The prices might seem high if you'reused to large franchise type delis, but these are not small sandwiches and can definitely be shared or have for multiple days. Saw the reviews for The Oak and we were so glad we did. The burger I had was the best burger I have ever had, our friend felt the same. My husband and our other friend had the rueben, they loved them also. We left the restaurant and we were going to take individual pics, then this really nice guy offered to take a picture of all of us. He was so very nice. Guess what, he was the owner. We will definitely be back on our next visit here and our friends will be back sooner. Great food!!!!”

I’ve been here over a dozen times in the past four years, and not once have I had a bad experience with either the service or the food. I’m always trying something new, and everything I’ve ordered has been flavorful and delicious.

If you sit at the bar, the bartenders are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. They mix a fantastic cocktail, too. I highly recommend this spot to anyone in the Glenview, Northbrook, or Northfield area or if you live in the city like me and want to try something different head north it’s truly a great place!”

While the name points toward classic Mexican treats, the menu is much broader and global. You’ll find Indian street food, Nepali momos, fusion fries, masala flavors, lassis, aguas frescas, and desserts all sharing the same space. It’s less about authenticity and more about variety and creativity.

The food was very good. The momos were delicious, and the loaded fries were a standout — flavorful, generous, and well executed. Everything we tried tasted fresh and satisfying.

A big plus is that the entire menu is halal, which is rare for this kind of snack-and-dessert concept and makes it especially appealing for families and groups with mixed tastes.

The ambience is simple and casual — more functional than trendy — but the customer service absolutely makes up for it. The owner was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely warm, which leaves a great impression.

I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, the dousing of powdered sugar not too thick and the texture fairly homogenous, which is a nice moderation after a big meal. salad had a great variety of vegetables and honestly I'd come here just for that. but my favorite part was the pizza. I got mushroom and black olive thin crust pizza. the sauce was lovely, smelled great too. they actually put the mushroom under the cheese, like civilized people, and not on top like the chains do. that way the mushroom juices actually absorb into the sauce and cheese, harmonizing the flavor compounds, instead of evaporating and feeling separated. why order mushroom if you do not love it enough to embrace its essense in abundance? why bother if only to just barely keep grasp on its form as a skeleton? service was great, appropriately timed and nice people.”

I especially like using their iPhone app. Easy to order and make customizations to your sandwich. I like to substitute the wheat wrap on my Spicy Southwest Chicken. The Chicken Tortilla soup is also fantastic - just enough heat for me. My wife loves the Savannah Chop salad. If you plan to eat in, study the menu before you go. You’ll have a hard time deciding! In my experience the prices for all there items we’ve ordered are reasonable. Example - the Savannah Chop salad was $8.89. Not bad for a large salad with grilled chicken. Support this business because they are a differentiator.”

“We have been going to Chinatown Kitchen since their kids were little and now they are in college. The food has always been fresh and delicious. Takeout area always clean and you can see an area of kitchen same way. We have certain preferences that we do not want put into the food and we are very happy the results and the tastes. “This Sunday was super busy, we almost left to try again another time, but they had put up a sign with the wait times for coffee and food, which was such a thoughtful and considerate touch. In the end, our food came in about half the estimated time, and we got our coffee right away.

Since it’s a brand-new spot, the crowds made total sense. We still found a seat immediately, and even though the place was packed, the noise level was totally manageable. Everyone seemed in great spirits, and you could feel how delighted the community is about this opening. It’s definitely a wonderful spot for families.

The iced coffee and avo lox toast were delicious. It’s a café, so I’m expecting quality ingredients without anything overly luxe, and that’s exactly what they delivered. Prices were fair, and the service was lovely.

We’re lucky to have Hometown in the suburbs, and I’m looking forward to the Northbrook location opening!”
