“Gpay didn't work and I had no physical card. After trying the Gpay several times, I gave up. The manager asked for the drink I was drinking back, lol. I got in the car, saw my wallet in the seat and decided not to go back in. I drove out of my way to try this food, but this experience with being asked for the drink back was shocking. #theapartmentlady“

“Absolutely the best Italian Beef sandwich on the south side, arguably the best in Chicago. The home made Giardiniera is also very good, with the perfect amount of heat. The sandwich is huge and the price is very good. Wish they had fresh cut fries. People working there are always nice. Small place, not a lot of seating, but has the old school Chicago vibe that I like. I live an hour away, but if I'm in the area I always stop in for a bite.“

What immediately stands out is the quality of the meat. The shawarma is expertly marinated, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with remarkable precision, achieving that ideal balance between tenderness and caramelized crispness that defines truly exceptional shawarma. Every bite is rich, flavorful, and unmistakably authentic.
My strongest recommendation is the Crispy Shawarma with a touch of Shatta. The contrast between the crispy edges of the meat and the subtle heat of the Shatta creates a beautifully balanced flavor profile that keeps you coming back for another bite. It's bold without being overwhelming and showcases a deep understanding of how texture and spice should complement each other.
Beyond the shawarma itself, the freshness of the ingredients is evident. The bread, vegetables, sauces, and accompaniments are all carefully selected and prepared. “Just came here for the first time to dine in! I’ve ordered on door dash multiple times their hotdogs which are always good.
The vibes are so nice and friendly here even the customers- everyone was so pleasant! I saw spaghetti with meatball on the menu and it peaked my interest lol I asked the worker how is it. He said it’s good! I asked if he thought I should get a hot dog or spaghetti. He said try the spaghetti. It was honestly great! It’s very affordable and hit the spot. I wouldn’t expect the spaghetti at a hot dog place to be so good! The meatballs were so delicious. The lady at the cashier with pink nails was so friendly and sweet as well. Honestly had such a nice time here and made my day 💕“

“In the past I was not really a Jerk food type of guy, but I love this place. The food was fresh and seasoned just like I like it. The overall atmosphere was great as well. Super clean sitting area with quiet music and television while you wait for your food. I've been there twice already, and will definitely be going back. It'll be one of my regular spots for lunch or dinner.“

“I got the lunch special which was a great deal two tacos and a House margarita for $13.67 including tax I got the Al pastor and the chorizo both were very good but the Al pastor was really excellent. My little dog was not allowed inside but they were happy to bring my order out to the patio which was shady and nice. I will definitely come back.“

“Went with the dipped Italian beef, hot giardiniera, and fries for lunch. The beef was tender and loaded with gravy, and the giardiniera gave it just enough heat without taking over. Fries were crisp and still hot when I sat down. Service was quick and the dining area was clean and easygoing, which made it a nice casual lunch stop.“

“The food was very good, however the service left me questioning if I ever want to come back here.
After ordering, which was its own difficult process because of a lack of clear communication, we pulled up to the drive through window and were greeted by a man, we didn’t catch his name, so in order to describe him I will say that he was a more substantial gentleman, a bit… “grand”.
He handed my boyfriend his drink with a death grip and a lid which clearly wasn’t the right size. the drink overflowed everywhere and the employee in question continued to shove the cup towards him and basically force this mess into our car!
We tried to be nice and accept it, putting it in our cup holder but the damage was done. It was everywhere, was a sticky mess, and the lid was useless. He made no attempt to assist us in this absolute disaster, and was silent the whole time. No remark of any kind, and he just looked at us with a blank stare.
So, I politely asked if we could have another drink because the lid was simply not fitting and it was spilling everywhere in the car. without a word, he did produce another, and shoved it towards us rudely, ignoring our polite thank you’s, acting as though it was a problem for HIM while we were wallowing in the sticky mess that he created.
He slammed the drive through window without another word. We believe that perhaps he was just having a bad day? Maybe he was just hungry? We’re not sure, because we’ve never had this experience after coming to this location dozens of times.“
