“We were here on a Saturday night (Sept 20th 2025), we had both the spicy miso and spicy tonkotsu. Both extremely flavorful and delicious. Really solid classic tonkotsu, one of the best I’ve had. “KOHOKU-KU RAMEN CHICAGO is such a unique and delicious find. Their ramen is rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, while their pizza has a fresh, crisp crust and tasty toppings. It’s rare to see both done so well under one roof, but they’ve mastered it. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is attentive without being rushed. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to when I want the best of both worlds.“

“I came to this restaurant in February of this year for my birthday, and 6 months later I’m still thinking about this ramen and trying to see when I can go back. Had the Monster Ramen and it was the most flavorful ramen I’ve ever tried. “Always a 5 star experience from wonderful 👏 servers who are extremely professional and kind to tasty options. If you love ramen and you are on a budget visit this restaurant Monday thru Friday during their lunch hour and try the ramen set which even has a vegetarian option if you don't like meat. I always get a donburi bowl 🥣 or raw salmon don and tuna bowl. The portions here are extremely generous and the taste and presentation is also excellent. I love the house made sodas here and the furikake French fries. The fries 🍟 are addictive--be warned 😋“

“Simple and authentic. No complaints here. I came for ramen, and I got ramen. The spicy miso ramen is what I got and I was pretty satisfied.

They do not serve alcohol, but they do byob for anyone wondering.

The bathrooms were also very clean as well as the restaurant. Overall, worth checking out.“

“Sat at the counter so I could watch the action. Such a well run kitchen and happy staff. Top tier Toki highballs. I had the December special which was lobster wonton and it was delightful. A perfect marriage of ramen and lobster bisque. The wontons are made in house and had perfect texture. Same with the noodles. Easily the best ramen in Chicago.“

“I just ordered carry out for the first time , I got the salmon don , ramen w steak and miso broth and shrimp skewer w a passion fruit soda .

Everything was very delicious! The miso broth was rich and creamy , the shrimp skewer was really delicious , crispy and in a teriyaki sesame seed sauce, and the salmon don was also very tasty w soft fresh rice and nice seaweed salad on top .
The waitress gave my dog water and was very friendly and packed the order perfectly including drink and soup for me to carry without spilling as I am disabled . I will def be ordering from here again!!“

Being lazy, I ordered delivery, and to my surprise, the ramen tasted just as if I were dining in. The packaging alone was so well done that I would have paid extra for it. “I ordered the half and half lunch special with pork wontons and the bulgogi beef soup! The wontons were perfectly fried and airy and were served with a delicious pair of sauces (sweet and sour). For someone who doesn’t normally prefer beef, I thought the bulgogi was amazing. Cute space and fast service definitely recommend!“

Yes, you can still eat good, late. The Japanese food here is to be enjoyed in their izakaya vibes, which are casual pubs that you can grab lots of small dishes to sample. Honorable mention to the Chicken Curry Ramen and Taiyaki with ice cream - my two favorite items from my visit! I also had a really good Mai Tai and lychee martini. Go check them out for some good food and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!“

“Best Sushi Restaurant on the planet. Not only was all the food superior than any other Sushi restaurant I've been to. My family and I had a feast.(I mean all the food was good). Very reasonable prices as well. The most astonishing fact about this restaurant was the host (Quam) his amazing knowledge of food and customer service was unlike any other. The Ice cream desert was mind blowing. You don't have to take my word for it, but I guarantee you, you won't find another Sushi restaurant in the city of Chicago as good this one. “I have loved this spot since it opened. Every time I come the service is great, and so is the food. The belt is included in the all you can eat which is so convenient, and the tempura is top notch. I highly recommend getting the roll with apple in it because it’s not something you see a lot elsewhere, and it adds just a little fresh crunch.“

What a TREAT! these folks have somehow managed to incorporate happiness as an ingredient in their food, so when you eat it, All the happiness particles travel through your body for 24 to 48 hours and you feel extremely satisfied and fulfilled. you might miss the ramen afterwards, and you might end up having dreams about it like I do but trust me, they're pleasant dreams.“

“I had the coconut curry pho. It was a delicious noodle soup that hit the spot! With a 20% tip, it was about $23. It was definitely pricey but I saw a sign that they provide free meals to children on Mondays. Reading the reviews, I know people were definitely using this offering. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and my partner ordered the general tso chicken (and we both got some tempura shrimp). The server was so kind and polite and our food was AMAZING. -ingredients are old, oftentimes still a little frozen when they are served

-non optional tipping system when paying- if you don’t want to leave an electronic tip, you have to manually put in 0

Honestly the only reason I come to this location is because it’s the only poke and boba place within easy walking distance.“

“Been coming to Yatai frequently for about two years now, and every time it meets or exceeds my expectations. Service is quick and the workers are kind and check in on you frequently to make sure you have everything you need. Prices are fair especially for the portions (rice bowls, fried rice, noodle dishes, etc). My personal favorites from the menu are the crab rangoons and the crunchy sweet potato tempura rolls! BYOB and they’ll provide glasses if you need them! Absolutely love this place, cannot recommend it enough.“
