The food was good, service was great, and the ambiance was cozy and fun. I would recommend The Silo Restaurant for those that are having a difficult time narrowing down where to go as a family when everyone wants something different. I would definitely come back.“

Service was great (which we didn't experience in multiple fine dining restaurants downtown) and food was yummy and a good selection. .. they had awesome recommendations and treated us wonderfully! Didn't rush us and from 5-6pm we nearly had the place to ourselves before the dinner rush! Highly recommended by this out of town visiting family! “Ella’s Grill is such a friendly, amazing, hidden gem in Illinois. Me and my aunt went here and we were immediately greeted with the smell of fresh cooked meats and sweet pastries. I wish I knew the waitresses name because the service was incredible! She had dream catcher earrings and a black flower in her hair. She greeted us as soon as we came in and throughout the entire time we were there she was very efficient and always smiling! I got the Country Skillet and it was incredibly tasty with creamy gravy and such good potato’s! The coffee is super good as-well and the orange juice was super tasty. When we asked for the check the kind waitress gave us a warm smile and a piece of candy as she thanked us. As we left the cook thanked us as-well and was very nice to us. I couldn’t recommend this place more and it is now my new favourite breakfast place! Thanks Ella’s Grill!!!! ❤️❤️❤️“

“Bluegrass Restaurant is a wonderful, family-owned restaurant. We have been ordering takeout and eating in since we came to Highland Park three years ago. The owners take pride in managing the restaurant on a daily basis. They prioritize customer service, great food, and a warm, welcoming experience. Last night, they hosted the Highland Park/Highwood Professional Moms group. We had only expected 15 women to attend, but 25 women ended up coming. The owners and the staff were AMAZING. They brought over additional chairs. They provided us with top-notch service, including separate checks. They respected us when we were speaking to the group and quietly took orders in the background. I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant.“

Wine selections, guided by their recommendations, were uniformly well received by the table, showing thoughtful pairing and sound judgment. The meal began on a high note with excellent crusty bread, a simple but well-executed opening gesture that set expectations optimistically. The entrées, however, struggled to rise beyond adequacy. While none were poor, they failed to deliver the refinement or depth one hopes for. The veal parmigiana arrived in an impressively large portion but was overly breaded, sacrificing balance and nuance. In contrast, the risotto stood out as the best dish of the evening—properly executed, flavorful, and satisfying. Other diners echoed a similar sentiment: the food was good, but never quite great. This mirrors past experiences and suggests a recurring issue rather than an off night. Bottaio remains a solid option for casual Italian dining, particularly for those who value ambiance, wine, and congenial service.
