“Place was old school with workers who have been there for several years. It was fun to listen to the old timers banter each other and the regulars. The food was okay, not the traditional gyro but huge portions of meat and onions if that’s what you’re looking for.“

“Visiting from Indiana for training and decided to get Greek for dinner.....man o man o man.....was this a fantastic choice!When I pulled up, it was free valet parking and I was a little confused because I didn't anticipate it being that type of fine dining experience but I was wrong.We arrived at 6ish on Tuesday and let me say we beat the crowd. Within 20 minutes of our arrival, there was a wait for seating.As an appetizer we ordered the Flaming Cheese (Saganaki) And it was phenomenal. They automatically give you a platter of toasted bread and it was the perfect accompaniment.I ordered the chicken kebab meal which came with a soup and my choice of side. I chose the lemon chicken soup and greek potatoes...my tummy was in agreement with my choices.My friend ordered the Moussuka and it was a large portion that also came with soup and choice of side...she chose the mixed veggies and they were truly delicious.We tried the dandelion greens because neither of us had had them before. They weren't my fav but my friend loved them. This was simply a matter of preference nothing more nothing less.My friend got a baklava to go because we were too full for dessert at that moment.The portions are healthy, service was top notch and the food was obviously quality ingredients. There is something for everyone on this menu!“

Their portions are generous again as before I felt there was major cutbacks in quality and quantity due to businesses suffering due to Covid. “Excellent Greek and Chicago specialties. We started with Saganaki (flaming Greek cheese), they used to flamblé at table side, now they flamblé near the table and when it goes put they serve it. We also had calamari (kalamari). I strayed from the Greek traditional dishes and tried the fried smelts; if you grew up in the midwest, you might have tried smelts, and Central Gyros served them exactly as I remember my mother did. We also got Pastitsio, a Greek lasagna type dish. All entrées are served with soup, and we all chose the egg lemon soup. Solid choice. Overall Central Gyros has been doing Greek food for decades and provide great food at reasonable price.Parking: There is a free multi-level parking garage across the street.“

“UPDATE: I think they changed something and the chicken skewers were actually pretty good.I gave this place 2 tries and honestly I really wanted to like it but the food is not great. First time I ordered chicken souvlaki sandwich - meat was flavorless :( it just lacks taste. The “taste sauce” that they put by default is not good at all and simply does not fit with this kind of food. I don’t know why it is by default like that. Mediterranean food usuallt comes with tahini or tzatziki sauce.2nd time - ordered falafel sandwich. That sandwich was definitely not what I expected. Not sure it they know how a falafel should look like and more importantly how it should taste.Otherwise I like how they wrap each sandwich in a nice packaging that keeps it warm and without being messy.“

They have a very large menu with a little something for everyone. The prices are fair and the food is tasty. They offer bottled beers as well as some Mexican drinks. There is usually some sort of sport game playing on the large TV. They also have a separate gambling room. I have been here numerous times and try something different to eat each time. Overall, it's a nice place to stop and grab a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere is just a place to eat with customers ranging from people of all backgrounds. Grecian Kitchen sounded just dandy and also in town not all that far from the mall and I always try my best to support local.I know besides actual Greek restaurants that there are hundreds of Chicago/Greek grills that many people would claim "MEH, they're all the same!". Not always the case for me and GK boasts a great menu with really good food and especially the Gyros.I've had my fair share of places that have served up some bland & boring Gyros before and never to return. Gyros here are excellent; meat is soft & moist, well seasoned and not too salty.Prices are still reasonable amidst the pandemic, nationwide inflation and the minimum wage hike. Clean dining room with outdoor seating as well with friendly customer service.We live up in Beach Park in between Wadsworth and Waukegan so not sure when I'll get back down here but if my wife ever wants to browse Nordstrom which Old Orchard is the closest to our house then I'll have to make room for some savory Gyros.I wish a prosperous & successful future for the owner(s) and decades of boomin' business to come their way.“

Top 5 Gyros and Chicken Gyros spots in the Chicagoland suburban area in my opinion. Ordered their Chicken Gyros sandwich as well as a side of Oven-baked Greek Potatoes (pictured here). So much gyros meat and the potatoes are perfectly baked and soaked in broth. Not going to wait years for my next visit.“
