“Worth the wait and must try! Beautiful and unique venue in the unassuming town of Des Plaines. Our server was kind and welcoming, food was delicious, drinks were fun and tasty. The only two items that were less than ideal, the horrible acoustics (incredibly loud) and although it was too on my list to try, the chicken shawarma rolls were underwhelming. Even with those two items, the great service and food quality it's still worth the 5 star review. We sat upstairs, which very much appreciated, being out of the hustle and bustle of the downstairs. The table had as a couple of the entrees, a beyond burger and a walleye dish. These 2 dishes were absolutely remarkable. The fish was prepared perfectly. The burger was juicy and flavorful. We had a front row table.The only thing that I didn’t care for was the food. The portions were nice sizes however it was no flavor. I also felt like my chicken was undercooked.The waiters had different names for the food to make things fun for the children so they loved all the excitement. When it was over we left out with lots of carry outs because nobody ate the chicken.Vegetarian options: They did have a vegan and vegetarian option for dinner as well.“

Our server, Alejandra, was so so kind and patient with my girls, despite them being fairly demanding. Our service was fast, attentive and got everything we needed without hiccups. The food was much better than I remembered (objectively good) and came out quickly. The restaurant is quiet and clean, a great place to take kids-their kids menu is very flexible and they can accommodate odd toddler requests for chicken tenders paired with chocolate chip pancakes.“

“We had a reservation for Easter Brunch for 11 and a high chair. When we arrived it was a bar height table. I mentioned it to them. They were very gracious apologized and corrected the problem within 15 minutes. This was my first time at the Oak at The Glen. It was so warm and sweet.Elly's Pancake House was for all ages, from kids, teenagers, young couples to 40s and elderly. This place is definitely being loved by everyone.I ordered Chicken and Bacon Waffle and my boyfriend ordered Skillet, as always, and he said Elly's Skillet is almost the Best Number 1 Skillet he've ever had. The Waffle was sooo great and their side salad was very huge. I mean, their waffle is really different than others - it's thick, crisp and delicious... Also it actually contains bacon in the waffle dough....Yum!We also had some pancakes on the side and it was good too.Only one minor thing that they can improve is their staffing. I think they need more servers, I didn't get a refill for my coffee during my entire meal. “I was always resistant to trying bar food but my son loves going there with his friends so, I had to give it a try and to my surprise, the food was absolutely amazing. I used to only order the sample platter, steak sandwich and chicken wings but last night I tried their steak fajitas and it was surprisingly spectacular. Their margarita didn't taste as authentic as the food made by authentic Mexicans. However the manager was kind enough to offer me an amazing old fashioned and the bartender nailed it making my experience even more special. I'm not a fan of dive bars but they make you feel very welcome definitely turning into one of my regular places to go!“

“5 star food and service every time. Tonight we had the pleasure of being waited on by Lupe. Lupe is very passionate making sure he provides excellent customer service for his guests. He knows the menu and explained it in great detail at our table. He offered suggestions when asked and the suggestions were spot on. We started with the corn bread which was warm and the soft butter only made it better. For dinner most of our table had ribs. The ribs were cooked to perfection with the sauce ratio being spot on. You can taste the freshness of the ribs let me tell you, delicious! A few ordered the NY Strip steak with the added optional char, it was amazing. For dessert our table shared a few sundaes and the brownies a la mode. OMG, what a way to end the perfect dinner! Thank you Lupe and all the competent staff for a great dinner. “This place has special fish Fry during lent. This is a cute irsh brunch spot normally. They had a lot of st paddy's day themed things but I passed. The good. Coffee with actual cream not the pre package junk. Great coffee service as well though it would be nice to add this to the waiting area. The staff was great aaa all the way. The omelets was good, fairly fluffy and a good balance of fillings. The average The pancakes were good not great. I may try some specialty cakes next time. The bad Well good place equals wait time on the weekend. Not sure if that was real maple syrup, if it was it was not the best. The side of potatoes while generous, had little to no flavor. Had to salt and pepper the heck out of them, and just left them in the end.“

While Nancy the bartender was sweet and tried her best to care for everyone as best as possible, she was overwhelmed. Management did not seem to be present to support and the service was slower than it needed to be. We were pressed to take my sister to the airport and shared this up front and while they put in the appetizers, forgot to put in our main order. We waited for over an hour. Right when we were literally about to get up and "call the audible" to leave, management brought our food out. We took a few bites (of which it was fresh and well seasoned) but had to pack it up and leave. Again Nancy was great and food was fresh but it was painful to see the bartender struggle unnecessarily when there appeared to be plenty of staff that could have delivered a better sense of urgency to provide collaborative support.“
“My work team and I went to Union Ale House to take part in their Wednesday night trivia competition. We had a fun time. There is something on the menu for everyone and lots of drink choices too. The food was tasty. Service was good, which for a group of our size was impressive. The only two criticisms I had were that the bathroom could use improvement and the parking lot needs help. Not enough spaces to park and I parked by a very scary looking ditch. We'd definitely go back again.“
