“Been trying to find a good burger at a good price in Palatine for 18 months. Finally found it on July 25, 2023 at TJ O'Briens Bar & Grill! Woo hoo! The place is humble, and the décor is what you'd expect to see at a local bar. However, if you're more interested in good food than fancy ambiance then this is the place for you. I got the "O" burger with fries for under $10 and it was by far the tastiest burger I've had in all of Palatine by far! You'll pay over $15 for a burger at Tap House across the street and it's not even close to what you'll get here. The tomato, lettuce and onion were super fresh (not the wilty mess you get at some places), the burger seasoned and delicious, and the fries crispy and good. My husband got the beef with onion rings and said the onion rings were the best he's ever had! Kudos to their chef! I'm not sure why other reviewers haven't figured out how good the food is here, but that's okay...more for me! I'm gonna be back.“

“No wake is great. The servers and bartenders are really friendly. The prices at this bar are always reasonable. I always enjoy the food when I visit. Atmosphere is fun too. This bar is popular but gets more crowded in the summer months. Located on the Fox River it's always fun to stop while boating. They also have gas for refueling boats. There are also a lot machines and there is outdoor seating in the summer months. I would highly recommend visiting no wake.“
“My husband and I have been coming here for years. The owners, Chris and Nikki and the bartender, Monica are always welcoming and take good care of us. Nice atmosphere, good company, lots of tvs if you want to watch the game, great music playing in the background. The food is always very good and freshly made. Some of our favorites are the chicken kabobs, the Jerry's Special, and the burgers, which are excellent! Half price martinis on Wednesdays with a long list of options to choose from. We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday there and they were very accommodating and everyone had a great time!“

“Service was incredibly accommodating from Management to waitresses. We had an impromptu party of over 20 for a Union meeting in the middle of the day. We reserved the largest table available but our party became too large, Management moved us to a private area of the restaurant which allowed us plenty of space to conduct business.The food was wonderful! “Today is Feb. 19th. 2021. 4 of us went to Eddie's for the famous fish fry. It was truly excellent. And the tartar sauce is brilliantly different. What impressed me the most is the social distancing that's happening inside at the tables. I was concerned however they did a great job and kept well within the state's/towns guidelines. This was my first time eating in a restaurant since the pandemic started almost a year ago. “I didn't read the reviews beforehand, probably wouldn't have tried it. We walked in, the A/C was out so we decided to eat outside (also because the place had that carpet soaked whiskey aroma). There was only another couple in the place too. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and paired it with a Dos Equis. I started to read the reviews and then got nervous with all the 1 stars. The sandwich arrived and all the bad reviews went out the window. This was a really good Cuban! No deli sliced ham, it was a good chunk of ham in a delicious well pressed bread. The fries were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. 5 stars for the food, 3 stars for the atmosphere.“

Then just when I thought it couldn't get any better. A band started jamming and they sounded incredible! The glass wall in between us created the perfect amount of sound. While the menu is not very large I asked if they had lengua, they did not. But the bartender offered a dish that was made for the staff, she called it Trumpbo? Translates to mouth of pig? Im sure im butchering this.. but my GOD.. it was some of the most delicious tender pork I have ever had. Not gamey/barnyard at all. Prepared just excellent.. can't describe it well enough do it justice. Their chef is a master.. if your lucky enough ask for it next time your in, they dont have it all the time but hopefully you can get lucky and enjoy what the cook/staff enjoy.. i felt very fortunate to be able to enjoy this treat from the kitchen. “It’s been our favorite place for a years, and it’s hard to see this place going down. We went there for lunch for my husband birthday and wanted to watch a football game and got sits in front of not working tv . Which is kind of weird because the restaurant has tons of tv and many available tables. I ordered a glass of wine and it’s came in a regular glass, not a wine glass. After we asked for a wine glass the waitress said that they are using a regular glasses as a wine glass. She did exchange it for a wine glass but when I ordered a second glass she did bring me a dirty glass. Her words was: “it is your lipstick in a glass and I used your previous glass for wine”. I’m sorry but it is not a free refill and I’m paying for another glass of wine and I would like to have a clean glass. I honestly think then you pay a hundred dollars for lunch for family of three you deserve a clean glass. We are never come back to this place. I’m honestly done with it. It’s been very frustrating.“

When I pulled up, and saw this corner little dive in a strip mall next to a 7-eleven, my hopes were shattered of anything decent. I'm glad I did not let my first impressions hinder my experience. We went in and place was much brighter and friendlier than I had anticipated. We were greeted with friendly smiles, and a menu that had some 97 items on it. I was flabbergasted at the choice in foods. Being Good Friday, my wife and I both ordered fish meals. And no lie, they served me the best, freshest tasting fish sandwich I ever had. “Returned yesterday for drinks and wings. Always a pleasant experience until yesterday. Terrible service from Amber. First she brought the wrong beer. Instead of trying to make it right, she made no effort. I ordered fish and chips this time . Very greasy fish patties. My friend ordered wings. After 15 or more minutes of waiting, I had to ask the bartender for utensils and napkins. My friend requested additional blue cheese to go on two occasions. Never arrived. She smiled and appeared friendly. Maybe she was having a bad day. Regardless, we left her an appropriate tip for bad service.“

Only issue is they need to add some lower tables to bar area for people with disabilities that can't get onto bar stools.
