“Love the food. HUGE draft beers for seven bucks!? Wow! Not an enormous beer selection, but an adequate variety...and the price!! Very friendly staff. There's not a lot of options in this immediate area, but with food this good and inexpensive beer, this place does a great job! LOVED the mushroom quesadilla. It's enormous.“
“So we arrived at the airport and on our way to Indiana we stopped for a quick bite. No one greeted us or helped with the order. They stayed in the back and did not even acknowledge us. Mind y'all, I'm old and ot very computer savvy, I proceed to make my order on the monitor thingy and took forever. Food was good tho!!!“
“Wow, what a great place! My wife and I visited Louisville, and on the recommendation of a local, popped into Mayan Cafe and were completely impressed! The hostess and waitress were extremely nice and even though we came toward the end of the night were very welcoming and never hurried us along. The margarita with mezcal I ordered was perfect, and the dark, romantic room was fun and had a good, buzzy energy. We ordered the sikil pak and both agreed it was the best we've had - great depth of flavor and silky texture, it is a must-try! The scallop ceviche was also great - the scallops were marinated to the perfect texture, the flavors were fresh and bright, and the serving size was generous. My wife ordered the tuna tacos and loved them, raved about them. I ordered the duck with black mole and it was really great - succulent dark duck, confited and served shredded, tasted almost like deeply roasted, juicy pot roast - awesome flavor, but the mole was the star - great compliment to the duck. We split the cochinita pibil and both loved it - the achiote sauce was beautiful to look at and tasted earthy and complex, and the fried plaintains it was served with were nicely tourneed - a cool little touch that added to the fancy vibes of the meal. Even though it is certainly gourmet-level and very interesting food and a great way to experience a different kind of "Mexican" cuisine, and the dishes are crafted with love and look great on the plate, the prices were very fair and not too expensive. We loved Louisville, plan to visit more often, and will definitely be back to Mayan Cafe (to hopefully try the rabbit next time!). Highly recommended.“
“First time experience. Food was tasty but felt a bit pricey. Service was very slow. Soda was not correct syrup consistency but when asked the charge was removed. Not sure why there was a merchant fee. ?? They ran out of silverware.Vegetarian options: One of us had a taco that had a black bean burger in it. Excellent taste.“
“Wow wow wow .. that's all I have to say.. I haven't found a a restaurant that has ambience, food and service all bundled up together to make the experience AMAZING, And that says a lot because I am a big foodie. Would def go back if I was ever in Louisville“
“A friend wanted to try this place out because she'd heard how good it is, so we went today for lunch. Absolutely fantastic. Authentic flavors, with offerings that you won't find in the regular chain spots. The salsa was served warm with the (also still warm) chips, and the flavor was like nothing I've experienced elsewhere. There was not a crumb left on anyone's plate when we finished. Prices were great. Staff is incredible, friendly, and efficient... which we saw first hand since the place filled UP for lunch. I am thankful we live close by because I'll be bringing my family in very soon.“
“This is the best authentic Hispanic food. I have never had bad service or bad food. The birria tacos are the best along with the salsa and chips. I have had different things off their menu and have enjoyed all of it. The restaurant is a cute little place to eat with incredible decor. Love this place and it is well worth the money spend here.“
“Enjoyed breakfast at Foko’s new location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Tried the Wake Up Burrito, Dirty Horchata, and tres leches pancakes! All were delicious! A friend who was with me already made plans to return and bring her family! Love this place!“
“Excellent food and service! I'm from out of town, and recommend this place to anyone passing through Louisville.Kid-friendliness: We had our 10 month old here and had plenty of options for him to eat. We chose rice and chicken, which was cut perfectly for him to eat in bites.“
“Stayed at the Moxy and decided to try the tacos here. I actually ordered the chicken nachos. They were very good. I ordered a side of the cilantro lime rice and shockingly it has no flavor to it at all. However the nachos were very flavorful. Staff was super friendly and the food came out fast! It was a great experience and will eat again when I return to town.“
“My wife and I came to Down one a few weeks ago. we sat at the bar on a pretty slow night. The bartender Dustin was very conversational, friendly and very knowledgeable. we had some great whiskey and a few laughs, definitely will come back great place!“
“Usually pretty good quality and service but their issue resolution is terrible when it comes to carry out. They completely messed up our food. I called to complain to a manager and after a long phone call they got my info and promised to mail a coupon for a free entree. This coupon was never received.Edit: we went again today to give them a second shot. Our order was completely wrong once again. We drove back and the manager made the situation right and resolved the previous issue as well. It was a hassle but I the quality and taste of their food makes up for it.“
“My wife loves this place, and she's a heat wimp. Food is inventive and fun, chips are good, drinks are good. It's a bit pricey, but what isn't anymore? Their spicy sauces are pretty flavorful as well, which I feel isn't something commonly said with spicy foods. I am a fan of heat, and they definitely have a few taco sauces that will open your pores.“
“Me and my sons always want Mexican food, we can go for 3-5 times a week. My wife occasionally likes Mexican. Like twice a month. This place changes that. We ate here 2 days ago, I had leftover for lunch today, then tonight she says, how about carryout from La Lupita, and I'm like, yeah...BET! The gorditas and tiayuda are top notch!“
“Great atmosphere, food, margaritas and service. Reasonable prices too. It was very clean and organized too.I was shocked it wasn’t more busy.People of Louisville, you’re missing out if you don’t come here.I walked from my hotel and it was difficult to see in the dark because the building is set back off of 4th st and the windows are tinted dark.“
“New favorite Mexican restaurant. The owners are very friendly and everything we have tasted here is great. The street tacos, fajitas and chili relleno are full of flavor unlike El Nopal or Puerto. Support these local folks providing a quality experience!“
“Great little establishment. The people are always friendly. I'd eat here every day if I could. They are only 4 minutes drive from us. They are usually pretty busy and even then, they push food out in roughly 10-15 minutes. It's worth the wait!“
“My 3rd time, 2nd time at New location. Very good, fresh, fast. The wallpaper in the ladies room is one of the best things I've seen in my life!Vegetarian options: You choose exactly what you want!Parking: Plenty of downtown parking.Kid-friendliness: Kiddos welcome.“
“Stopped in here after a flight back from Chicago. The food was great. Staff was on top of keeping our drinks full. Menu had plenty to choose from and had pictures. The pictures are always a plus when choosing cultural dining. Overall we had a great time the prices were fair for the great food and service we received.“
“Wonderful place to enjoy a Mexican dinner. I ordered chicken fajitas and they were awesome. Chips were good and fresh and salsa had some kick in it but mostly just good flavor. Servers are also very friendly and excellent. I am from out of state but will be enjoying this place at least a couple more times before I leave!“
“Took my two toddlers today for the first time. Owner was incredibly kind and helpful as it was hard to figure out the menu while wrangling two kiddos! He walked me through it, gave good suggestions, and the food was delicious! Brought home leftovers for my husband and he loved it too! We will definitely be back. Tried the taco bowl, soft crunch tacos, and a dunker. All delicious!“
“Wow. Now THIS is some good food. There are plenty of places that do "street tacos", but La Catrina gets it right. Very delicious. And the wait staff was super friendly as well. If you're walking the big four bridge, stop by and give them a shot.“
“This place is a hidden gem!! You wouldn’t know about it unless you’re in the know. You can’t see it from the street and the only thing next to it is a peddlers mall and a mattress store. But if you’re looking for a local hole in the wall kind of place this is it! The salsa is so unique as it’s thicker and saucier than most I’ve had. So tasty. Then we had the guacamole and it was delicious! Their chips are crisp and light. We’ve been here twice now and everything we’ve had was great. The owner recommended I try the campechanos tacos which is steak and chorizo together-something I would probably never choose for myself but is definitely a favorite now! I didn’t take a picture of my tacos because I ate them too fast. Needless to say, this will be one of our regular go-to restaurants from now on.“
“We drove up to the food truck and went to the window. We were cheerfully greeted and placed our orders after having looked at the menu. The food was quite flavor for and fairly good portion. However, the prices were the same as a full service restaurant with a limited menu. I believe that food truck prices should be 20 to 30% less.“
“tried the place for the first time yesterday. While I will return, I still think Rita's Taco and Rancho Allegre in Corydon is my favorite. prices a little cheaper at Rita's but the quality is the same. Very kind gentleman was my server, he was very attentive. I am not too fond of places that have decorations for the day of the dead, we should be celebrating life, plus young children could be sensitive and spooked. with that said, my tacos were delicious, salsa was pretty good, and the Chile relleno was tasty, but wow it was super hot and I'm writing this as it exits, ouch. El Nopalitios in Corydon has the best Chile rellenos, best cheese inside, and I've been all over the US trying then from different places.“
“Absolutely. Amazing. We are visiting and renting out an Airbnb down the road, we initially drove to another Mexican restaurant close by but there was absolutely zero parking (not because they were busy, just because there wasn't anywhere to park!) and so we just came back to our rental and walked to this one. We were settling for it but we soon realized this wasn't just second choice, it should have been our FIRST choice! Every bit of the meal was delicious and authentic, the chips were thick, flakey and melt in your mouth. The salsa came out warm and addictive. Cheese sauce? Thick and hit the spot. My friend enjoyed a MASSIVE burrito and some chicken tacos, and I enjoyed the steak fajitas. She said those tacos were the best she's had and she quite enjoys her authentic Mexican tacos. Those fajitas were definitely the best I've had, tender juicy, and perfectly marinated. I am quite miffed I haven't found a place this good where we live. Low-key jealous actually... (Everything was hot and fresh and we dined at 3pm on Saturday.)Anyway! We will be back again before we leave Louisville. Absolutely.“
“I am a frequent flyer of Mexico City 2, Love the burritos definitely the best bang for the buck they're just as big as El nopal except only $7. I tried they're nachos and they were delicious.Parking: Nice size paved parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: There's sidewalk is flush with the parking lot so no wheelchair ramps required.“
“The first place I have found in Louisville to serve lengua, I am in loveHad a lengua taco, a chorizo and an asada. Double corn tortilla, onion and cilantro AS YOU DO. Two sauces were provided, a green and a red, both were excellent. Also of course a mandarin Jarritos! Service was extremely pleasant and prompt, they were in the middle of setting up a BBQ later in the evening and did not let us suffer for that!Interior is exactly how you would expect, tall booths and some tables, an amazing array of art, cheery music and papel picado hanging from the ceiling.Am so excited to go back and try more off the menu!!“
“My husband and I love this place, says he's pretty sure the owners are from Cali because it's the best burritos he's had. Constantly asks to come back and I enjoy their burritos as well. Really great quality meat and ingredients.“
“I was working out if town and have a habit of wanting to try different Authentic Mexican food when I'm out if town!! Man,Taco city did not disappoint??? I showed up 10minutes before close. My man met me at the door as I was leaving thinking they were closed. He said No No,come in. Lol,he offered the whole menu, but I came for the lingua tacos and the Carne Asada Burrito!! No way I could finish it all(being greedy) but the portion and quality were on point!! If you have a taco craving and you're anywhere near!! You won't be disappointed!!“
“First time I've been there as it was recommended by a friend. The menu had some good choices and fair prices. I got the Monterey burrito and black beans. That thing was massive ?. It was really good and packed a good portion of food. Black beans were good as were the chips and queso. The server was really sweet but I don't think she introduced herself ?. She seemed a bit apprehensive with customer service not really engaging and a bit rushed. I did see a gentleman with tattoos engaging with other patrons and was pleased. Anyway, I plan on coming back.“
“Everyone really enjoyed their tacos. We all tried different ones and they were all really good. We had several of their margaritas to that were only $5 and they had plenty of alcohol in them. The elotes was tasty, too. The chips and dips sampler was ok, with the salsa being the best of the 3 dips“
“I love everything about Señor Iguanas. The food is absolutely delicious, priced right, and the portion sizes are generous. Here, there is something for everyone: if you are picky, no worries they got you covered ? ?. If you are in the mood for some authentic Mexican street tacos, guys they got you. Your choice of meat ?, topped with cilantro and red onion will have you thinking you are in Mexico. My personal favorite is barbaqua tacos. So now you know next time you want to get your Mexican onn and are craving tacos. Look no further. Siñor Iguanas got you. Now what are you waiting for go get you some.“
“It was in Sellersburg, In. Very roomy and had an area to fit our large group. We had several wait people taking our orders, bringing our food and watching over us to keep our drink full. It was an excellent party. We will be sure to add this place to our “go to” list for parties.Parking: Parking in front and side. There was plenty of spots.“
“Best steak tacos I've ever had!! I wasn't expecting much from this hole in the wall joint with no customers in line, but I was blown away! We had no wait, the one staff member working was very kind, and my tacos were to die for! The steak tacos were tender, flavorful, and topped with lettuce, pico and cheese. Simple but fantastic! The space itself would be best to grab food to go. There were 2 or 3 2-seater tables and it was a very small space. We waited no more than 5 minutes for our food which was hot and fresh! I highly recommend trying it out!“
“This is a place that you can actually order food until it says that they are closed versus the ones who close at 10 but you have to be there by 9 in order to get your food and there are plenty of those I will not mention right here but I will if I was asked in Georgetown you don't have any options for any great food or service on one of those days where you really need some dinner late-night This Is The Place To Go these guys are very nice and they want your business and you can tell that they are proud to and glad to serve you food they do want to go home but they will stay open until the time it says that they are open until very very great people“
“Quite simply our favorite Authentic Mexican restaurant in the Louisville, Ky area. The must haves... chilaquiles el Maguey, any Burrito and the Fajitas!!! Be sure to ask for some of the hot sauce from the kitchen especially the Verde Tomatillo! Portions are huge and priced right!!! We probably eat here once a week and it gets our highest recommendation!!! Of course they know us which doesn't hurt!!!“
“If you're looking for local authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. Food is way better than the chains. Everything was very hot and fresh. They have a great variety of menu selections. They have high chairs and it is great for young children as well.Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly, they have high chairs for young children.Parking: They have plenty of parking beside and behind the restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: They are wheelchair accessible.Dietary restrictions: They were very accommodating of my dietary restrictions and prepared my meal with no onions.“
“I've been to a lot of El Nopals, and this one is pretty great! Service and good are both up to standards, and staff are friendly! I especially appreciate this location, as it's very clean, and the restrooms are always in good order. El nopal is one of my favorites! And this location is certainly no expectation. On my birthday, we called ahead, got a free desert and an excellent happy birthday song from the staff, couldn't be happier!“
