“We went back to Citrine for pre-concert eats on our way to Chicago. This is a Mediterranean-type restaurant. Cocktails are good, food is good. Service is impeccable. Our server this visit was Theo, and he was attentive and friendly. The other staff from the young woman who sat us to the guys who delivered food and cleared the table were attentive and always gave us a smile. My husband and I started out with a glass of wine and a cocktail. We decided once again to share small plates together. We had the New York strip steak tartare. It's absolutely fabulous so we had to have it again. Fresh steak with a raw egg on top that oozes into the steak as you break it, it's perfection. We also got the homemade lepinja bread served warm with a couple spreads. I can't eat nuts or seeds and it came out covered with sesame seeds. No problem, Theo was more than happy to take it back and have bread made just for me without seeds. That's great service. We then shared the roasted beet salad which had arugula, goat cheese, avocado, and orange. It was a very small salad for the price of $14. Having said that, the salad was fresh and I liked the different textures, but it was the size of a small side salad and not worth the price. I would pass on this my next visit. The final dish we shared was the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large and grilled perfectly, the grits were creamy. This dish was packed with flavor and some heat. Delicious. Citrine accepts reservations and parking is paid street parking. I definitely recommend this restaurant and you must try the steak tartare. So damn delicious!“

“Sen Sushi is a tad hidden off of Oak Park Street near Addis’ Cafe. It’s a clean no frills place that offers good amount of specialty rolls and great Sashimi and Nigiri sets. They don’t take reservations and it is small, but seems like turn over is pretty fast. Definitely a place to try if you want decent sushi this side of the burbs.Parking: There is paid parking in front of the building or if u go about half a block down, free parking in front of the houses.“

“The first thing that I noticed about Amerikas was the super lively and bright ambiance. I went I on a Saturday night with my wife, so I wasn't surprised by all of the people dining and having a good time, and as I ate my dinner I definitely learned why. The decor is bright and fun. The walls are lined by mutuals, mostly yellow, with big splashes of color. I liked how then kept the lights on to keep the atmosphere bright and fun. The food was delicious too. My wife and ordered the pulpo, barbacoa, tacos (shrimp and pork shoulder), tostada de pescado, ceviche and the dragon fruit cheesecake for dessert. I enjoyed all of the dishes, my favorites were the barbacoa and the pulpo. The barbacoa was super flavorful and fell right off the bone, no knife was need. The pulpo was cooked to perfection and was tender and delicious. The risk with pulpo is that it can be chewy and tough, definitely not the case here. One note, the tostada for the tostada de pescado seem a bit too dry, but the flavor of fresh seafood made up for it. If you want a fun show with your food, order the ceviche, it comes out with a cool smoke effect. Overall, the service was fast and friendly, and the overall experience at the restaurant was enjoyable. While they don't have a parking lot, street parking is cheap (at least compared to Chicago) and plentiful. Amerikas is a must visit in Oak Park.“

“Last Friday, my team and I had the pleasure of dining at Maya Del Sol, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible service we received. After a long day of meetings, we were looking forward to unwinding and enjoying some good food, and Maya Del Sol exceeded our expectations. We had a party of about 22 people, which can be quite challenging for any restaurant to handle, but the staff at Maya Del Sol handled it with grace and efficiency. Our server, Erin, deserves special recognition for her outstanding service. She was attentive, fast, and incredibly patient with our large group. It's not easy to cater to the needs of 22 people, but Erin did it flawlessly and with a smile on her face. I have no doubt that Erin went home exhausted after serving us, but her exceptional customer service truly made our dining experience unforgettable. Thank you, Erin and the rest of the Maya Del Sol team, for your hard work and dedication. We will definitely be back for more delicious food and fantastic service!“

“My wife and I love coming to the Onion Roll for brunch! It was such a nice surprise finding this spot in recent years and we've enjoyed each visit subsequently. I always love the spaceman size Mr. Big or North Ave Nosh. Maria and Rafael are stars as well and offer wonderful, friendly service! This is an easy recommendation for anyone in the Austin or Oak Park areas!Kid-friendliness: Very nice kid menu options for a set price!“

“I never thought I'd say this about a teashop, but I am so thankful I made a reservation for afternoon tea! Tracy is an absolute delight. We ended up talking for hours, as if she had been a good friend for years. I had a cute little table by the front window, and each tea service has its own unique cups and saucers. There was a huge tea selection, so even the pickiest palates could find something they like. But the food...it was some of the best I have had in a long time! I kept trying the little sandwiches, waiting to get one I didn't like, but each one was fantastic. The lavender tea cookies were divine, and fresh out of the oven. And the afternoon tea was truly a meal on its own- I'm glad I skipped breakfast this morning. Anytime I'm in the area again, I am making a reservation. I 100% recommend the experience, so give Tracy a call ASAP!“

“Jerusalem Cafe is like a cheat code for affordable, nutritious food in Oak Park. It's just about the cheapest place to get tasty salmon in downtown OP, and all the food is reliably delicious. I've lived here long enough to remember the restaurants that used to occupy this space, and I'm glad Jerusalem Cafe has stuck around.“

“I enjoyed Vicolo Trattoria, the service was good, the ambiance was your basic Italian restaurant. They have a bar seating area and more tables in the back. They also have a large patio for seating outside in the summer that I can't wait to come back for. The food was great overall: we had the grilled calamari to start. It was just okay for me - I have had more flavorful grilled calamari before, but others may think the grilled calamari is great so it's really just personally preference. Entree: we had the lobster ravioli which was really tasty served in red sauce. Also tried the wrapped beef that my husband really liked. He asked for medium but it was probably prepared medium well - there wasn't much pink in it. Drinks: I am a margarita fan - tried the spicy pineapple margarita and it did not disappoint. It didn't taste too sweet and had the right amount of spice. Also tried the Mandarin dreamsicle - on the sweeter side and filling.“

“I just tried a mini pumpkin pie that was served at a wedding a few days ago. The pie was delicious and the crust was still flaky and perfect - and that’s after a few days! I can’t wait to take my family to the shop. As a mother to a daughter with Down Syndrome, I absolutely love supporting businesses like this. Thank you for creating job opportunities for people like my daughter!“

“One of us had an outstanding Manhattan and the other prosecco to start. Always enjoy the warm crusty bread that's a prelude. We split a Seafood Linguini which was excellent . Since it was Oak Park Restaurant Week we got a free dessert. We had warm apple tart with vanilla gelato which was also very fine.“

“A top notch bagelry! We arrived shortly after they opened on Saturday morning and there was already a line, so they are rightfully popular. They sell your classic bagel flavors, like sesame, everything, garlic, plain, etc, and then also sell a flavor of the week. They kindly offer small tastings of the flavor of the week at the counter, so you can make a quick-second decision if you want to try their weekly special. They have a variety of yummy cream cheeses that you can get on your bagel or buy an 8-oz container to take home. They also sell a variety of bagel sandwiches! AND if you arrive before 10 am, you can get a bagel with cream cheese and regular coffee for just $5.25, which is a great offer! Will happily visit again!“

“Fantastic food, competitive prices for FRESH food and incredibly friendly staff. Food was made super fresh and their Crab Ragoon has real crab in it (and lots of it as well). The atmosphere could use some updates, but it doesn't take away from the quality of the food which is why I go here. The owners are a young family with two kiddos the same age as mine (1 and 2 years) and their daughter presented my daughter with a traditional Thai elephant keychain. I absolutely love everything about this place and the food.“

“Service at Hemingway's is always wonderful. Onion soup is always outstanding! My husband's steak was excellent. Chicken pot pie was under salted and sort of flavorless. Everything could have been about half the size. Lovely setting, but tables are very close together. On Valentine's Day, the crowded atmosphere was a little overwhelming. I have had better food at Hemingway's on many occasions, so I will still go there and recommend it to friends.“

“Pablo, our waiter, was exceptional. During our first visit here, he warmly welcomed us and showcased impressive knowledge of the menu, even extending to items not listed. He encouraged us to customize our meal to our liking, and he certainly delivered! For starters, we chose the grilled calamari and Rockefeller oysters. The calamari was tender and impeccably cooked, steering clear of the typical rubbery texture. Opting for balsamic instead of oil was a perfect choice. The oysters were superb, not overwhelmed with cheese. I ordered the veal picatta from the menu, expecting a thin slab, but was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size. The angel hair pasta complemented the dish well, although I could have done without the mushrooms – a personal preference, which I should've mentioned. Nonetheless, if you're a mushroom enthusiast, they give you plenty. My boyfriend ordered off-menu, enjoying the Zuppe di Pesce with shrimp, clams, extra calamari, and rigatoni Diablo style in red sauce. It was absolutely amazing and satisfied his taste without being overly spicy. To accompany the meal, I had a glass of the house Chardonnay, which was light and buttery. Even my boyfriend, who doesn't typically drink wine, enjoyed it. Our heartfelt thanks to Pablo and the owner/chef Giovanni for an outstanding dining experience, both in terms of the meal and the service.“

“Sushi House in Oak Park is a true gem! Mike's exceptional service, combined with the best margaritas I've ever had, made our visit unforgettable. The fire dragon roll stole the show, presented with a torch for added flair. Everything was so good that we had to return the next day. And don't forget to check out the dope speakeasy in the basement—it's a hidden culinary haven that adds a touch of sophistication to the overall experience. This spot is a must-try! ????“

“Hecho is small and feels a little like a hole in the wall, but the food is excellent. We started with chips, salsa and guacamole. The red salsa was zippy but not too hot. Guacamole was excellent. I was happy with the number of vegetarian Taco options that were available. I had the Napolitos and the Jamaica. The former was good, the ladder was amazing. Contained marinated and sautéed hibiscus, pineapple and black bean parade. The flavors married together really well. The cocktail options were excellent as well. I had the Hatch of margarita. I would've drank. It is good, not great. My niece had the cucumber margarita which was amazing. That was a perfect combination of cool and tart. Great restaurant for a quick bite to eat and creative food.“

“Delicious pastries!!! Loved everything I ordered. There are a few seats inside, but it's more like a takeaway spot, so I would not expect to come here and hunker down with work/studying, or to meet up with a larger group. It seems they use quality/fresh ingredients and clearly the pastry chef knows what they are doing, but the prices were jawdropping. If you want a really good pastry and don't mind shelling out $$$$ for it, I'd recommend this place. But if you're looking for a neighborhood spot that is affordable enough for everyday/regular coffee and pastries, this is probably not the place. As for parking, there are a few metered parking lots nearby, but can be challenging to find a spot on the weekend.“

“With so many Chinese/Asian options, Katy's Dumplings- Oak Park can easily be missed. But don't! Don't miss out on good quality food with reasonable pricing and good portions. Our go to is definitely their General Taos Chicken. It manages to remain crispy and saucy at the same time! It has a perfect balance of sweetness and heat. Their noodle dishes are also amazing! Great flavor and so filling! Our son loves their noodles and their fried rice!“

“I did not feel like cooking breakfast this morning so I decided to order a breakfast burrito from here and it was delicious! The burrito was full of all the healthy good stuff. Scrambled eggs, red peppers, mixed greens, avocado and black beans all wrapped in a flour tortilla. The burrito came with a side of home fries (potatoes). You can get the salsas, the green one and orange one with a little kick and they both complement the burrito and add such flavor. I truly enjoyed it. It was the perfect size and quite filling, especially adding the side of potatoes. I've passed this bakery so many times and you notice it because it's so colorful and put you in the mind of an ice cream shop because the outside is so colorful. I want to try other items on the menu because their breakfast burrito was really good.“

“Service polite and quick. Space clean and well organized. Ordered the Papa Q platter, everything was good, especially the pork belly and sausage. Sides were cornbread, sweeter than traditional, mac q roni- tasty, coleslaw- creamy and traditional, and mashed potatoes with gravy-really good. Hush puppies were yummy too. Three sauces on table are all good individually but I mixed them all together, delish!“

“We've eaten at Cooper's Hawk a couple of times - the food is surprisingly good, like much better than I would've imagined for even a small chain. The wine is, of course, particularly good. I don't drink anymore but I loved their Zinfandel when I did, and we always get rave reviews when we gift a bottle of Cooper's Hawk wine.“

“My family and I were visiting Chicago for the first time last week and we stumbled upon Scratch on Lake when we needed a quick meal. I don’t ever write reviews but the service we received from Bridget was the best I have ever had! She was so kind to us and answered all of our questions. She even gave us recommendations for activities for the rest of our trip. Overall there are not enough words to describe how amazing of a waitress Bridget was! I will now tell all of my friends to visit Scratch on Lake when they are in Chicago!“

“First things first.,. WATCH YOUR STEP on the way in. It's posted, but if I could say nothing else, I would just say that. But I can totally say more. Service wasn't great at first. But it got better really quickly. This was my first experience with Indian food and it was really good to me. The dessert was meh but that's probably more my fault for not knowing what I was pointing at and not getting something to my preference because of it. I'm not holding the restaurant responsible for my ignorance. It was expensive. But of all the places I've been lately, it had good value for what we ordered.“

“We stopped in on a Saturday morning to grab coffee to go. We were asked three times, “Are you dining in or taking out?” The pace was urgent and staff was quite short with us. My friend wasn’t sure what flavors of muffins they had but panicked because the barista seemed exasperated and ended up not getting what he wanted. We were polite and grateful because we knew they were busy, but would have loved a bit more kindness. It’s a great location, had fun live music for a Saturday morning, and the drink hit the spot at a decent price. For take-out, was a slightly anxiety-inducing experience. I’d like to go back for dine-in to maybe be able to enjoy the experience more.“

“My wife and my go to bakery spot in Chicagoland. Everything we’ve gotten here is fantastic, and it is a regular spot we will frequent until we die! Order anything and you will not be disappointed. A short list of everything we love there: cookies, lemon pound cake, olive oil cake, Georgie cake, and their cold brew. The ambiance is also awesome for a date or to just chill with friends. Can’t go wrong here!“
