“A one style take away restaurant — which is a good thing. This place does sushi with just a handful of ingredients in each of the expected formats — rolls, sushi, sashimi, etc. The menu has been the same for years, with only modest changes. The preparation is mostly traditional, it’s generally fresh and tasty (though there have been nights where something is off). The cooler almost always has some grab and go options; otherwise, order ahead to make the wait more predictable.“

“Oh My Crab is a must-visit for any seafood lover! The food is absolutely delicious—the Cajun seafood boils are packed with flavor, and the garlic noodles are a standout. Everything from the snow crab to the shrimp is fresh and cooked to perfection.
Beyond the food, the service is excellent; the staff is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel right at home. The restaurant itself is impressively clean and well-maintained, including the facilities, which makes for a very comfortable dining environment. Whether you're there for a family night or a casual hangout, it's a 10/10 experience!“

“I went here first time and I was so impressed. Great good. I ordered fish n chips and they brought out malt vinegar even without me asking. We ordered salmon platter. It was phenomenal. Wow. Definitely recommend this place 10/10“

“Delicious! We saw the recommendation on Dine In/Dine Out Lake Bluff /Lake Forest Facebook page. So we decided to try it tonight. We were NOT disappointed. Service was friendly, nice casual dining spot. Great bar choices. The meal was delicious - we had the skirt steak and the flavor was top notch. My meal came with 4 shrimp and prepared well, not spicy. The flavors were yum and truly can’t wait to go back. From reviews the seafood looks delicious. We will try that next time!“

“Butcher & the Bear is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels welcoming, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. It strikes the perfect balance between elevated and comfortable.
The food is outstanding. Every dish is beautifully presented and full of flavor, clearly made with care and high quality ingredients. You can tell a lot of intention goes into the menu, and it truly shows. The cocktails are just as impressive and are creative, well balanced, and memorable.
What really sets this place apart is the service. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and warm without ever feeling overbearing. They make you feel genuinely taken care of and excited to be there.
Whether you are going for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends, Butcher and the Bear delivers on every level. Easily one of my favorite spots in Chicago and I will absolutely be back.“

“I went in there last week to buy jumbo shrimp $24.95 per LB. Is there new owners in this place. When I got home there was small shrimp with a couple of Jumbo...I should of took a picture. They use to put the fried shrimp in a wax lined brown bag...now they have a with paper container when I got home all was cold. Not wasting my time..“

“We have tried the Adana kebab, döner, lahmacun, and beyti. everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on and tasted very authentic. Portions were great and the food came out fresh and hot. Overall a really enjoyable experience, definitely recommend this place.“

“I used to live in Chicago but have not for almost 20 years. My loved the Fish Keg when I was growing up & used to take me every once in a while. Came back to visit family and had to stop in and get some fish chips before I left. It tastes just like I remember. Staff is very nice as well.
It’s so nice that the Fish Keg is still around after all these years. It’s one of those places that really makes me miss being a kid and living on the North Side of Chicago.“

“my family and i went there tonight as first timers. id like to say the food is absolutely delish except the soups. we had the new england clam chowder amd the seafood gumbo and they honestly tasted like can soup. the fried calamri were perfect and the raw oysters were fresh and cleaned immaculately. we would definitely go back BUT will not have matthew as our server. he was honestly terrible. unattentive to us on a very slow Wednesday night in the restaurant. if he came around 2 or 3 times during the hour and half we were there it was a lot and to drop off food. my husband asked for a refill on his drink after 15 minutes i had to get up to look for him and eventually had to bother farrah, another server working. she promptly got him a drink and checked on us several times after that. matthew nowhere to be found until it was time for the check to be paid. his service would have turned my nose at a return but farrah saves the night and the fact wed be return customers soon. also we asked for a small container of butter we recieved a bowl cool until we got the bill and they were charging $6 for a bowlof butter. would have been nice if mathew would have let us know our options before deciding it was cool to bring whatever he chose. he did remove it from the bill when i questioned it but the point is there was transparency or communication before hand. ivell farrah and the good saved the night, sorry mathew you need to work on your service if this is your choice of job“

“This place doesn't stick around for this long just,for no reason.☺️ Let me start saying that the service from beginning to the end was excellent. Driving up they have complimentary valet parking! My reservation was for 1:30pm as the day was totally booked, but this was a mid day lunch. We were seated right away and the hostesses were very friendly young adults. We were seated in a section with a very jovial, friendly, and aiming to please waiter name Gustavo. He was a great waiter everything we asked for he could explain or brought back quickly all of the food we chose was excellently cooked very tasty and filling the atmosphere was cozy, friendly, and easy to converse in. The menu has great options and the sides are big enough for two. It was a great experience all around and will be going back again.“
