“We sort of fell upon Joanie's when we went to the Strawberry Festival in Long Grove and it was the star attraction for all of us!!! My husband and I had the most delicious salad that we completely devoured in record time along with that mouthwatering cheesy pizza that we ordered along with it!!! My Mom and Aunt ordered the chicken and Mom commented...."Now that's the way chicken is supposed to be made!!!" They were served a large tray with 4 LARGE pieces of chicken, potatoes, and long buns!!! They took half of it home and had it for dinner tonight!!! But the piece de resistance was the hot homemade strawberry rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream that seriously 4 of us shared!!!! Wow!!! What a treat!!! Oh... and....Our meals were served Hot....not cold....HOT...out of the oven.....again, the way a meal should be served! HOT!!! ha ha ha...The ambience was fun and the view of the water from our vantage point was just breathtaking!!! Our server Derrick was such a nice young man! He was professional, made certain that we were ok, and went back and forth many times for those extra things that we needed for our meal!!! I'm certain that it was very hectic for all of the servers during the fest, but they handled the crowds so well!!! Again, we were just thrilled to have stumbled on Joanie's!!! It's worth going back for seconds, thirds, fourths....etc....ha ha ha“

I went up to the bar after getting there And got a beer, it was called the red-headed stepchild($17.00), I thought it was very tasty. They got a lot of beers on hand and all the ones that they make there at the place. A little pricey but for the area it seems about Fair. I'm not sure if they have food but we ordered pizza and had it delivered. I didn't walk around much I just basically sat in the section that we were in and kind of looked around. Where I was sitting there was a big window looking out into the back where you can go out and sit in the back beer garden I guess it would be called, and it was very nice out there.“

We tried Chennai Central's Thursday Chaat & Dosa Buffet Launch, and it was an exceptional experience! The event drew a huge crowd, but the efficient service ensured that everyone had a great time. The ambiance of the dining room was also noteworthy, with nicely designed partitions that provided a sense of privacy, making it comfortable for guests to enjoy their meals without feeling crowded. The food spread was truly impressive, with a wide variety of dishes that were fresh, authentic, and flavorful, all served piping hot. The highlight of our meal was the freshly steamed idlis, which were soft and fluffy. Our server, Sai, politely informed us about the batch, and it was a treat to enjoy them straight from the steamer. This attention to detail reminded me of my family's restaurant, where my dad would famously say, "Idlis are never sitting around waiting for customers; instead, our customers patiently wait for fresh idlis steamed to order!" It's a reminder to appreciate the value of slow, carefully prepared meals, resonating deeply with my father's motto at Chowpatti Vegetarian Restaurant - "what we cook at home for the four of us, is now being cooked for all of us in this dining room." What truly elevated the experience, however, was the personal touch from Chef Divakar and Chef Ramesh, who made rounds through the dining area to ensure everyone was enjoying their meal. They even took the time to share tips on how to properly enjoy their famous layered Parottas with Korma gravy, the authentic way – by generously smothering the Korma onto the Parottas and letting the rich flavors soak in before digging in, a delightful touch! Our server struck an engaging balance between edgy and personable, and—most importantly—demonstrated genuine knowledge of the menu and wine list. Wine selections, guided by their recommendations, were uniformly well received by the table, showing thoughtful pairing and sound judgment. The meal began on a high note with excellent crusty bread, a simple but well-executed opening gesture that set expectations optimistically. The entrées, however, struggled to rise beyond adequacy. While none were poor, they failed to deliver the refinement or depth one hopes for.
