“Good drinks, good bakery items, and good service. The inside is pretty family friendly if you can find a seat, and there is also outdoor seating. Parking is tight, and sits nearby behind the building. I've come back a few times and would recommend a visit to anyone with no hesitation.“

“Al’s Hot Dogs has been an awesome addition to Long Grove! So far, I’ve tried the Italian beef, cheesesteak, cheeseburger, and fries, and everything has been absolutely amazing! The food is consistently delicious, and you can tell they’re doing things right.

My only criticism is that the wait times to order and receive your food can be a little longer than you’d like, but hopefully that improves as they get settled in. Regardless, the food is well worth the wait!

“I visited this brewery while in town visiting friends. It has a pretty typical indoor space with high tops, a long bar, and tables. The brewery skews towards German style brewing which again, is pretty typical of a lot of breweries.

The location really shines with its outdoor patio. There is a big outdoor area which is very family (and pet) friendly. They often have live music on the weekend. The brewery itself doesn't have any food, but they have rotating food trucks that come in. The day we were there it was a wood fired pizza truck which was pretty good. Everyone in our group had a good time, and I liked the overall vibe. I will note there were a lot of kids (between us our group of our adults had four kids) so keep this in mind if you go.

“We sort of fell upon Joanie's when we went to the Strawberry Festival in Long Grove and it was the star attraction for all of us!!! My husband and I had the most delicious salad that we completely devoured in record time along with that mouthwatering cheesy pizza that we ordered along with it!!! My Mom and Aunt ordered the chicken and Mom commented...."Now that's the way chicken is supposed to be made!!!" They were served a large tray with 4 LARGE pieces of chicken, potatoes, and long buns!!! They took half of it home and had it for dinner tonight!!! But the piece de resistance was the hot homemade strawberry rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream that seriously 4 of us shared!!!! Wow!!! What a treat!!! Oh... and....Our meals were served Hot....not cold....HOT...out of the oven.....again, the way a meal should be served! HOT!!! ha ha ha...The ambience was fun and the view of the water from our vantage point was just breathtaking!!! Our server Derrick was such a nice young man! He was professional, made certain that we were ok, and went back and forth many times for those extra things that we needed for our meal!!! I'm certain that it was very hectic for all of the servers during the fest, but they handled the crowds so well!!! Again, we were just thrilled to have stumbled on Joanie's!!! “Saw this place plenty of times on social media and finally gave it a try today. Ordered the Philly cheesesteak combo with fries and a drink; also got a 6 piece buffalo wings. Ended up getting 2 of their homemade ranches, which have this great dill flavor. Everything was absolutely delicious especially because it’s all cooked in beef tallow. The cheesesteak had a generous portion of steak and cheese on it, all served on this fresh seeded bread that had a delicious garlic bread taste. The buffalo wings were great too. Everything was cooked fresh but the star was that dill ranch. I put it on everything and it just amplified the flavors. Definitely going to be visiting again, highly recommended.“

This attention to detail reminded me of my family's restaurant, where my dad would famously say, "Idlis are never sitting around waiting for customers; instead, our customers patiently wait for fresh idlis steamed to order!" The food was exceptional, with standout dishes like the Masala Dosa served with three delicious chutneys that burst with authentic, bold flavors. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the personal touch from Chef Divakar and Chef Ramesh, who made rounds through the dining area to ensure everyone was enjoying their meal. They even took the time to share tips on how to properly enjoy their famous layered Parottas with Korma gravy, the authentic way – by generously smothering the Korma onto the Parottas and letting the rich flavors soak in before digging in, a delightful touch! We discovered that this is a chef-owned and operated restaurant, and it's clear that their passion for authentic South Indian cuisine shines through in every dish they serve. “Bowlful of Korea is such a cute little spot! The restaurant is nicely decorated, clean, and has a really welcoming atmosphere. There’s also plenty of parking, which is always a plus since it’s conveniently located right next to a Jewel-Osco. Only downside is that there is two individual bathrooms which I could foresee being an issue if the place is packed.

The restaurant is self-serve and kiosk-style. You place your order at the kiosk, grab a number, and sit at any available table. They’ll bring your food directly to you, so the process is super easy and convenient. There’s also a designated area where you can grab water and utensils yourself.

One thing I thought was a really nice touch is that they have an additional private room on the side that’s available to rent for events. I could definitely see this being a great option for birthday parties, bridal showers, intimate gatherings, or other small celebrations.

We ordered three things: Chicken Katsu – $14 and two Assorted Sashimi Bowl – $21 each. Everything we tried was delicious and came in generous portions. I especially appreciated how fresh and balanced the bowls felt, with a great variety of vegetables alongside the protein. The meals felt filling without being overly heavy, and there was a nice variety of ingredients in every bowl.“

Wine selections, guided by their recommendations, were uniformly well received by the table, showing thoughtful pairing and sound judgment.
