“I'm not normally a huge fan of bbq from restaurants since it's usually made with syrupy grossly sweet bbq sauce. But this.... this has got to be some of the best (if not the best) bbq I've had. And the slaw slew, it was great. I got the slaw sliders as well, and well... they were great. Plus they are open late, would highly recommend trying this place out.“
“Always enjoyed going here in years past and have only had carry out since Covid era. Today was our first time coming in to dine and while I love the smell and atmosphere... As a BBQ place, I felt my meal was lacking that very thing: BBQ. My 1/4 pork sandwich had some hot BBQ sauce but it's like I asked for "light sauce". I recall there being bottles of the sauce around the restaurant and when I asked, I was told they no longer have the bottles and was given a small cup of the original sauce. It was a little surprising. Food was good but not as good as the past.“
“We did the call-ahead seating for 22 people. Our tables were ready as soon as we got there. We had 2 wonderful servers, Emily and Jazz. They were amazing! The food was great! “I love this place and it definitely takes care of my kimchee cravings. I get the tofu kimchee soup and the kimbab. Don’t miss out on the kimbab! I found the noodle salad to be a strange choice to put in with the rest of the portions- I definitely didn’t eat it but everything else is perfect! Every time I’ve ordered takeout from them, it’s ready quickly and delivered PIPING hot. Everything is fresh and great as leftovers.“
“Excellent excellent food excellent. I can't say it enough. The green beans are amazing like none you've ever had before. The guy said the recipe came from his grandmother.. The baked beans are awesome the pulled pork was delicious it's just a little place outside the gas station but the two brothers that run it are so friendly. And it is priced super reasonable can't wait to try the ribs and the chicken they looked fantastic.“
“First time in Bloomington, wonderful town. Smokeworks is located at the town square which was perfect for a couple of tourists from the east coast. We came around 12 which we felt was early as there wasn’t many people there yet.We ordered the ribs and wings which is a MUST for couples who wanna get filled up. Our sides were the fried pickles and Mac and cheese.We were so happy by the end of it that we ordered some bourbon for the hell of it. Classic buffalo trace, and then one of the best bourbons to try and still affordable was Angels Envy. We capped off our boozy day with one of the rum milkshakes. Did we want bourbon in it instead? Yes. But we weren’t disappointed in the slightest by whatever rum was in there.We were so happy I brought my sister and parents in two days later for a family meal where we ordered double of what we got last time.Levi was our server first, sorry but we can’t remember our second one…Great time!“
“My boyfriend and I went for dinner. Very VERY busy night for the restaurant. ( makes sense it’s a holiday weekend) we put in reservations online and the wait was 1 hour 25 mins. We were fine with the wait didn’t bother us any we were just enjoying spending time together out of the house. We got in and sat down had drinks and an appetizer brought to the table. We got so into talking to each other and playing the trivia game on the little device they had on the table that we didn’t notice an hour had gone by before we got our food. The manager apologized the server had apologized. We personally were not concerned with the wait. Our food was good our server kept up with refills and got our order right so we had no reason to complain. The server looked kinda defeated with the busy night he had and the kitchen taking so long. We decided rather quickly the young man serving us needed and deserved a smile. So we tipped $59 to out a smile on his face (and he earned it) when we were done and left the restaurant completely satisfied. We will be back.“
