. Last but not least- let me say that these folks are also so kind and thoughtful. “Hi View will always hold a special place in my heart. My husband has been taking me here for nearly 10 years, and he has been going since long before that. I’ve never had a dish here I don’t like. My favorite things from here are the soups (specifically the cream of chicken rice and French Onion) and the chopped steak breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes. Their pancakes are the BEST ever and I swear by that.
The servers are extremely kind and always interact with regulars. When I was on a liquid diet prior to and after abdominal surgery, they were kind enough to strain soups for me so I could still have something to enjoy. They take care of you like family and that’s why I’ll always support Hi View.
