“Amazing customer service! We arrived late to pick up an Uber take out order and realized they were closed upon on arrival, regardless the cashier noticed us and gave us our order. We have ordered very often from them and they never disappoint! Food is delicious and their staff is always kind. They also use reusable bags for orders. 10/10“

“This was my first time in Glencoe to watch a show at Writer’s Theater, and I stopped by this place for a meal before the show. It seems to be the only Chinese restaurant in the entire town and also one of the few places both open at night and relatively affordable.
My friend and I ordered the Walnut Shrimp Special and Sauteed Green Beans. We were told it would take 30 minutes, so we sat inside to wait, and the food came out right on time and piping hot. You can’t dine in the restaurant though, as they don’t have a dining license.
9 times out of 10, Chinese takeout will always hit for me, and Shanghai Garden was no exception. The green beans were flavorful and well-sauteed. The walnut shrimp had a nice crispy texture, tangy taste, and also came with broccoli and crispy noodle pieces.
The portions are large for the price and they also included a large box of rice with our order. For just $15 per person, we had a good amount of leftovers. Overall great value, tasty food, generous portions, friendly service— I would love to return if I’m in the area again!

“Ive only been here once so take my review with a grain of salt but I have to say, this is one of those "food>environment" establishments where the heart and purpose is in the food. I had ordered the Kung Pao Chicken w/ Rice. I waited about 7-10 minutes in the lobby waiting for my food. I loved that my container was full to the top but do have to note that I wish the meat to rice ratio was a bit more balanced, but nonetheless, not enough to knock off a star. What I also did note that was different, was that my chicken was mixed in within my rice instead of how I've been accustomed to, which is receiving it in 2 separate portions. Which in no way is to be taken as a negative, I just thought It was different and gave the meal a sense of solidarity throughout the flavors which really let the sauces stand out and play their role really well. Going back to what I had said about the food slightly overshadowing the environment, I firmly believe that the food here is made with love as it seems to be family owned and operated, but I would love to see some improvements to the dining room and hospitality. But then again, I do understand that this is one of those 'in the cut" hidden gems that capitalize & rely on their faith in their good wholehearted food, which I do not blame at all. I definitely do see myself coming back and am excited to try out the rest of the items there. I give it 4 stars as I cannot in good faith give it 5 without trying their pepper steak or orange chicken but look more than forward to updating it in the future.“

“It’s a great go-to place where I often pick up on Tuesday nights. The food is ready 10 to 15 minutes after I order it over the phone. The lady who takes the order and gives me the food to-go is unfailingly pleasant and always smiles. We love their Mongolian beef, and enjoy their egg rolls, hot & sour soup and wonton soup. Never a bad meal. All delicious with generous portions and a fair price.“

“I had the orange chicken and crab Rangoon. It isn't your typical Chinese takeout. When you walk in you may think so, but the food is definitely above the normal Chinese takeout. It was crispy and the sauce was great. The crab rangoon were huge and had a lot of filling. I will be back for sure.“

“I want to thank Tony for bringing the finest and most delicious Szechuan cuisine to the North Shore. I live downtown and have visited his restaurants in Chinatown and Michigan Ave. The food is exception each and every time I go to either location. When the "coming soon" sign popped up in Highland Park, I could not have been more thrilled, considering the food at our local chinese restaurants refuse to raise the bar on their food. There is no better Szechuan restaurant in the Chicago area or beyond. The food, the staff, and the service are all exceptional and executed with perfection and passion. This has been the most anticipated opening on the northshore for a reason. Lao is simply unbeatable. I love it love it LOVE IT!!!!!“

“My Dad's top list favorite food was Chinese/Mandarin! Yu's Mandarin was one of his longtime favorite restaurants. Sadly, my dad passed away at the end of August 2024. To honor him, his legacy, and celebrate him as the MOST AMAZING MAN, HUSBAND, FATHER, AND FRIEND...we hosted a luncheon for over 30 friends and family at Yu's Wheeling after my dad's final services. A few days prior, my Mom and I met & worked with Frank at Yu's to plan the menu and luncheon details. Of course, everything was fantastic and delicious! Our guests were extremely satisfied with the quality of food and service and treated with the utmost respect... and happily welcomed the option of filling up their own takeout container with some of their favorites to enjoy at home later! Whether you choose Yu's Mandarin for a relaxing dinner, lunch with friends, or a large private gathering - expect delicious food, great service, and a memorable time! THANK YOU to Frank and the entire staff - at all levels - on behalf of the Sebastian family.“

“I came specifically for the shrimp toast this is the only place that has it. I searched Waukegan/zion/beach park/kenosha no where to be found. This was so good! I had it in DC and it was comparable. The pot stickers are thick dumplings and made fresh.Egg roll was good but don’t know if I tasted shrimp in it which is listed is included on the menu. Crab Rangoon I would prefer the crab cut up and mixed with the cream cheese and a little more flavor and chicken teriyaki sticks not enough flavor a little dry.Overall though I would definitely return and would like to try more menu items. We started eating right away so pics are not as aesthetically pleasing.“

“Didn’t get food from the Golden Kitchen in a fairly long time. Today I was impressed by the one woman show on display, cooking, packing the food, taking orders, and being as gracious as always. The food is good and the place exemplifies the family business model. I’ll go back more often to ensure that places like this stay in business.“

“We heard about this place from friends who said we shouldn’t be deterred by the reviews (which are dated). Our friends couldn’t have been more right - Excellent food at excellent prices. Delivery was faster than the quoted time and the food was so hot we needed to wait a few minutes. Definitely our “go to” Chinese place. Chow fun and moo shu pork are excellent. Great egg rolls too.“

“This place remains our go-to location in Highland Park. There are other, larger restaurants with Asian cuisine, but Jade has been a favorite for several years now.Features: Not sure if they are yet open for seating inside post-Covid. Their "stop outside the door for pickup" policy during Covid was very effective.
Parking: Limited parking in front of the location, but a larger lot is available next door behind the neighboring building to the east.“

“We drive alomost an hour to this location specifically because they have great customer service, we went in the summer and we had an issue the manager women that was their handled the situation very poorly, I would really like to give it a 5 star but the food is definitely lacking the menu changes that have been made from the lettuce wraps, the actual meals the seasonings have change, that’s unfair to the staff, the server we had is fairly new we loved the old lettuce wraps sause she brought us the sauces to mix it up OURSELVES ummm NO I’m going out to eat to be catered to not to prep my own meal, that was tacky! On the other hand Ken the manager that guy is the anchor of that location, he is always in point very attentive you see him running around all the time. I will say that if it wasn’t for employees like him we would have stoped going out of our way. That’s exactly why we stopped going to the Milwaukee location. It’s a disaster, food, service just all!“

“Sweet & Sour Chicken has the classic flavors, big portion of 14 pieces. Egg roll is large in size and delicious, with peanut butter flavor, included with the $10.75 price + a massive portion of pork fried rice is very tasty, easily 2 meals worth of food. Good crunch chicken batter and egg roll. Best quality and value for the price, I will order from them again, a new favorite.“

“this was our first time here we thought we were going to dine in but The dining room is closed. It was never reopened after Covid. We had the orange chicken, which was really tough. Don’t know if it was old but the shrimp fried rice and chicken sweet-and-sour was very good. I would recommend this restaurant.“

“My experience was both positive and negative. The food was pricey but well worth it since you can get 2 or 3 meals out of it. My wife's sesame chicken had an abundance or sweet and sour sauce. Too much for her taste. My shrimp eggs foo young was great along with the egg rolls. My pickup experience was terrible. The sign says "ring the bell"to notify them you're there. After 3 rings and 5 minutes with no response I called them to let them know I was there. They finally came out, no apology just pushed the order thru the plastic and sign the receipt. Not even a thank you. I trust this rudeness was just the result of a bad day and not par for the course.“

“As you know I am greedier than the average bear. And this time I'm on a business trip and the cravings made me visit Panda Express. An excellent Chinese restaurant. At a good price considering the exchange rate. I forgot the photos but it's worth the detour.“
