“Jay and his team are fantastic! This is absolutely one of the nicest bars in the neighborhood, and deserves recognition. We have had our company party here since they opened, and we have not changed venues as it is the best place to book your party!“
“My husband and I have been coming here for years. The owners, Chris and Nikki and the bartender, Monica are always welcoming and take good care of us. Nice atmosphere, good company, lots of tvs if you want to watch the game, great music playing in the background. The food is always very good and freshly made. Some of our favorites are the chicken kabobs, the Jerry's Special, and the burgers, which are excellent! Half price martinis on Wednesdays with a long list of options to choose from. We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday there and they were very accommodating and everyone had a great time!“
“Do yourself a favor and grab some friends for karaoke and Korean food at AGIT. A group of us went on a Saturday night and we had a karaoke room for 2hrs. Depending on the size of your group they may add a few chairs in so everyone can fit. Once you're in your room you can start with the karaoke session and in the corner of the TV tells you how much time you have left of your session. They also have instructions on the wall for how to use the remote to choose songs and how to use the control. You can press a button and a staff member will come and wait on you. We ordered a handful of stuff to share family style. We had the bulgogi, fried chicken, seafood pancake, tteokbokk. There was plenty of food to go around and everything I ate was enjoyable. It was so much fun being in a private room and eating delicious food. I wish they would have had plates instead of the paper boats because you can't fit much in the boat and maybe some serving untensils for the dishes. But minor things I could look past. They are located in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking avaliable.“
“Whiskey River Bar & Grill, nestled in the heart of the North Shore is more than just a watering hole—it's a beacon of camaraderie, a testament to the alchemy of good food and spirited beverages, masterfully blended under the watchful eyes of its custodians, Matt, Virginia, and the unparalleled Athena. It's a place where the strumming of a guitar on a Wednesday jam night brings strangers together, bound by the universal language of music and the magnetic pull of Matt's hospitality. It's a realm where Athena, with her unmatched prowess behind the bar, weaves magic into every drink, turning first-time visitors into lifelong patrons, drawn back time and again by the allure of a place that feels like a second home. The transformation under new ownership is a delicate dance between preservation and innovation, where the essence of what made Whiskey River a beloved haunt remains untouched, even as subtle changes imbue it with new life. It's a testament to the understanding that in the world of bars and grills, the soul of a place is its people—both those who serve and those who are served. In Glenview, a town that dances to the rhythm of its own beat, Whiskey River Bar & Grill is more than a mere establishment; it's a chapter in the story of a community that finds joy in the simple pleasures of good food, great drinks, and the company of those who share in the unspoken bond of humanity. It is here, amidst the laughter and clinking glasses, that one remembers the beauty of life in its unvarnished truth, a reminder that in the end, it is not the places we go, but the memories we make and the hearts we touch that truly matter. So, to those wandering souls searching for a place where authenticity reigns supreme, where the gin is always perfect, and the chicken sandwich becomes a craving you can't ignore, look no further than Whiskey River Bar & Grill. Here, in this haven on Waukegan Road, you will find more than just a meal or a drink—you will find a piece of home.“
“My OG go to. It's not a great place for a beer selection, so don't come here for that, but the food is good, and the staff are great, very attentive and very friendly. There are some good deals like the 20 taco tray. I love the Birilla de Borrego. Latin music is lit, and it's a very comfortable vibe.“
“A Chicago-style 'beer before' and 'beer and a shot' after work drinking establishment. Wonderfully unpretentious with excellent bartenders. We spent most of our time drinking, so no complaints on the price. Washrooms could use a little more attention, but not a deal breaker.“
“Vegetarian options: Just ask for some vegetarian options and they can make items without ingredients with most dishes.Parking: Parking in lot on street and also have parking across the lot believe it's 4 hours during day and no problem at night. IWheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking and one floor level no stairs.“
“I wish I lived closer. I absolutely love coming here. The service is excellent. The good is very good. They won because every keeps their expectations low because it's bar food, but it's actually very good. And the vibe here is just fun! I had one of the best salads I've ever eaten. The Thai Spinach salad. Soooo good and spicy! Loved it! We also had the Spinach artichoke dip, which was fabulous. My 17 yr old son had the 8pc wings and a burger with a sunnyside up egg on it. He loved it and said it was the best burger he has ever had.Vegetarian options: There are options, but it's not a separate menuParking: The parking is essentially the end of the Costco parking, so it can be crowded.“
“Today is Feb. 19th. 2021. 4 of us went to Eddie's for the famous fish fry. It was truly excellent. And the tartar sauce is brilliantly different. What impressed me the most is the social distancing that's happening inside at the tables. I was concerned however they did a great job and kept well within the state's/towns guidelines. This was my first time eating in a restaurant since the pandemic started almost a year ago. It was a special occasion and I'll stay home again/carry out for the time being but I was satisfied with everything tonight. Service 5/5 Fish 5/5 Shrimp Dinner 5/5 Social distancing 5/5“
“Hubby and I loved this place! Ashlee is a great bartender and makes your experience most memorable! The food is great and the drinks are superb! Had a great time with the regular patrons, they made us feel very welcome and glad we stopped by. Cheers!?“
“I cannot believe that no reviews or comments have been made about this business! They have great servers/bartenders! They have beanbag tournaments during nice weather months. Their food is outstanding! I had one of THE BEST corned beef sandwich on St Patrick's Day I've ever had! They have video gambling, which is fine if that's your thing. Outdoor bar is nice during warmer weather! Parking is enough for their size. It's unique inside with authentic plane parts, including helicopter landing gear for the bars kick plate. Jimmy the owner is very friendly and will buy you a drink/shot when he's there and his son, Chase, is a fabulous cook! Conveniently located minutes from O'Hare airport!“
“This place is awesome as staff and customers are very friendly and food is always good. If you want something light the vegetable soup is great and comes with a warm dinner roll. Bar service is great and there are daily food and drink specials. Pizza is also excellent!!!“
“I was part of a group of 10+ people, and they did a good job accommodating us. I had the Bistro Burger with a veggie patty substitute, and the onion strings added a nice crispy texture to the burger. I like that you can substitute a veggie patty on the burgers there.Vegetarian options: You can substitute a beef patty for a vegetarian patty on the burgers“
“Wanted something different for lunch and went to Tommy’s and was pleasantly surprised. When you walk in the bar is right there and the dinning area was in the back along with gaming.Darlene was the server/bartender and was pleasant and helpful with the menu making food suggestions.Pizza was half off! Philly steak was very good. Fries were mushy and oily.Beer selection was decent and wall decor was entertaining!Great place for a burger and brew!“
“I dined here for the first time tonight and had a bartender named Kerry serve me. Kerry was a beautiful perfect princess and the most wonderful angel that ever lived. I had the sliders with chipotle ranch dipping sauce and several beers. It was a truly perfect experience. Kerry should be given a raise and receive lots and lots of unending praise. Thank you TWood!“
“First time there since the Location was renamed four years ago. The Bartenders are absolutely TOP NOTCH and three steps over Any servers I've ever dealt with and thae place Was Jam Packed Immaculate and well set up! The Owner obviously cares and it shows! Thanks to the Management and ll of your Staff for a Great Night!!!“
“Friendly Bartenders and amazing drinks is why we come back. Our 3rd visit was welcoming and friendly. The hot honey wings is our favorite as as the sweet hot chili flavor. Bartender went and checked on the guests out in the patio. Felt taken care of. Good job guys!“
“Basic sports bar. It's located in Norridge not close to anything interesting. Newbe's actually is pretty good to be honest, much better than expected for sure. Has the basic drinks and food. There's also gaming. A few way to keep entertained. It has video poker and slots. There was one woman who never moved from the one slot machine the entire time. As for the rest of the stuff, it has pretty average drinks and food. It's about $6 for wells. Basic liquor selection. The food is mostly fried and greasy things. About $3 for fried appetizers. The rest of the menu is meaty stuff. Good stuff as far as entertainment. It has slots. There's not that much else interesting but it's a nice neighborhood hangout if you're around it though.“
“I didn't read the reviews beforehand, probably wouldn't have tried it. We walked in, the A/C was out so we decided to eat outside (also because the place had that carpet soaked whiskey aroma). There was only another couple in the place too. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and paired it with a Dos Equis. I started to read the reviews and then got nervous with all the 1 stars. The sandwich arrived and all the bad reviews went out the window. This was a really good Cuban! No deli sliced ham, it was a good chunk of ham in a delicious well pressed bread. The fries were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. 5 stars for the food, 3 stars for the atmosphere.“
“Went there for my 60th birthday and 3 days later for a blue cheese burger. Fantastic service and food. Only issue is they need to add some lower tables to bar area for people with disabilities that can't get onto bar stools. Will definitely be going back.Wheelchair accessibility: Hard to get through bar area with a walker because so many people are standing around visiting each other.“
“This place is on my list of top 5 favorite dive bars. When you walk in there's a room to the right that has pool tables, darts and giant checkers! Then just when I thought it couldn't get any better. A band started jamming and they sounded incredible! The glass wall in between us created the perfect amount of sound. We ordered pizza and it was hot and delicious. Our bartenders were friendly and attentive.“
“Got the wrong g pizza. It was very crowded and laod. Ordered sausage and mush . Got ham bacon onions mush and pepperoni. No sausage. I can't eat pepperoni due to meds I'm on picking the off didn't work . It was late . Oh well mistakes happen .not end of world and my kid liked it . He said best hes had staff were friendly and I will try again .“
“Stopped in for lunch, though me and a coworker were the only guests we felt very comfortable and the bartender/waitress was very friendly. While the menu is not very large I asked if they had lengua, they did not. But the bartender offered a dish that was made for the staff, she called it Trumpbo? Translates to mouth of pig? Im sure im butchering this.. but my GOD.. it was some of the most delicious tender pork I have ever had. Not gamey/barnyard at all. Prepared just excellent.. can't describe it well enough do it justice. Their chef is a master.. if your lucky enough ask for it next time your in, they dont have it all the time but hopefully you can get lucky and enjoy what the cook/staff enjoy.. i felt very fortunate to be able to enjoy this treat from the kitchen. Thank you Dos Diablos! I will definitely be back when in the area.“
“I went here for the first time and I had an amazing experience! The atmosphere was amazing. They had numerous tv screens playing the games. The service was top tier. Our server was so polite and everything came so quickly. The food was delicious and the portion sizes are extremely generous. The drinks tasted great! It was a Thursday night that I went and they had great specials. I highly recommend this place!“
“Been trying to find a good burger at a good price in Palatine for 18 months. Finally found it on July 25, 2023 at TJ O'Briens Bar & Grill! Woo hoo! The place is humble, and the décor is what you'd expect to see at a local bar. However, if you're more interested in good food than fancy ambiance then this is the place for you. I got the "O" burger with fries for under $10 and it was by far the tastiest burger I've had in all of Palatine by far! You'll pay over $15 for a burger at Tap House across the street and it's not even close to what you'll get here. The tomato, lettuce and onion were super fresh (not the wilty mess you get at some places), the burger seasoned and delicious, and the fries crispy and good. My husband got the beef with onion rings and said the onion rings were the best he's ever had! Kudos to their chef! I'm not sure why other reviewers haven't figured out how good the food is here, but that's okay...more for me! I'm gonna be back.“
“"Donkey Inn is a hidden gem in the realm of dining experiences. In an era where the cost of food seems to be on a perpetual rise, Donkey Inn offers a refreshing exception with its remarkably affordable menu. Not only is the food budget-friendly, but the portions are also incredibly generous, ensuring that every diner leaves satisfied and content. From the moment you step through the door, the warm ambiance and friendly staff make you feel right at home. Whether you're craving a hearty meal or simply looking for a cozy spot to unwind, Donkey Inn delivers on all fronts. I can't recommend this place highly enough for anyone seeking great value without compromising on quality."“
“Tony our waiter, was so nice to us! Kudos to him in making our night more fun. Fun food and down to earth and plain fun to hang out at. People shoot pool here, watch sports, enjoy alcohol, eat bar food, and enjoy lounging on the cushioned seats while chatting w friends or family. I have to say the garlic fries ($5) here have the most garlic I have ever had on fries in my whole entire life. I love garlic, and I never knew that they would there would ever be a place where there was so much flavorful garlic on fries. The garlic was seasoned just right and wasn't dry or burned. The taste of the garlic really brought out the flavor of the fries. They added a mayo like sauce to all the fries which I wished was more of a side dipping sauce w the amazing mounds of garlic bc the fries got soggy over time bc of it. But either way I loved the garlic rich fries...the Mac and cheese side ($6) was loaded w cheese and tasted good. The wings were meaty, the sauces (mango habanero was good w a bite to it), the cheesy garlic was okay, and cost 12 wings for $15. They played 70-80s music which is always great. This place is affordable and a nice neighborhood hangout without any drama. You can relax and not cook and do dishes by coming here.“
“Local cozy bar with great jukebox usually playing at a tolerable level unless there's a game going on. Great tacos Linda is wonderful bartender and the owners always take time to say hello. Pool tables and poker nights certain days of the month that seem to get a good turnout“
“The squirrel and his wife went there for lunch. The dining room wasn't open sat in a bar area. The bar is a bar suitable for evening snacks and bar food. seating is very limited they don't take reservations The food was good, not great, but good for the price.“
“City tap and grill is very unassuming in every way. Let me get into it!The food here was very good. I got the buffalo chicken wrap with fries and the chicken and the seasoning in the sauce was on point. And the fries were perfectly wrapped. The service was great since my friend and I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. Seeing them make drinks and test to make sure the drinks were good did show me that they really did care for how the drinks came out. The atmosphere or ambiance like I like to all it, hands down the what music I have ever been able to listen to while eating at a restaurant. The era of different music was great. Really kept the place vibing!Overall, I will say give City Tap and Grill a shot for great music while you are able to enjoy your meal!“
“Returned yesterday for drinks and wings. Always a pleasant experience until yesterday. Terrible service from Amber. First she brought the wrong beer. Instead of trying to make it right, she made no effort. I ordered fish and chips this time . Very greasy fish patties. My friend ordered wings. After 15 or more minutes of waiting, I had to ask the bartender for utensils and napkins. My friend requested additional blue cheese to go on two occasions. Never arrived. She smiled and appeared friendly. Maybe she was having a bad day. Regardless, we left her an appropriate tip for bad service.“
“Onion rings were/are amazing here!! I enjoyed them very much. I think on their menu needs to be updated / or staff educated to inform guest on whether the price is for the "half" or the "full" portion of side via the menu.. other than that... the service /management was nice about the mix up, the ladies are beautiful here, the people are nice... no bad or aggressive vibes... Latin culture being held with highest respects here.. thank u rocks of palwaukee plaza next to my friend David's WAM pawn shop“
