“I met a friend here about a month ago. But before I go on, I want to preface that I'm not a big coffee drinker. In fact, if I'm gonna be totally honest, I really don't like coffee. I'll drink a mocha with oat milk and an extra shot of chocolate to overwhelm the coffee flavor and will do it hot or cold. I'll get a hot apple cider if a place has it or a good hot cup of hot chocolate. Blu Fig is nestled in the tiny Mill Shops in Long Grove. The main parking lot is already inadequate to handle everything here especially Joanie's Pizza and Broken Earth Winery. However, Blu Fig is a nice addition. The small coffee shop is on the corner when you first pull into the lot and its windows and entryway face inward to the parking area and not out onto one of the two main roads in downtown Long Grove. I arrived after my friend and ordered what I mentioned above and asked for a piece of lemon cake (pound cake). To say that both were delicious is an understatement. The mocha was made with love. Not just because they put a heart in the foam on top, but it tasted that way. They took their time perfecting my cup o'mocha and brought it to me in a to go cup with the top off to showcase their heart. The pastry was delicious and is sourced from the bakery a few doors down. It's a quaint spot with 15-20 seats. The owners (a couple) pour their heart and soul into Blu Fig and you can certainly tell. Wi-fi is available and is a great nook for reading, working, meeting friends, and to start or end your day.“

“Best Bakery ever. Their products are delicious and made with care and a lot of know-how. They use locally sourced wonderful flour (I use the same at home). Staff is wonderful as well. I visit them from out of state on a regular basis because they are better than anything I have found anywhere else.Even though fresh is the best, I can also freeze a loaf and it is still great after being defrosted.Their croissants are out of this world.“

“We visited this cafe for the first time not too long ago, and while there was a mix up with our order, the staff were very attentive and went over and above to solve the issue. The crepe with fruit and coffees we had were delicious! Definitely recommend this place if you have a sweet tooth!“

“Me, my fiancé and our friend came here to check it out on a rainy day and super glad we did! The three workers who helped us were super chill and made it a very comfortable experience. We all got different infused lemonades that were super tasty! We will definitely be back to try their other flavors and pastries. If you have been considering coming in, it’s definitely worth it :)“

“We love supporting local business in the city of Des Plaines! This was a gem that we found today and the coffee was delicious. The employees of River Woods Funeral Chapels had the LaVie En Rose and the Mocha. We loved getting to know the staff and making friends in the lobby. Parking was also very convenient. This will be our usual place to get coffee!!!!!! Des Plaines Local Guide“

“Spunky Dunkers Donuts isn’t just a donut shop; it’s a Palatine staple where every donut is a piece of local treasure. Their donuts are simply the best, bar none! The kids and I have made it our Sunday morning ritual to dive into their delightful treats, and it’s always a blast. Even with a line out the door, the wait is a small price for such big flavors. Do yourself a favor: try the Old Fashion! It’s a game-changer. Spunky Dunkers is the go-to place for anyone seeking donut perfection.“

“We stopped in one afternoon to Harmony Coffee Bar. You know what harmony is ? A combination of things or parts that forms a connected and unified whole. That just about sums up our visit to this adorable cafe. I ordered the Gold Crush Latte which is topped with Dalgona which melted into the latte giving it a slightly sweet and mellow flavor. My companion ordered an iced Gold Crush Latte so they could enjoy the Dalgona as it slowly released its sugary cookie flavor into the coffee beverage. As we savored our drinks in the pleasant and cozy seating, they prepared our Croffle, a combination of croissant and waffle, and it was crispy and buttery and caramelly. All in all, a harmonious mix of flavors and textures that added up to a very pleasant midday interlude.“
“Tala Coffee Roasters was an excellent choice to find quality espresso, a fun but professional atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff who care about producing great results. The espresso was well balanced with amazing texture and the milk-based vanilla latte was just as good. It was a welcomed treat finding delicious old fashioned donuts and other pastries at the counter. If you are looking for whole bean coffee, these folks have what you’re looking for. Their labels provide you plenty of information about the coffee that is in the bag and most importantly; the bag has a roasted on date! This is something that a lot of roasters forget, but if you like to geek out over coffee, it is important to know just how fresh your beans are in order to get the best results from your coffee.“

“Pros: Donuts made fresh to order, so you get them warm! Many varieties to choose from.Cons: Their donuts are on the cake-y side. Not my cup of tea. And they don't have filled donuts like Boston creams. We got there around 2pm when the place was empty. Service was prompt (duh) but I wouldn't call it warm.Since I prefer raised or filled donuts, I probably won't be coming back.“

“5-stars for lattes. We wanted food but decided against it because there was a wait and only one person behind the counter, making things a bit too slow. We were thinking about sitting for a while but the metal chairs are cold and uncomfortable and that part of the mall is cavernous and noisy, so we chose to walk around instead.“
“Went in a few days ago and was greeted by the owner who totally over-served my 2 kids in the best way possible. We ordered minis and he gave huge portions with lots of the toppings we ordered. You could see he did it because he thought it was fun and wanted to see my girls happy. That's a perfect local business, and one that serves up delicious treats alongside the excellent and warm service.“

“Hi ! Thank you for reading my reviews! I'm happy! This cafe is unusual. The cafe is located on the site of an old car service station. In Europe this is unthinkable.. There is definitely the best coffee within a 100 mile radius! There is no design, but the atmosphere is beautiful in its simplicity! I would add small cups of expresso coffee and desserts with sponge cake. I recommend visiting!“

“It's hard to get a bahn mi to be well balanced and I think this place gets it right. I'm a sucker for ginger chicken and it was great, the pickled veg rocked and the bread (arguably the most important component) was outstanding. Liked the counter style ordering and the tea I got was pretty good, I don't know tea so I got no notes. Nice music too and service was quick.“

“This is almost one and only brunch restaurant nearby in Glenview. I went there on Saturday around 12pm for lunch and the restaurant was full of the customers! It seemed like all the families and friends were coming here after church. We were sitting next to a table that was celebrating the grandma's birthday who just turned into her 94 year old! It was so warm and sweet.Elly's Pancake House was for all ages, from kids, teenagers, young couples to 40s and elderly. This place is definitely being loved by everyone.I ordered Chicken and Bacon Waffle and my boyfriend ordered Skillet, as always, and he said Elly's Skillet is almost the Best Number 1 Skillet he've ever had. The Waffle was sooo great and their side salad was very huge. I mean, their waffle is really different than others - it's thick, crisp and delicious... Also it actually contains bacon in the waffle dough....Yum!We also had some pancakes on the side and it was good too.Only one minor thing that they can improve is their staffing. I think they need more servers, I didn't get a refill for my coffee during my entire meal. Our server was too busy taking care of so many tables.Nonetheless, I will visit this place next week again!Parking: Parking lot is large but always filled with cars! Because it's so popularKid-friendliness: Several Awesome Options for Kids“

“Very pleasant cafe. There is outdoor seating when it is warm. I have gotten many drinks and enjoyed them all. I like the lavender latte and the espresso tonic particularly. The food is good. I have not tried the pastries. It is open late as a bar and the mixed drinks are also good. The espresso martini is a good starting drink. It can get busy so keep that in mind while planning. There is street parking and you can also park in the garage a block away.“

“Hometown Coffee and Juice in Glencoe is a cozy spot that’s perfect for anyone who loves tasty, healthy food like salads and avocado toast, and their coffee is just amazing—it’s mild and not burnt, making it one of the best around! It’s right by the train station, making it easy to get to if you’re walking or taking the train because finding a parking spot can be really tough. Also, it’s a very popular place, so it gets super busy. If you’re planning to meet someone here, try to come at least fifteen minutes early so you can find a place to sit. Despite the crowd, the delicious coffee and great atmosphere make it all worth it. Just remember to give yourself enough time for parking and grabbing a good spot!“

“It's good food at decent prices and no pretentiousness. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, I never had an empty coffee cup, and the portions were well sized.I got the chicken and waffles, and it was delicious, and the side of bacon I ordered was the perfect level of crispy. If I may be so cheesy, the best way I can think of to describe here is like eating at grandma's:Is it the prettiest, best food I've ever had in my life? No.Do I feel warm and comfortable and maybe just slightly too full when I leave, knowing that I cant wait to come back again? Absolutely.“

“This place is such a hidden gem that I don’t want to share it with anyone, but I will because this place is truly so special you need to experience it to see.The Bakester is a beautiful cafe with a lovely European feel inside. I place my order at the front register with the owner or other staff. Her cafe latte is the perfect combination of milk and espresso. I also like her teas! I always order a quiche, if there are any left when I show up. My go-to is the spinach and cheese. The mushroom and Swiss is absolutely delicious and that’s is my favorite! I also get one of her fluffy, buttery croissants. If you dine in, like me, they will bring your order out to you in tea cups and coffee cups with saucers. The food is beautifully plated and service is great.I’ve never had anything bad at The Bakester and don’t ever think I will. I’m looking forward to doing high tea one day when finger sandwiches and works!Parking: Free parking on the street and there’s a lot nearby too“

“I cannot wait to go in person and eat. I was craving Pho and this was among the top I’ve had.I ordered the Pho Ga, we also had the shrimp and egg rolls. The Pho Ga chicken was so good my children were stealing it.Can’t wait to dine-in and try more of their great food.Yes, they are cash only, and yes, it is worth it. I would rather have delicious, affordable Pho than wait for a price hiked, GrubHub delivery of cold, mediocre Pho.“

“The ambiance is rustic and old-style themed. A lot of woody vibes all around. I ordered an almond milk latte. I was surprised to see the look was good but taste was a bit dark and too much. The beans were good but tasted burnt. The notes of the coffee were not as sweet as I had thought they would be. Overall, the latte was smooth and velvety but lacked in taste. I would say a few tweaks and the coffee would be better.“

“Came here everyday for my daily fix while in the area for work. I got to spend some time the first two days talking with the owner and one of her daughters. I immediately was made to feel welcome and a part of the family. They roast onsite, the coffee is amazing and the pastries are fantastic. I brought two bags of their coffee home with me. Anytime I am back in this area, I will be going back. Go support a local small business by having a great cup of coffee.“

“I saw this place online through a search in the area for healthy foods. The physical place is very nice. The atmosphere is great too! The menu is much larger and diverse than you would expect from a small healthy food establishment. The food tasted great! I had the avocado toast, see pic. The only issue I had was that I received a single piece of GF bread with the avocado and egg on top for $16! I expected at least twice this for the price. This was definitely less food than I expected for the money! I suggest they reconsider the portion size for that much money. Otherwise, I really liked the place!“

“Super cute, loved the atmosphere and the confections next door were also cute. Really relaxing atmosphere, great prices. “The date cardamom latte, I asked for oat milk, was redolent of spice, with a cute heart in the foam. The croissant was soft, rather than flaky, but I'm not complaining because there wasn't a crumb left to be had. Solid offerings, friendly staff, efficient service.“

“Absolutely love everything about this spot. The staff is awesome, the food is incredible and the beverages and drinks are great. They even serve alcohol. Their soups & chili, hot sandwiches and pastries are exceptional. The source organic chicken and fresh eggs from from Harrisons; bagels from Kauffman, different dairy and butter from Wagner Farm, pastries from Bennistons and etc. Truly a cool spot to read a book, work on your laptop or just sit with a friend and chat. They get into themed items for holidays and go out to decorate. Also have coordinated events too. Kathy the owner truly knows how to run a great establishment. Very kid friendly and excellent prides for the value of what you get. Plenty of parking and a block from the library, train station and a park. My only grip is that the bathroom need a little more attention. They also have a reward system too eirh gracious cash back and a drive thru. Also have gluten free option. Great variety of fresh items. Truly a gem to have in Glenview.“

“Wonderful location in Libertyville with an engaging and friendly staff. They take the time to get your order right, and I was very impressed with the Barista skills. The art of creating a milk foam icon (image of a fox ?) on my mocha was unique and made stopping a truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.“
“It was a pretty decent dessert shop. Overall a 4.5. Great customer service. If you check in on Yelp, you get $1 off any size froyo bowl. Wide selection of drinks and froyo flavors. I got the strawberry mango real fruit drink with tapioca balls. 5/5. For the froyo I got a medium size with ube, lychee, and sea salt caramel pretzel. Ube flavor wasn’t very strong. Lychee was very refreshing. Sea salt caramel pretzel was very good. You can choose as many toppings as you want, as long as they can fit. I kept it simple with fresh strawberries, fresh cherries, and pomegranate boba. There is seating but be warned, kind of limited depending on how long loitering families will stay. When we got there, there were a couple Indian families hogging two tables. They were already finished eating/drinking when we arrived. They were still there after we ate. They were probably there for a couple hours. Parking lot is also very tight and small. Difficult for cars entering/exiting. No restrooms.“

“This is located next to Woori Village. Huge parking lot. The bakery/cafe looked spacious upon entering. We only came here to check out their bread selection. We ended up getting a variety. Prices are not expensive, the size of the bread is not like a pea size. I feel like people use the word “expensive” or “pricey” these days, just because it’s not less than $1. They also have coffee, teas, cakes, and bingsoo. The woman at the register was very nice. The shop was clean.“

“I’ll start with the positives! It’s great to have a store—let alone a bubble tea spot—open as late as 11 PM in the suburbs. The interior is very cute and the menu has a nice variety. My sister and I ordered the mango smoothie and green matcha milk tea. The mango smoothie was good, but it tasted more like durian than mango. The green matcha milk tea was just tapioca and sweet water ? which would be somewhat acceptable if not for the menu picture, which advertises a very different drink. It may be on us for ordering a less popular item, though..“

“I have now visited this place a few times. I was here when they first opened and they needed to work out the kinks. I visited again when their pastries seemed to only come out of the refrigerated shelves and now they have a case with pastries. The two women working were nice when I arrived both greeting me separately when I walked in. One worked solely on drive thru orders and didn't help out the main counter if there was no one in the drive thru. The other working the main counter took her time making my drink of choice: hot mocha with oatmilk and an extra pump of chocolate (not a coffee drinker here). She filled my mug to the brim with artistic yumminess. It's a fairly open concept inside with two Jeni's ice cream coolers along one wall and a refrigerated cooler with juice cold brew canned coffees, bagels, fruit and other items. There's plenty of seating and plenty of space so you aren't on top of others. They have bistro tables, high chairs with a counter along two windows, low tables for 2/4/6 people for privacy to collaboration, and they have comfortable chairs and couches with coffee tables. It's a great place to start your day, conduct business, meet up with family and friends or to just kick back with a nice cup of Joe and a decent nosh.“
