“We went to Woodfire for my birthday. The food and service is excellent. Vicki was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. The food is so fresh and homemade. The pizza crust is crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. There is an assortment of types of pizza, but the cheese pizza is the best I’ve ever had. The pasta is rich and delicious. It’s cooked perfectly and the vodka sauce is amazing. The appetizers, home brewed beer, and desserts are phenomenal too. Step aside Coopers Hawk, I have a new favorite restaurant!“

“This is some of the very best ramen I have ever had. And it's in my backyard!! After spending 2 weeks working on Los Angeles and going to ramen places every day, I fell in love with ramen in a way that found its way to the core of my heart. In the Chicago land area, for years, there was really only 2 places that were amazing. And to be honest, better than the places in LA. But then Tatsu opened and my wife and I were judgemental at first.... Until we ate it. The ramen is un-freaking-believably amazingly mouth watering and the service of the staff is just so welcoming and warm and real. I never feel rushed even when the place is packed (I'm looking at you Saturday nights). I feel like they want me here. And I'm happy to be so. Tatsu has become my absolute favorite ramen place to go to.

I'm actually nervous about going to Japan this year because of all the ramen shops we already have lined up to visit .. but something in me is screaming that when I get home to Elgin I will be welcomed with my favorite Spicy Garlic Tonkatsu waiting for me.

The fish fry on Friday in Lent was way better than expected, excellent teriyaki salmon dinner and karaoke entertainment by the locals that were extremely talented! “We tried Banushi’s today and really liked it. Grew up on Chicago pizza and this is Chicago in Algonquin. Crispy crust, good sauce. My husband likes lots of cheese, I prefer light cheese - this was the perfect compromise. Pickles appetizer and chicken soup were also good. Can’t wait to try the Chicken Parm. Great service, you can tell they take pride in what they do. We prefer to support local family places, we will be back!“
