“About 2 years ago, I re-established my health journey. After starting our family, we fell into many poor nutritional habits. Paying attention to macros and the food choices was hard….until the wonderful team at Steel Fitness Cafe helped realign us! Our biggest issue with healthier eating….flavor and options. At Steel Fitness Cafe, those worries completely dissolved! Want a great tasting protein shake that is ENJOYABLE??? Well then you are going in luck with the plethora of options here! Caramel Waffle Cone and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are two of my favorites! Need a meal that will fill you up AND make you feel good? They have those too! I helped myself to the Steak and Eggs! When Chef travels, he brings some of that cuisine back home for new meals! Have a sweet tooth but hate the fact that your favorite sweet treats contribute to being unhealthy? Well, their protein donuts WILL hit the spot. You won’t believe the macros until you try it! Here is the elevator pitch……JUST GO AND TRY THEIR STUFF! You WILL NOT regret it!“

“I’m so sorry i forget our servers name but she was so sweet and attentive and you could tell she really cares about the restaurant. We got the carnitas skillet and the chile rellano omelette and both were some of the best breakfasts I’ve had in the city. The carnitas were perfect and the omelette was fluffy and the sauce with the omelette was my FAV. when we left my partner said “this is our new breakfast spot” and I can’t wait to try lunch!“

“The guy running this place is just great. He was super accommodating. Even went so far as to tell me that the freeze flavor I selected wasn't the best. Said he would let me try it, but if I didn't like it he'd make me something else (Thai Tea Freeze... Funky... Just like he said). He was true to his word and made me a lavender freeze for no extra cost that was totally delicious. I'll definitely come back. 100 stars for quality of customer service.“

“Just went to a hidden neighborhood café and WOW… everything was surprisingly SO good! 🥯🥟🍓☕

We tried their smoothies, bagel sandwich, and empanadas — and every single thing was amazing. Their smoothies are made with real fruit, super fresh, healthy, and refreshing 🍓🍌🥭

The empanadas completely stole the show though! I brought my friend who has lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years, and she said these are the BEST empanadas she’s ever had in Chicago! The crust is unbelievably thin, crispy, and crunchy at the same time, and the filling is packed with flavor 🤤

I also loved their bagel sandwich — perfectly toasted, crunchy, crispy, and so well made. And honestly… the prices are unbelievably reasonable for the quality you get.

They even have their own locally roasted coffee beans! ☕ We’re huge coffee drinkers and always on the lookout for freshly roasted beans, so of course we had to grab two bags to take home. We can’t wait to try them!

We’re all about supporting local small businesses ❤️ My friend said she never even knew this place existed in her own neighborhood, and now she’s planning to bring all her friends and family here!

“I was put on a liquid diet for four months now after an accident with my pups. This place saved me by having fantastic smoothies that serve as a meal. After they tell me I can eat again, I have a feeling the smoothies will stay. They are that good but their food items look fantastic as well. Nick, Nada Giselle and the other staff are an example of what great service is. You won’t go wrong by walking through their door.“

“The employees were friendly, communicative and patient. For drinks, I tried an iced dragon rose and mango matcha. Both drinks were delicious and well balanced. The no tuna toastie came on a crunchy slice of toast, garnished with grape tomatoes and microgreens. It had the right amount of filling to bread in my opinion. Finally the tiramisu was light but sturdy with a nice bottom crust. My least favorite item was the praline, but mostly because it had a softer texture than what I was expecting. The flavors worked well together though.“

“Ohhh sweet summer flavors and memories are found at Xurro! They have a great menu of many ways to get your sugar fix from sundaes to smoothies and seasonal flavors too. You can even get a variety of flavors in your ice cream base, vanilla or strawberry or Superman! It being my first time I decided on a classic sundae with churros and I was pleasantly surprised. The churros are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and have the perfect dusting of sugar. It was gone before I made it home! A little on the higher side for price but it’s fair for all that you get.“

All the veggies (carrots, daikon, cilantro, cucumbers) were fresh. The sauce was a perfect amount which brought everything together beautifully.“

However, they are also consistently out of one or more empanada flavors, so I wish they had a method of showing an accurate menu instead of having to come and tell me that I have to choose a new flavor 5 minutes after paying. “I love this specific location of Uni Uni because the staff are sweet and helpful. Today I walked in and the store was pretty empty except for an employee and a man who I think was a supervisor or manager. He was loudly berating his employee because she said he shouldn’t allow people to come in after closing and continue to order when they need to close the store and be out on time. He insisted that respect goes both ways and cited employees reading or being on their phones while it was slow. It was pretty disappointing to hear someone of authority equate these two actions when one forces employees to do extra labor and one is relatively harmless. The drinks I ordered came out quickly and the girl behind the counter was the sweetest. I hope their managers treat them better.“

Working with customer service has really taught me customers are never fully satisfied especially if they’re picky and just plain miserable. If you don’t like something why go and spread hate.
