The service and friendliness of the staff were top tier and every dish we had was out of this world. What a gem of a place. The flavors of the pad thai were unmatched, and don’t even get me started on the custard taiyaki with ice cream. This chef’s talent is unmatched. Can’t wait to come back and to order for delivery and pickup too!“

“I’ve been going to Addis for the past 7 years and rarely skip a day… What drew me in was the very best tasting pour over that I’ve ever had and what keeps me coming back is the family feeling: from the friendly crew behind the counter to the local residents who make Addis a must have part of their daily routine, this place is well worth a try. I guarantee that once you try Addis coffee, their amazing waffles, avocado toast, Ethiopian chechebsa, turmeric lattes etc… you will be hooked!“

You thought you've had it all, that Chicago couldn't possibly have yet ANOTHER banger in Wicker Park, but i'll be damned, here we are. The cracklin' shrimp is so well done, I would eat a bowl of it. Lemony, spicy, deep fried deliciousness. The half chicken was among the best I've ever had (whatever that green sauce was, was KILLING IT) not to mention my wife's elote lasagna?!?! Planning to go back after checking out the neighborhood to take away more stuff like the spinach artichoke dip and thai chilli wings. Make sure to go on an empty stomach. “I recently was visiting Chicago and as a habit, I searched for Best Gluten Free bakery and discovered Defloured. What an amazing place. As a Celiac, finding good GF baked goods is rare to find. Wow what a selection. I purchased a chocolate cupcake, two love pucks, cinnamon rolls, poppy lemon bread, baguette, and aNutella sandwich cookie. Everything was really delicious. I mean world class quality. I now plan on making regular visits to Chicago so I can load up and fill my freezer with possibly the best GF baked goods in the U.S. I’ve tried a lot.“

“So this place was absolutely a great experience for us! I used to come here when I was younger. Now I'm able to bring my child here simply because they have non-dairy and peanut free options. When I initially called the woman that answered was so patient and even mentioned that when I arrived, I could ask the worker to please wash the serving spoon. So when we got there we were immediately greeted, and we explained that our child had allergies, they showed us the options and gave us samples to try we asked that the spoon be washed and without hesitation they did so. Good ice cream, great atmosphere and options for everyone. We will continue to come here. My 4 year old loved the lightning clouds on your ceiling. 🙂“

“OH! Are you in for a TREAT when you dine here. The food is sensational. We have traveled all of the world and lived all over the United States. The cuisine here is unique and out of this world. The recipes are unique to this restaurant. We have eaten at other Ethiopian restaurants. They do not even register next to this one. The Proprietor is SOOOOO nice. And, ask him what brought him to the United States. It's an emotionally moving story. If you haven't had Ethiopian cuisine before, it is NOT scary. There are hardy vegetarian and meatatarian dishes. So, there's something for everyone. And, the dishes that are spicy are mild. So, don't worry about your sensitive belly. The meal is a SHARED experience. So, make sure you bring friends. They will thank you afterwards for sure☺“

“The food was ok... I had fried green tomatoes, eggs, and bacon. The bacon was very thin and the portions were small. Nice atmosphere, but the restaurant is small and crowded... but they have outside seating as well. They seem to be very popular. The waitress was very delightful and helpful with providing info about the menu while I decided on what I wanted. I like this place! 💞“

“Always loved their Greek pastries, they are the best, started going to them 60 yrs ago with my mom and dad. We were always going to Hellas for our parties baptisms and weddings. All our holiday needs were easily available for us. Unfortunately, we moved out to Poplar Grove, Illinois near Belvedere and have missed them greatly. Earl Grey is a must if you like tea flavor remotely. Store attendent was nice, friendly, and provided recs. These were the best macaroons we've had so far in Chicago. Just go in, don't hesistate!!“

“Had lunch there today and I have to say this is the first time I was disappointed with the service. The food was excellent but that's it. Asked for 2nd drink and never got it. Water was never refilled until we were through eating. When first ordering our wine we had problems. I will continue to eat here and hopefully this is a one time occurrence.“

“I had heard Monti's was the best place to get a Philly in Chicago, and since I've been craving one lately, I had to give it a try. I can honestly say it's the best Philly I've had in Chicago and the surrounding areas. It definitely did not disappoint.

“This is not technically a review of their baked goods, which are undeniably amazing and baked with love as you’ll see in this story. Jennivee's Bakery , LLC’s AMAZING staff saved my dogs life!! This past Friday, one of the owners, Andres, the bakery staff, and an amazing group of dedicated bystanders rescued my dog, Mo, who had run off in Oz Park and was missing and in danger for hours prior to his rescue. After seeing Mo dart into traffic multiple times, this amazing group of strangers was able to corner him, and Andres bravely was able to grab him. He and the team at Jennivee’s then sheltered him and calmed him as long as it took and were ultimately able to bring him to Bond Vet who scanned his microchip and got in touch with me. My dogs are basically my kids. I pour allllll of my love into them. I still can’t believe how lucky we got and how close of a call this was. We’re shaken but relieved and endlessly grateful to Andres and everyone at Jennivee’s!!! Run don’t walk to get yourself some amazing treats and support this incredible business and the people in it!!!!“

“I am so glad I found this bread. For someone that not only has an issue with wheat and dairy but also oat, barley and rye this was such a joy to find this bread. I was skeptical at first but when I tried the bread it was AMAZING!!! The price is wonderful as well. This bread is so much better as to what you can get at your local store and also you don't have to make it. Just freeze it and then take it out and bake it! Wonderful!!! “OMG the coffee here is absolutely amazing, but the spinach pastry thing they have is to die for! I got one and we walked around the area for a bit, before leaving I had to run back inside to grab all the remaining spinach pastries! They only had one left and ofcourse i grabbed it immediately! “So today I had a friend in from out of town and we topped off our afternoon with a visit to Miski Bakery. I was dying to try the alfajores, and they did not disappoint! The very delicate morsels melted in our mouth, and the creamy luscious dollop of dulce de leche caramel was a perfect pairing. In addition we tried the Milhojas/Napoleons in two flavors the Lucuma pastry creme and also the dulce de leche. A thousand layers is correct, these were amazingly tall, crispy and filled with air, both were delicious but the Lucuma(a Peruvian fruit) pastry creme was the standout. It had such a delightful delicate flavor I had never tasted previously. After speaking with Carmen the owner I asked whether or not they ever carried Turrón de doñja Pepa. She just happened to have some freshly baked sitting on the tray behind the counter, but alas it was still awaiting its filling. This gives me a great reason to return and indulge in that special treat. It is prepared every other week. The service was warm and friendly. This is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood you shouldn't miss out on. I will be returning often.“

When my package arrived it was not in perfect condition....having traveled through a snow storm and a holiday weekend...it was disappointing..(FedEx, not them) I called them to say hello and alert them to my sadness....They not only replaced the promo box, but added extra goodies and shipped it overnight with a sweet message from the owner. 👍😍 First Class all the way...And, AMAZING sweets!
