“Bluegrass Restaurant is a wonderful, family-owned restaurant. We have been ordering takeout and eating in since we came to Highland Park three years ago. The owners take pride in managing the restaurant on a daily basis. They prioritize customer service, great food, and a warm, welcoming experience. Last night, they hosted the Highland Park/Highwood Professional Moms group. We had only expected 15 women to attend, but 25 women ended up coming. The owners and the staff were AMAZING. They brought over additional chairs. They provided us with top-notch service, including separate checks. They respected us when we were speaking to the group and quietly took orders in the background. I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant.“

“We were so excited to have found this new place for yummy sushi poke bowl! We adore that modernized look of the restaurant and there are a lot of variety of poke bowls to choose from. Food and service were marvelous, and I came away wishing the restaurant were closer to my near north home. I've not had better Italian cooking in Chicago, and we all thought Pasta d'Arte was a great discovery.

Only drawback, which disappeared as the night wore on and other folks finished and left, was the hard room surfaces which made conversation tough at times. But we left glad to have discovered a place with such good cooking and service.“

“Saw this place plenty of times on social media and finally gave it a try today. Ordered the Philly cheesesteak combo with fries and a drink; also got a 6 piece buffalo wings. Ended up getting 2 of their homemade ranches, which have this great dill flavor. Everything was absolutely delicious especially because it’s all cooked in beef tallow. The cheesesteak had a generous portion of steak and cheese on it, all served on this fresh seeded bread that had a delicious garlic bread taste. The buffalo wings were great too. Everything was cooked fresh but the star was that dill ranch. I put it on everything and it just amplified the flavors. Definitely going to be visiting again, highly recommended.“

The ambiance of the dining room was also noteworthy, with nicely designed partitions that provided a sense of privacy, making it comfortable for guests to enjoy their meals without feeling crowded. The food spread was truly impressive, with a wide variety of dishes that were fresh, authentic, and flavorful, all served piping hot. The highlight of our meal was the freshly steamed idlis, which were soft and fluffy. Our server, Sai, politely informed us about the batch, and it was a treat to enjoy them straight from the steamer. This attention to detail reminded me of my family's restaurant, where my dad would famously say, "Idlis are never sitting around waiting for customers; instead, our customers patiently wait for fresh idlis steamed to order!" It's a reminder to appreciate the value of slow, carefully prepared meals, resonating deeply with my father's motto at Chowpatti Vegetarian Restaurant - "what we cook at home for the four of us, is now being cooked for all of us in this dining room." What truly elevated the experience, however, was the personal touch from Chef Divakar and Chef Ramesh, who made rounds through the dining area to ensure everyone was enjoying their meal. They even took the time to share tips on how to properly enjoy their famous layered Parottas with Korma gravy, the authentic way – by generously smothering the Korma onto the Parottas and letting the rich flavors soak in before digging in, a delightful touch! The bugolgi was delicious, the dumplings were good and the Japchae (chapchae) was amazing.
