“Regardless of which location you go to whether some if not all locations are owned by the same person/family, you can never go wrong with Sammie's.

Whether it's a Chicago-style dog, Italian beef sandwich, gyros, burger ( Samburger) or Maxwell St. Polish sausage, fries; Sammie's knows how to do it and they do Chicago-style grub extremely well.

First time ever trying this particular location was this past April and was definitely well worth the price. Chicago-style food is a way of life and a culture that should be practiced if living in the Chicago area.

Clean dining room with friendly service and delicious bites at still reasonable prices make this venue another hot spot for awesome Chicago fare. I wish for many years of continued boomin' business for the owner(s).“

Obviously everyone knows Dog n Suds for the classics—the root beer, hot dogs, burgers, fries and that old-school drive-in feel—but what really makes this place special to me is the people behind it.

Jason, the owner, is just an all-around great guy. He genuinely cares about his business, his customers, his employees, and most importantly, the community that supports him. As another local business owner, I know firsthand how difficult it is to run a restaurant, especially these days. It takes a tremendous amount of time, sacrifice, stress, and dedication that most people never see. Jason continues to show up, work hard, support the community, and do everything he can to keep a place like Dog n Suds going strong.

I’ve always had a tremendous amount of respect for business owners who don’t just operate IN a community, but actually become PART of that community, and Jason is absolutely one of those people. He supports other local businesses and organizations, gets involved, gives back, and genuinely wants to see Grayslake and the surrounding communities succeed.

And on top of all of that, Dog n Suds is just a fun place to go. There aren’t many places left that have the character and nostalgia that this place has. Grab some food, get a cold root beer, sit outside and enjoy it. It reminds you of what a locally owned restaurant is supposed to feel like.

If you haven’t been there in a while, go support them. Places like Dog n Suds don’t survive because of giant corporate marketing budgets—they survive because communities continue to show up and support good local people.

Jason, keep doing what you’re doing. You’ve built something special, and you should be proud of it.

“This is an amazing decades long family owned destination for the VERY BEST hot wings! The seating is comfortable inside and outside!
The wings are superb, meaty, fresh, cooked to perfection and sauced how wings are supposed to be. Great sauce choices and sides as well as other meal items.

“I've been here three times in the past year and have been wowed each time. The employees are always nice and accommodating. The food is perfect each time, the bathrooms and restaurant itself are very clean, and the space is welcoming! “so ordered combination teriyaki and garlic parmesan wings and an order of macaroni and cheese, the teriyaki wings were fairly saucy and reasonably tasty move on to the garlic parmesan wings which had zero sauce however they did have Parmesan on them. according to the manager they didn't have any sauce on it so they parmesan them up. now let's move on to the macaroni and cheese I've had macaroni and cheese out of the box from Aldi that had thicker cheese sauce. so I questioned the manager about this his exacting answer to me was we buy our ingredients for that at Walmart. so you buy your ingredients from Walmart when you're a restaurant so that's not actually acceptable and the lake county health department standards for a restaurant. you could literally pour the cheese sauce out of the cup so I question the manager on both of these and he's the one that told me this and didn't seem to give any care about our dinner... so I'm just leaving this up for everybody else they don't seem to care. didn't offer to make anything right and well they will never get our money again. if you want some macaroni and cheese Heck just go to Walmart and buy some you might get the better quality than they make.“

I enjoyed the Italian Beef Meal with Mozzarella Cheese, unfortunately, they put the cheese on the bottom and you can’t see it, heavily dipped, fries, extra, extra crispy and a drink. There was enough Italian beef where I could’ve made a second sandwich.“
