“I had her food when she was on 87th East of Ashland and it was Good then. This past Sunday I ate it again for Soul Food Sundays and it was as even Better. “I recently got married at Morgan MFG and Gerard/Occasions catered the meal. Everyone from our wedding has commented on our food and how fresh and amazing it was. The food came out hot (which RARELY happens at a wedding with 200+ guests). The service was phenomenal and I couldn't speak more highly of Gerard and all of the staff. If you are between a few options - choose occasions.“

“great food, excellent staff and great prices“

“A group of us traveled from out of town to this establishment and we were excited about trying the food. We heard great things about the food, but we were thrown off by the person taking our orders. The gentleman was very snarky in his demeanor. There is another saying I would like to use, but for this review, I will refrain from that language. Although there was a group of us, the gentleman immediately interrupted one of my friends as she was about to place her order. In his sassiness, he made a comment to the fact of “I don’t need a bunch of phone numbers and one payment is acceptable.” We were confused by his statement! The gentleman was under the assumption that since we all came together, our order was one big order. One of our friends had to tell him, “just because we walked in together, don’t assume it’s one order!” My friend further explained that everyone would be placing their own separate order. The gentleman’s initial attitude had us all saying that we would not return. Another friend inquired about desserts and his response was something to the fact “we make enough money on the food!” Well, okay, sir!

Lastly, we all agreed the food was good! Customer service could’ve been better. In addition, if you’re charging me for cornbread, include it in my order. I should not have to check my order. Get it right the first time with all the attitude we received! Please get signage so that people know if they’re supporting the correct business!“

“I had a catered event on October 2nd. The food was excellent!! Especially the Italian beef and Mac and cheese. Went to drop off stuff snd decided to have lunch since we were there. The Reuben was to die for!! As was the beef sandwich. We also loved the fries. Thank you Jim for making the food for our 30th anniversary party . I would highly recommend using them for all of your catering needs. And if you are in Thorton, pick up lunch. You won’t regret it.“

“I am recommending the restaurant based on past experiences at previous location. Even though the service was slow, the food was delicious and the man who served us had a great attitude. However, this new location is closer to my house and I would be a frequent customer if they would ever answer the phone. I called both numbers on this page. One is out of service the other never gets answered. I want to see this restaurant succeed. It is Black owned and I want to support it. Please update your number on Facebook to the correct number that will get answered. Until I am able to call to place an order, I will place my order at Daisy's Cafe 2 in Hazel Crest. It's a longer drive, but They always answer their phone.“

He and his staff were very nice and accommodating. Not only were they nice, but the fish was AMAZING! I had to scramble to make sure my husband and I had fish. I'm truly grateful for the service. “I love this place, I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, some of my very first paychecks were spent here. The girl at the window even congratulated me after I bought a new car recently. Today I picked up food, honestly just really exhausted after working all day, and I didn’t remember to ask for extra sauce, but when I got home she already knew who I was and made sure I had what I wanted and it’s just a nice feeling. 🫶“
