“My friend and I stopped in at Firewater BBQ in Elmhurst on Thursday Dec. 1st for the "Granny's Lunch Box Special" which is available daily from 11AM-2PM. This was my second visit and my friend's first at Firewater. We both ordered the Angus beef brisket sandwich with a side of 3 cheese Mac & Cheese and a soda. The brisket (smoked for 22 hrs) is amazingly tender and flavorful. It was piled high on a toasted brioche bun and is served with your choice of sweet or spicy BBQ sauce or both if you like. The Mac & Cheese is sooo silky-smooth and creamy and compliments the brisket quite well. There are complimentary pickled jalapeños and sweet & spicy pickles available as well. My friend was so impressed by this amazing brisket that he placed another exact order to go to bring home. The cashier who also took our order was very friendly and polite. We told one of the chefs, Shawn, (pictured) that we really enjoyed the brisket and complimented his skills. My friend and I will both be returning to Firewater BBQ and we'll definitely be letting our family and friends know about this wonderful BBQ spot.“

“I've seen this place for years, and never seen them busy. When I came in I had to wait to get service as there was only one person working (Saturday evening.) But I was not in any hurry, as I was looking for some good barbeque at a reasonable price. I was NOT disappointed!! It is an older building and not extremely easy to find. They don't have the staff to serve lots of people, but the food is definitely worth eating if you love Barbeque!!

“I had the pleasure of trying the burger, sausage, broccoli salad, fries, banana pudding, Mac and queso, and sticky pork belly—and let me tell you, every single bite was an absolute delight.

The sticky pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sausage link was perfectly juicy and bursting with flavor. The fries were golden, crispy, and even better when paired with the tangy Texas Red and Carolina Gold sauces.

The burger and the sausage link, though, were the (tied) stars of the show. Both choices are simple and very reasonably priced. The burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. Each bite was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and incredibly satisfying. The sausage link was made with a perfectly balanced blend of ingredients that made it impossible to put down.

The Mac and queso was a standout as well—completely unique and absolutely next-level. It’s not your traditional mac n’ cheese; it’s a bold, creamy creation that left me wanting more. The broccoli salad was a refreshing surprise, with a perfectly balanced tanginess and flavor that was, quite literally, DILL-icious!

I finished off the meal with their banana pudding, which was the perfect way to end such a feast. Light, airy, and just sweet enough, it was like a cloud of dessert heaven.

On top of all the incredible food, the service was quick, warm, and friendly. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu—this place is a total gem!“

I Checked out the new wings offered at Slyce.

I ordered the mango habanero (6pc) and honey bbq (10pc) a slice of pizza while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive…and I’m glad I did. Bc the rest of the guys came, ordered, got their food before the wings arrived. Took atleast 20 min for the wings for dine in.

The wings were cut so drummette were separate from the flats. So 1 anatomical wing is considered 2 pcs.

The pcs were on the small size. Nice presentation. The wings were very hot (temp wise) since we were dining in. There skin had a nice crunch. Not overly bread coated. Minimal fat under the skin which I prefer. Generous amount of flavor sauce. Comes with a cup of ranch

Mango habenero flavor was on great. Not overly spicy. Good tang/kick to it. Spicy bbq is bbq sauce with red chilli peppers. Standard stuff.

Overall value is there. Would be better if the pieces were bigger. (I had the halal BWW a week ago as a comparison and those were almost double the size). Order ahead. And I believe if you eat them too late they become soggy. Which might be the case with any wings.

Overall I give these a solid 8.5/10. Will get again in the future.“

“A small, korean BBQ restaurant in a strip mall on Mt Prospect. We were greeting right away and sat at your table. The tables are separated and private from others. The servers was attentive and took our order quickly. Bottled water is sevred with every meal. We ordered the meat and seafood combo ( steak, chicken, shrimp, and squid) which it comes with a lot of meat. You get a dumping soup that was very filling. The meat is very well seasoned and cooks nicely on the grill. The side dishs were very good. I didnwish they had korean potatoe salad as one of the sode doshes. At the end they also give you ice cream bars. The food and service were amazing. The only negative thing I can say is that it does get smokey inside the restaurant. I definitely recommend coming here and will visit again myself.“

You don't get to grill the meat, they will take ur order and grill it in the back and bring it on the table which I found surprisingly cool and calm. There is no smoke or urge to overcook the meat etc. Usually its little messy when u get to grill the meat. Just found out today its really actually great idea if mear served grilled like theirs.
You will calmly be served with delicious tender good quality steak in front of u already cooked professionally. The side dish and kimchi stew was top notch. They will serve you side dishes with everything you want to enjoy with the meat. Grilled onion, garlic,jalapeno, side zucchini, carrot mushroom even the sauce and salt was so good! 0 complains! Cannot get enough of kimchi stew. My husband said even their water tested better lol . We only paid around $70-$80 but it was all worth it. Definitely will come back!! The gyro was perfectly cooked, the tzatziki was beautiful, the fries were delicious. The absolute standout was the customer service. I was having such a bad day. I confused the gyro plate with the gyro dinner and they took such good care of me. We arrived around noon and surprisingly had the place to ourselves, which made the atmosphere calm and relaxing, with soft music playing in the background. My friend ordered the beef bulgogi while I went for the galbi soup—both were absolutely delicious and tasted so authentic that I still find myself thinking about it today. 😭 No Korean spot where I live even comes close to matching it!
